Nicely located, well equipped camping at the Elbe shore. Beautiful setting, lots of green, but also plenty of mosquitoes. Enjoy the spectacular sunset from the dam's top, dinner at the camping's restaurant or a swim from the sandy beach.

Lovely river cove, very cooling in the hot weather and has no current. The toilets aren't that great, the ones near us wear tiny and full of bugs, you had to walk quite far to get to the decent toilets and showers.

We spent there one night as a stopover. Enjoyed the proximity to the Elbe Deich for cycling and also a refreshing swimming in the river. Unfortunately for our kids the playground was disappointing, it's small and for children up to 4 years of age I'd say.

Talked to a nice chap on the phone, told him that we would be late, he said to check in in the restaurant, unfortunatly not even the young waitresses spoke any English. Checked into the machine and had suddenly paid for both a campercar and a car+ camper plus two extra people!😜 Fortunatly, we got a refund the next morning. Comfy and quiet place to stay.

A really well maintained site. However the transport links to Hamburg are awful the shuttle bus only runs on a weekend and we didn't fancy a 2 hour multi transport journey however the River elbe was awesome and this site seemed to be predominantly a German retreat not tourist friendly at all. Not a reason to mark the stars down as that's not the sites problem but reason to be wary to any Brits looking for a Motorhome park In Hambury.

We were pretty surprised by the site given the good reviews - we stayed one night and it felt like being on a festival campsite, or in an overflow car park. The pitches were marked but the area wasn’t particularly well kept, and felt chaotic. There also didn’t seem to be any rules about noise - most campsites ask people to keep noise down after 11pm, but we ended up next to a large group who took up a whole row of tents and caravans, who made noise beyond midnight, shouting and laughing, and we could hear music coming from elsewhere all night, and shouting from further down the rows. We had a long drive ahead of us the next morning so not being able to sleep was frustrating. I’ve never given such a low rating but honestly we couldn’t wait to leave and I wouldn’t ever consider returning.

We stayed here in a camper van for three nights. The campsite is in the countryside and is at least 40 minutes away from Hamburg. It is not easy to get to the city by public transport. The central part of the campsite near the reception is very nice, clean and quiet. The market has good fresh products in the morning (bread and pastries for breakfast, but also coffee and drinks). The toilets here are always clean. In the part near the lake, on the other hand, we had a very bad time. There are only two toilets for many pitches. The toilets were dirty, with a nauseating smell and some used them to pour black water. We asked to be transferred. The cost is quite high for the ancillary services: washing machine and dryer cost 3 euros and 4 euros per token. At the reception, they speak English very well and are quite welcoming.

It was a good but a little bit expensive camping: showers, water for the camper and electricity were extra expensive. The showers were far away and not enough for such a big camping. There was also little playground for the kids. They had a little cafe and a useful mini supermarket with fresh bread, buns and croissants in the morning. I would also mention the very friendly and helpful lady at the reception. Very appreciated for the efficient check in and the directions at the beginning and during the duration of our two nights stay.

This campsite is in a very nice location and it is of a really decent size. We only stayed for two nights which I think was enough. It's a typical German campsite with many permanent pitches. We chose a serviced pitch for our tent and we had ample room for the tent, gazebo and car. The actual campsite does raise a couple of questions. On check-in you're given a key card for the gate. The implication is that you need this to enter the campsite. Indeed we did after we checked-in but after that the barrier was open 247. Not sure why. Additionally you need to pay to have a shower here. I have come across this before. I appreciate that showers are expensive to run, particularly during an energy crisis, but I do think this is old fashioned. If you want to recoup this extra cost then increase the tariff. Finally, the bar shuts at nine. Nine! My wife wasn't happy... In response to Stover Strand's reply. The barrier was open for 48 hours, constantly. This doesn't sound like waiting for the waste to be collected. The bar did shut at nine. We were told this and everyone left.
