Every so often in your life there is something that happens that is so infuriating and unreasonable that you must complain about it. This is the case of Fjord Tours AS operating from Mollendalsveien 1A, N5009, Bergen, Norway. We purchased a Norway in a Nutshell tour (about $300) from these people for June 2018 as part of a once in a lifetime trip my wife and I were taking to Norway. In Mid-April 2018 my wife broke her ankle and by early May it was clear we were going to have to cancel our trip in total including the Norway in a Nutshell tour. I dealt with a cruise line, multiple hotels, an airline line, other tour offices in Norway, other ticket offices and in every instance I received all or part of our money back- EXCEPT Fjord Tours AS which apparently has a strict policy against refunds except if you purchase its cancellation protection. Frankly when I processed my order with Fjord Tours AS I was not even aware they had cancellation coverage. They had plenty of time to re-book my trip, but stand by their unreasonable policy. When I tried to discuss this with the people in the office they were rude, unyielding and inhuman. They recited their policy but conveniently neglect to admit that they are keeping all your money and providing no services. This is a racket and a scam plain and simple and I can only hope that this post/review and others deter people from using this tour company. Do yourself a big favor and book your tours through another company there are plenty to choose- but don't use Fjord Tours AS. DON’T FALL FOR THIS TRAP.

We just finished the ‘UNESCO Geirangerfjord & Trollstigen Tour’ which we booked with Fjord Tours. As we weren’t wanting to drive ourselves, we found it really difficult online to figure out the Norwegian public transport system so Fjord Tours made it really easy! Everything went very smoothly, all the transportation arrived early and left on time! No stress! The unexpected highlight for us was the bus ride from Geiranger to Andalsnes, it’s the most stunning drive with a few stops to take in the scenery and includes a boat ride (the bus drives onto a boat to take you across a fjord)! The bus driver also had impressive skills to get the bus down the Trollstigen road! Overall we were really happy with Fjord Tours and would definitely recommend!

We did the Norway in a Nutshell tour with them and it was our favorite that we did in Scandinavia. We did the tour that started in Bergen and ended in Oslo. The entire journey was so scenic. It was really cool to be able to take so many modes of transportation. The least scenic part was probably the first train out of Bergen. Our favorite two legs were the fjord cruise and the Flam railroad. It's not really a tour in the normal sense. They just book your tickets for you. The transfers were easy to find. We did the premium boat cruise and I think it was worth it. The boat was really nice. The inside had really comfortable chairs with outlets everywhere. There was also a cafe inside and bathrooms. The outside had incredible views. We had a couple of hours to explore Flam which was really nice. We had lunch at the local brewery and browsed some of the local shops. It's a long day. We left Bergen around 8 am and didn't get to Oslo until 11 pm. Unfortunately, our last train was delayed so we got in an hour later than expected. This is an amazing tour with incredible views the entire day. It's relaxing and beautiful. I would highly recommend anyone going to Norway to do this tour!

The idea of a tour is spectacular... then making it happen is the best... Then they must accept and respect the weather, since in winter it changes constantly. The Fjords are always enjoyed..

Our Norway in a Nutshell tour started off with no train departing at the time listed from Bergen. We were surprised to see that the next train also got cancelled, so we were directed to a bus for the first leg of our tour. Both of these disruptions put us behind schedule, so luckily I stopped to check with a hotel if the boat portion of the tour, the main point of the whole tour, could still happen. She found out and informed us that earlier that day, all boat tours were cancelled. It's important to point out that this happened with no communication from the company whatsoever. So we headed back to Bergen and wasted half of an entire day on a bus. This review in a nutshell: look at their itinerary and book it on your own through the companies they are contracting out for public transit. You can save yourself a lot of money and set your own timeline. The other companies might actually alert you of disruptions or cancellations, who knows. For a shorter tour that leaves directly from Bergen, look up a company called Rødne.

If I could give 6 stars I would. I was first impressed with the website and how everything was so clear. The booking process itself was seamless. But what takes the cake is the customer service. Each time I reached out with a question via email, they responded immediately and with specifics. The actual tour itself was nicely put together, we didn't have any hurdles and were grateful that someone had put thought into the flow of the journey.

During my short trip to Norway I took Sognefjord in a nutshell tour from them. Everything was so smooth and had a very nice tour. Fjord was magnificent. I enjoyed it. Thanks to all transport providers and the cruise as well. Thank you .

A fine tour of the fjords from Bergen. While it felt a lot like the Puget Sound, the areas around Bergen are gorgeous and unique. Next time, I’d go for a deeper dive into fjord country but for a 3 hour cruise, this was fine.

Excellent tour! The price was about 75€. They provide daily tours at 10:00 - also during winter time in January. The tour lasted 3.5 hours and it was totally worth it!! Awesome views of the Fjords. During the tour you will get some information about the Fjords and the small towns which will be passed by. As it was in January it was very cold and windy, however in the deck the temperature was very good. The tour starts near Zachariasbryggen. If I understood correctly it is provided by „Rodne“. So you might book with them also directly.

We had an amazing trip and everything went exactly as planned. The communication before the trip was excellent with information on each leg and tour. I loved being able to plan the trip on their website by choosing days, tours and lodging. We had 6 on the trip and every one loved the entire experience.

