Really great large park with many different areas. If you come from the south you can get to a medium sized lake where you can swim within 5 minutes. There is a very small airplane runway nearby where you can see them towing gliders into the air so it can be a bit noisy but I didn't mind. You can then walk another 30 minutes through the forest to a "dunes" area which is very cool! A lot of space and a lot of sand with many private areas. You can then keep walking north west and exit the park and find many grocery stores and fast food places. Really recommend it!

Amazing place to take the dogs. Some people are power tripping weirdos though and will yell at you if your dogs are not on leash. But most of the time it doesn’t matter. You get to know what areas are farms and stay off that but it’s a beautiful place with a ton going on and the lake is fun to hang out at.

It is the favourite location of my partner to go for a walk. The location is located quite close to the city, yet you get no sense of the city while talking a long walk in this natural reserve. It looks Abit like the Lüneburger Heide, which is a major attraction in Lüneburg. You can have this is a mini similar sightseeing spot like the Heide. There are sufficient free parking areas nearby, gliders to watch, a small restaurant on the glider club. Moreover a nice small lake where one can go for a swim. Best of all, you can take a walk, ride your bike or horse on the horse tracks. It's truly a miracle that the second biggest city in Germany has such a beautiful natural reserve just a few KMS away from the main city.

Beautifully quiet spot, great for walking, cycling or lying in the dunes watching gliders sore silently through the skies.
