Really nice restaurant, the name suggested the basics but the menu was substantial with rare and unique dishes. Great service and a surprise exceeding my expectations.

What started as a search for a restaurant that would suffice, I ended up at Bread + Bar that, *knead*less to say, went above and beyond the *bar*. Our server Jessie absolutely made this experience one to remember. She is the kind of server you’d wish to have during any restaurant experience. We suggested wanting mocktails and she helped us decide on the perfect drink for our time here. We all were impressed with the drinks that were hand crafted and made with creativity from the bartender. Shout out to him. Additionally, I’d like to make an understatement. The food was spectacular. The chefs did a wonderful job on all three dishes. My chicken was the absolute perfect texture and moisture. The dessert also was wonderful. I have decided half a year in advance this is where my birthday dinner will be. Thank you to the wonderful team for hitting it out of the ball park, and making excellence your standard.

Had the Flat Iron Steak and it was delicious. My wife had the Fish Fry and it was tasty with shoestring french fries. Very good cocktail menu to get you ready for a fun dinner at a cozy restaurant.

Happy hour is the bees knees! It was our first visit and really enjoyed. Blueberry and porkchop was a well paired combo. Could have used real mashed potatoes but zucchini was perfect. Lamb was different not served in chop form but so tender and great fresh flavors with the dill and hummus.

Great food at a great price, with friendly and quick service! Ambience was great, with a harbour nearby to stroll along and take nice pictures. Ample space to park right in front.

A great mom and pop place that also has a bit of a French bistro aesthetic. In addition to the atmosphere this place also has great food including a much of European bistro mixed with some good American meals like some good fries. The service was super lovely and just overall amazing. With us having a super fast and friendly waiter named Kayla. My words don’t even deserve to sum up such a sweet and loving restaurant with some really good food, loving service and a cool atmosphere. All I can say is that this place is just a true gem

One of the finest gastropubs I've dined in. Every single bite was perfection. The gnocchi were so soft they could have floated off the plate and their creamy sauce was balanced and light, the filet was flavorful and perfectly prepared, the pork shank mole special would have made Rick Bayless proud, the crème brulée tasted fresh and light with a perfectly caramelized crust. Lovely, competent, and patient service from our server. Our only suggestion would be to add 3 or 4 Islay scotch offerings to the bar menu. All in all a wonderful evening out!

Our experience here was Top notch. "That might have been the best wedge salad I've ever had." "You can't have anymore of these purses, the rest are mine." Just a few of the quotes from my partner to me. She LOVED the French Onion Purses so much I only had one. That's OK because I got to eat most of the delicious Swordfish Entree and Octopus Appetizer. Great food at a great value. Recommend this place 100%.

What a nice casual dining experience with great food. Love the small menu with unique flavor profiles executed very well. The broth in the French Onion and the Chicken dish were excellent on a chilly night with nice flavors. Only two options for dessert by the time we ordered due to some selling out, but that happens and not holding anything against them for that. Highly recommend this restaurant if in the area.

Another terrible visit. I'm done. I didn't even have to provide feedback. Server... probably one of their most tenured... unprompted was apologizing and comping drinks. And if you make the mistake of coming here, don't get the lamb. Staff didn't know what the cut was - and I'd swear it was vertebrae. See photo.

One of the best restaurants I've been to in the area. Had a great time on Valentines day. The chef seems very personable and is checking every plate that leaves the kitchen. Great wine selection too.

Best restaurant in the St. Joseph area. Good menu, but could vary more frequently. Friendly service. Fair pricing. A bit noisy at busy times.

4 of us had an excellent meal. Apps, entrees, drinks and dessert were outstanding. Host and server were spot on. Can’t wait to go back for a 4th time. It’s been excellent each time over the past few years. Highly recommended.

We planned a last-minute trip to SWMI, and it turned into a dinner nightmare. The staff were extraordinarily rude at some places where we tried to get a table (Red Arrow Roadhouse, 221 Main). But that was not the case at Bread Bar - the host & wait staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome from the minute we walked in the door, and the food was excellent. We loved the tuna tartare and meatball appetizers, as well as the strip steak entree. A big 5 big stars!