It was a wonderful experience. Though it was cold and raining, the sights were beautiful. The boat had refreshments for sale. The FLAM train ride was also a discovery , offering beautiful sights. The stop at Myrdal was quaint as a walk around the area was peaceful and scenic with streams and pretty houses along the way.

We used Fjord Tours to plan our trip while we were in Norway. We found the how process of selecting a tour and then adding experiences and accommodation along the way to be very straightforward. On the whole it has made travelling so convenient and we’ve had a magical time here.

I booked the Sognefjord in a Nutshell tour 3 months prior to arrival. Couldn’t have been more pleased with the tour and how smoothly everything worked. We had beautiful weather and no delays. Would highly recommend this tour and would definitely do it again in the future.

We loved this trip from Oslo to Bergen via Norway in a Nutshell. The entire rail, boat and bus journeys saw the most amazing scenery. It’s a great way to experience this beautiful country.

Extremely disappointed, we paid 2370 NOK to see the fjords up to Mostraumen but instead we got a ride around an island and out to sea... The reason is that the road to Mostraumen was frozen. It was -4°. Big disappointment on the website it said "all season all weather" which is wrong. The captain apologized and indicated that we wouldn't see the fjords once we were on our way back, not before because the microphone apparently wasn't working! The passengers were very bored. The captain said "that's how we have to come back in the summer"... We will not come back..

Avoid if booking as a shore excursion from your cruise ship. Zero protection in case of change in your itinerary. Cost us a lot of money, we were unable to make the tour and we received zero refund despite giving as much notice as possible.

Don't trust them! Company without empathy in the face of extreme weather conditions situation in Norway. Unacceptable customer support answer. We can t arrive today (10th august) to Bergen due to well known weather conditions problems in Norway and they are not able to give us a solution. We are only requesting to change the day of our tour because our train to Bergen is cancelled (indeed all trains are cancelled). In addition, buses and flights for today are sold out, so it’s impossible to arrive to Bergen from Oslo. But this situation it’s not our responsability. Unprofessional company!

"The tour that gave Norway a reason to hate it" I didn't finish this tour because of an avalanche, the train stopped halfway, and we couldn't move anymore. However, there is absolutely no refund. Not only the train tickets, I could never get a refund for all the travel packages. (train, cruise, ferry, etc) This avalanche happened for a few days, but the company sent me this email. "THIS WILL NOT AFFECT THE ITINERARY OF YOUR TOUR IN ANY WAY. PLEASE MEET UP AT THE SAME DEPARTURE TIME AS YOUR ORIGINAL TICKET." In conclusion, I don't recommend this trip. 1. You can buy tickets individually without this tour. 2. You can't decide on the details of the individual tickets. 3. This travel agency handles you buying these tickets in a single bundle and doesn't take any responsibility.

did the classic Norway in a Nutshell, very nice itinerary, 100% recommend from Oslo to Bergen with 1 night in Flåm. We did the trip with a dog, it is absolutely possible to do the trip with a dog as the bus 950 from Gudvangen to Voss is currently operated by Skyss Bus which allow dogs on board their busses. All trains/ferries allow dogs too. Great adventure

Unacceptable in every way. We booked and payed for an activity that was not open that day. We called customer support who instead of apologizing kept making ridiculous claims. A family of six forced to wait an hour beacuse of their incompetence. We received no information and if it wasn't for city tourist information center we would have waited even longer.

Horrible communication! No help! No Refund from this company! I booked a Norway in a nutshell tour which should be started on 8th Aug from Bergen to Oslo. But unfortunately due to storm Hans, I’m not able to start off my trip since the first train was cancelled. The company did not notify me about the cancellation and they did not response to email. I only realised it was cancelled at the train station. I sent them multiple emails via their so called official contact, demanding a refund (I paid over 8000NOK). No responses at all. So I have to send messages to their instagram to seek help. They promised a full reimbursement on instagram on 10th Aug, saying that it will be done the next few days. But unfortunately NO REIMBURSEMENT has seen up till now! The credibility and customer service of this company is unacceptable. And there’s no way I can claim my money from my travel insurance as this company has no official email to me that my trip was cancelled due to inclement weather.

I can't recommend at all FjordTours after my experience with them. Our train Oslo - Myrdal - Bergen suffered changes and issues after heavy rains in the previous days, which is unexpected and understandable. However, we had no information from Fjords Tours on the backup plan, the substitution journey had nothing to do with what had been told in advance, and we did not even know if we could catch later trains with the same ticket and what we could do if we missed the last one and not get to our destination (what we did by asking for taxi numbers at the village). Their website also lacks of any kind of relevant information. They don't care if any issues with a paid activity or transportation leaves you stranded in the middle of nowhere. FJORD TOURS DOES NOT CARE about any issues you may find at any of your transportation or activities and they offer no added value. Instead, it is way better and cheaper to directly book with the train operator and each company offering the activities, all easily found in internet and Norway's Best or regional tourism websites. As an example, we would be entitled to reimbursement from the train operator due to the delays encountered, but FjordTours provides silence as an answer.

We spent a lot of money on this tour, to have the cruise canceled and wait for 5 hours in a train station with no services. The company did nothing to compensate for our loss. Took 14 hours to get from Bergen to Oslo. Don’t book this tour.
