Det Hanseatic is a fabulous hotel thats built on a heritage structure. The hotel permeates warmth and that has to do largely with the lovely people at the front desk, who are warm, funny, gracious and relaxed. The service was wonderful and it felt like a family owned place that has the owner's touch. The location is excellent- right on the pier, close to all the restaurants and landmarks around town. Our room was spacious and facing the road , no issues there as Bergen is a relatively quiet town with oodles of character. Highly recommend this hotel over the staid chain hotels all over town.We would definitely stay here again !

Very loud at night because of bars with external seating until 02:30 am. Room technically not okay, several lamps not working, no AC, darkening of windows partly broken. Breakfast so so, Coffee undrinkable and awful. Friendly staff. Expensive for the worn down standard, we would not Return.

Excellent location, large rooms, and great continental breakfast (salmon, fresh bread, coffee, eggs, bacon, etc). The hotel is in the old hanseatic buildings so is full or character. There is a lift for ease of access. The rooms are good size and have a mini fridge. You are on the doorstep to central Bergen and harbour.

Breakfast was great but room was not so nice and staff at the reception gave us wrong informations about the room rate plus charged my credit card without my approval. Unprofessional.

This hotel is ok. We were expecting the bar and restaurants to be open which they weren’t (had we known that we would have chosen a different location because we have small kids). The location is great and the staff friendly enough.

A beautiful hotel in the down town of Bergen. Very near to restaurants and bars. Room is very clean and the staff is very friendly!

Great experience! We picked this hotel because it seemed authentic and old, but not old in a bad way. It was so perfect!! It's right in Bryggen, which is downtown Bergen so the location was PERFECT for seeing both sides of the harbor. The breakfasts were excellent and had a spread of amazing breads and norwegian foods, as well as some american foods too. The suite was a great size for our family of 3. Everyone we met who worked there was super helpful and kind, giving us great advice for transportation, etc. Zero complaints!

Great location. However do note that room size/quality may varies even though the price is the same.

Very nice and cosy hotel. Right in the center of Bergen. Very well maintained and a lot of history behind it.

The room we had was really dark and didn’t feel very welcoming. But it’s in a good location to explore and breakfast was great.

Central located in a classic bryggen style house, everything can be reached in 15 min by foot. But as the building is very old (bad windows) and it is directly located next to a nightclub we were not able to find any sleep. Personell mostly friendly.

We were not very happy with our room as there's no AC and the restaurant downstairs closes at midnight. Despite that- great location, food, and stuff. The structure of the building makes it feel like a museum.

Beautiful Hanseatic style hotel, with some traditional pieces from other buildings. Very convenient location. Great breakfast. Comfortable bed. Bathroom was nice (except for a slightly leaking shower but no big deal!).

Massive thanks to Eric and the team at DH Hotel. I really appreciate the help and pro tips re cycling and looking after my gear while I was out of town. Would definitely stay here again. Also rooms were super comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent. Location couldn’t be better too for museums, connections etc.

Had one of the larger rooms with bathtubs and sofa. It was lovely. Good bathroom amenities too.

The location is great. The building is really old with a lot of ancient wood. Really cool. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was superb. The rooms were really nice and comfortable.

I love historic, quirky hotels. I loved this one. Staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant at the hotel was actually very good, and God I loved my room. The exposed timbers, the sumptuous curtains, the clawfoot bathtub. The multiple outlets and lights were handy, and hotel staff was happy to provide suggestions on a way to spend a day in Bergen. I'll definitely stay here when I'm back again.

Be careful! Those room photos look very nice but you might end up ok the 4th floor which is the attic where the rooms look NOTHING like the pictures. (Tiny, claustrophopic, no bathtub). I went down to ask if we could get a different room to which the guy responded that those are only deluxe rooms that look like the pictures and they are fully booked. All said with bad attitude.. what was supposed to be a romantic get away for the first time since having a baby turned into a claustrophobic disappointment.

Great central location which makes up for being stuck in a dark sombre room. They always seem to be short of staff.

Good breakfast, nice and quiet rooms, comfortable bed, and enough space in bathroom.

Old house and warehouse turned hotel. Still has part of the original structure. Nice place to rest while visiting Bergen.

Quirky hotel with nice staff and great location and good quality breakfast. However, we were on the fourth floor in attic rooms with low sloping ceilings and both my wife and I knocked our heads several times. We changed the first room because of this problem but the second one, a complimentary upgrade, had the same problem and there were no others. That’s a big potential problem that could lead to serious injury. Beware if you are on the fourth floor. Perhaps the hotel should be alerting customers to this potential problem.

Unfortunately our window was on floor level of the entrance of another building. The entire hotel is really noisy, probably due to thin walls. Breakfast was good.