Great food, great atmosphere, great service! Seriously, this place is a hit, top to bottom. Go, and have some fun. Maybe make a reservation first. Seems as though everybody's discovering bread + bar. However, if you do need to wait, it's a perfect excuse to linger at the spacious bar and sample the excellent selection of wines or delicious drinks and beers the knowledge bartenders have to offer. There is no downside.

Great food, great wine, great service. We had a wonderful waitress named Kayla i think, and she was so fantastic. Chef used appropriate amount of garlic! Would come again

I gotta say, we walked in with low expectations. We honestly didn't think this place was going to be much. We were surprisingly pleased. The food was absolutely amazing. The service was top notch. I spoke to the owners son who was very welcoming. Our sever was great as well. The bill wasn't as much as I thought it was going gmto be. If I had to make 1 bad comment it would be that the meatballs, although very tasty, they were dry. Otherwise everything was amazing and I would highly recommend.

I live an hour away so this isn't a typical evening meal destination for me. I was part of a large work group and we ate here last night. The staff was awesome and the food was great. My only downside was the noise level, but with all the glass and the number of people, it wasn't unexpected. It's a trade off of view for sound. I really enjoyed the appetizers, main course and dessert. My wife and I plan to make this a date night destination very soon.

We did take out because of Covid. The staff was very friendly. The food was delicious. A little over priced for take home. I would definitely go back though.

My friends and I were visiting from out of town and found this lovely restaurant near the river. The food and drinks were amazing and tasteful. We will definitely visit again when in the area. We luckily met the owner and his fiancée who are kind and wonderful people. Thank you so much!

Nice place. Reasonable prices, good service, solid food. I had the Caesar salad which was a cut above. For my entree I had Eggplant Parmesan, which was good. They serve bread with a great dipping oil. Worth checking out.

The lamb was tender and delicious. Paired with the cherry tomatoes and green olives made nice flavor combination. Old Fashion was nicely balanced. Cannot beat the happy hour prices. French onion purses are delicious little crunchy and soft pastry filled with the onion and cheese. Coconut cheese cake was nice but a little light on flavor for me. I was hoping for a more imaginative desert menu but all looked good. As good as it gets in area. Great atmosphere. Like the motif. Service was outstanding but we got the benefit of being there early. Place was full by the time we left. Definitely need reservation between 6 and 730.

Food is always great and they try to keep it changing. I miss their lunch. Make sure to go early as some options may run out

Wonderful drinks. Slow service due to being understaffed. Staff was attentive as they could be. Owner made sure to welcome guests and came by our table a time or two. It's the little things like this that go a long way. Food was good. Had a special pasta dish, not memorable but all the seafood we tried (tuna and salmon) were perfectly done. 👍👍

Was pleasantly satisfied with my first visit here. The atmosphere was super nice, kind of a diner mixed with a bar. I went for lunch and had a sandwich on their pretzel bun. Best sandwich I've had in so long! Great service, great food. I'm definitely going back and would recommend to others too!

Tasty! We stopped for lunch. Nice atmosphere with a patio for outdoor seating. We were hoping the Hot Sicilian was hotter (not spicy at all) The vegan chili also lacked flavor. But salads were perfectly dressed and very fresh. They served us bread with our meal with delicious, soft, spreadable butter. Nice touch! We didn't stay for dessert but they all looked wonderful. Pictured below: Hot Sicilian sandwich, Vegan Chili with Smoked Whitefish salad, and the Chicken Parmesan open faced sandwich

Had another perfect dinner at Bread + Bar last night. It never disappoints me and I'm always excited to come back. We sit at the bartop and Ian was the bartender last night, he was kind, attentive and knew how to whip up a good Old Fashioned. My partner can never try anything else to eat other than the Chicken Soba noodles, his fave. I got the braised short ribs for the second time, very filling portion, just ate the second half for lunch today. We don't typically eat bread, but we do not skip it when here. Onion Pearl's are like crispy crunchy fried onion soup in a pouch. Tomato Tartines are like the ultimate tomato cheese bread. Espresso and Creme Brulee is my heaven. We love it so much, we sometimes order a second creme Brulee because we find ourselves grappling over the last bites. We drive 45 minutes to eat here anytime we can.
