Service staff are however very friendly and knowledgeable explaining the entire process and what you need etc. I do suggest getting here before 6:30am to be served promptly after opening. After 12am they don't accept any more people till the next day. Hope I've helped someone with this info. Cheers

I was assisted quickly and efficiently. Beverly, the branch manageress, was friendly and helpful. A very pleasant experience. It is clean, neat, and air-conditioned. All the staff were great. I am not used to such good service from a government department, so a nice surprise.

I needed to renew my passport and the Benoni branch was where I was able to get the earliest available booking. I was quite taken aback at how efficiently the passport and ID were processed between application and collection. The DHA officials were exceptionally helpful. Once you enter, you're given a number and directed as to which queue you need to join. ID/Passport photos are taken at the branch. The application queue was a bit long, but it was manageable. I suppose it depends on the time at which you're able to go. I'd made my payment online so once my application was captured I was good to go. I was told that it would take up to two weeks for the passport and three weeks for the ID but both were ready for collection in just over a week. Thank you for taking a lot of the dread out of the process.

Was very organised from the time we stood in the queue till we completed the application and payments. I will tell you it definitely did help that I booked an online appointment first to go in( as they saw to me at the relevant appointment time) and finalize my ID renewal application that I had also done online. They sorted me into the relevant queue and I was done within an hour max. Got my temporary ID same time aswell so it was very smooth and very quick. Will update once I receive my ID

The online booking system is efficient and the staff working there are competent. The issue i had was with the security guard. We waited outside around 7 before they opened ,only to be jumped by some people who just arrived before 8 because they took the forms fast and completed fast and when we went inside we were suddenly at the back??? The security must monitor the queue outside , give out forms accordingly and allow people inside accordingly. It is not fair for us to wait outside for an hour and queue and only to be jumped by people who just arrived.

Wow! What an amazing seamless experience. Hats off to the new booking system for Id and Passports, it works very well. Benoni staff were very welcoming and polite. They definitely deserve some credit. I had a booking at 10am and I am already at home before 11am. Well Done!

Wish i could say -5 stars... hours say they open at 8. We have been standing infront of the gate since 07:10 . First the security didn't know how to make a queue. Then we had to wait till 9 before they open the doors. They were 1st singing happy birthday to one of the staff inside. Then they had some cake . By 9 people started complaining and thats when they finally decided its time to actually start workig.. I mean there are mothers with their babies standing here. Once inside the gates its another waiting game. No one is mobing... absolutely pathetic. The minister of home affairs must come stand in this queue when he wants something done like the rest of us and not give it to his p.a to get for him. Maybe then they will realize how useless this place is

The manager Mathibela Chabela in that home affairs office in Benoni behaves as if that is his personal business Infront of the interns he respond to queries so badly I am wondering what those fresh souls learning. He send pensioners and all clients who comes to the office without copies without copies, to go around the streets looking for an internet cafes and claiming that he pays for the photo copy machine and the photo copy papers for that office . I am a pensioner who needed assistance there from counter 9 the old official group sitting with an intern told me to go and look for internet cafe even though I told them that I told them that I have no idea of any internet cafe around. I reported that to the so called manager Mathibela who add d by saying yes they pay for those things and don't care how you do it but get copies and directed outside next door that they work with that internet cafe there. I found all this kind of service so strange and I wonder if Aaron Motsoaledi is aware of this or is this authorised by his office? I even asked if should I pay because I was tired of going up and down but they said" No that everyone knows about the copies. My heartfelt goes to the interns that are full there being trained by those kind of old about to retire rude officials and I wish they are protected from that department of home affairs bacteria of I'll service.

I was in and out within an hour renewingmy passport. Don't bother booking a time, it's first come first serve. It does help if you apply online and pay online as this makes it alot quicker when verify your details.

This is the best home affairs office in the country. They are very efficient and fast. All the staff from security, cleaners and management are friendly. It is also very organized with little waiting time, no matter the client load. They deserve 6 stars.

MAKE SURE YOU BOOK AN APPOINTMENT BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR WAY. NO WALK IN AVAILABLE Went to renew a passport and Create an ID for myself and my sister. They have a new entrance but there’s no sign on the old entrance that they have a new one which is BAD. The new entrance is just behind the old one, just walk around the block. Arrived and there was a security guard that told you that there are no walk ins available at all and that an appointment needs to be booked online for whatever service you require. When we went online there was no appointment slots available for the next two weeks at Benoni branch so had to book at the Brakpan branch instead.

Absolutely no system at this branch of home affairs. To put it bluntly it is a dogshow. The security guards at the entrance couldn't control a toy robot. There is no logic and no order I will never be going to this branch again. Also the website has the wrong address on it

Don’t waste your time! Branch has moved to Woburn with no notice on old address. New building is not ready so they’re trying to see everyone out of a van. System is slow and obviously not set up to deal with the appointments. Save yourself! Go somewhere else!

Big thumbs up for Benoni Home Affairs office. I’ve been there twice and they’ve been very organised - from organising the queue outside to paperwork that requires completion. I applied for a particular document on a Thursday. and it was ready for collection by the Tuesday. I was very impressed 👏🏽

Don't answer their phones, documentation take over a year if not longer to get from them. Rows are confusing to stand in and the service is poor apart from a few that might help you.

It's always easier to complain than it is understand and compliment. Massive thank you to Beverly and the team for supporting my 81 year old grandmother who came to the office alone and completed everything within 90 min. Everyone was wonderfully helpful. Thank you for supporting our elderly. You are superstars!

Needed to collect my passport only. Even though it was busy and the system went down while I was in the waiting queue, I was done within half an hour. Staff are friendly and helpful.

I booked on Monday, this branch was the only one that could help me this week. From the moment I got there, we were assisted as I which queue to stand. On the dot 8 the doors opened, and everybody was directed where to go. There was hardly any paperwork and no hassle. The staff was quick, efficient and very friendly. I will definitely recommend them. Thanks Well, I am here to collect, and it actually takes longer than the application process. One lady was biting her nails the whole time. In one hour she did not assist anybody. I am still here, about every 10 minutes someone gets helped, not necessarily in the order they came. Very disappointed. I am going to be late for work.

Department of Home Affairs Benoni are the real heroes. They are hardworking, efficient and fair, and the service was the best I have ever seen in all my life, in a government department.

this place does not deserve a rating why must I call a million times with no ANSWER as usual for something that should have taken two weeks and it is now three and a half months later I'm 8 months pregnant do you people realize I have not been able to do anything because I don't have my ID , pathetic service!!

Although queues were long, it is probably due to not enough equipment and staff employed by home affairs for such a big area. Once inside the staff were polite and efficient, my documents were ready within 2 weeks, I expected at least 4-6 weeks.

I'd rather not as it is terrible assistance especially the "info desk" where the individual sitting there dismisses you without listening to you

How pathetic! Booked on line and got an appointment notification. Nowhere does it say that Benoni Home affairs has moved! Finally found the new address thanks to a review on line. Got into queue to be told they are still processing the previous hours applications. Now an hour later we are told the system is offline. Seems like we will be here the whole day. This should be a negative rating!

YOU MUST BOOK ONLINE FOR AN APPOINTMENT on the dha website. It's called BABS We did our passport applications online on ehome affairs, did payment online. Booked for an appointment here through BABS for 9AM. We arrived at 8.45, were inside by 9.10, finished by 9.45. Staff friendly, overall decent experience

They just don't care. they make up their own rules as they go along. security seem to just do as they please. staff are not helpful. arrived with school kids for their I.d at 8.30 and was not helped for almost 2 hours because the rule that they made on their own is that you have to be here at 8 am.... kids are in their school uniform and still being ignored. then still another long que to take photos. kids missed the day of school

A complete mess. Booking system is a failure and only creates another unmoving queue to stand in. Had an appointment at 9am, was told to join the queue, given a number at 12pm only helped at 1pm.

Had a good experience today. New premises in Woburn Avenue are 200% better. 45 mins from entering to leaving for new ID card.

The most arrogant and disorganized staff I ever had to deal with. Took us 9 hours to do a first ID application for my son. Absolutely no order in these offices at all. Don't even want to think about collecting the ID there as well, Took a friend 3.5 hours today just to collect his ID...

the system is always offline, there is no efficiency whatsoever.I am a student who came to apply for my Passport, we were supposed to be their first priority but instead we're made to stand in long lines even inside the office. Absolutely pathetic, i missed a whole school day waiting here

Poor service, slow, uncaring, standing on a queue for two or three hours just to collect documents. Why not add employees to improve services. The actual rate is 0.

Poor mothers with a one week old infant are forced to stand under sun conditions for long hours without any help, the staff are just heartless..

I am writing this on behalf of my wife Adele Mouton. She was at Benoni Home Affairs this morning for her passport renewal ,and she was very pleasantly surprised and very impressed by the attitude, friendliness and efficiency of all the staff that she dealt with. Thank you Benoni Home Affairs, you make your citizens proud. pp Adele Mouton
