Fish And Flower Market

Market

🫤 One of the few but biggest tourist traps in Bergen. Nice to look at while passing by the port but especially not to eat an average fish dish at a crazy price. People often mention fish, market, seafood, Bergen, prices, fresh, expensive, tourist, price, high,

With a rare day of full sun, we visited and then had lunch at the fish market. A pure show of variety and the possibility of eating while standing. Friendly people who want to make you buy much more than fish. Unfortunately also products from whale processing.

Food is delicious but WARNING you can’t bring this food back to the States. Despite what vendors will tell you US Customs won’t allow you to bring meat, even if it’s dried, back through customs. Fish is generally acceptable but not sure how they feel about whale If you are just sitting down for meal, great choice.

Nice for strolling. By a “fish market” I mean something different. I would describe it more as a snack street for tourists. Prices are relatively high. Still worth a visit.

(Translated by Google) There are plenty of seafood stalls, so you can enjoy it as much as you like. The price is high because it is for tourists. Feel free to sample. It is crowded with tourists. (Original) シーフードのストールが沢山並んでいて、ぶらぶらする分には楽しめます。観光客向けなので値段は高めです。気軽に試食させてくれます。観光客で賑わっています。

(Translated by Google) Nice tourist place to see and take pictures. The prices of what they offer are very high, you will only see food or buy from Norwegians who can afford the prices !! (Original) Lugar turístico bonito de ver y para hacer fotos. Los precios de lo que ofrecen muy muy elevados, solo verás comer o comprar a noruegos que se pueden permitir los precios!!

Not really that impressive compared with many fish markets throughout Europe, such as that of Cadiz’s. The price is also quite high, if you really want to buy something, actually you could just walk down the harbor to some fisk shop the locals will frequent, you could expect the price to drop 1/5 to 1/4 depending on the items (such as caviars or salmon tins). But since the market is conveniently located at the heart of the harbor, a leisure walk here is nontheless a no brainer itinerary.

Very interesting place to walk around, smell and try local food. Everything is very fresh and many places offer free samples. You at least gotta try it! I don't think I would try to carry any food back to the US, perhaps have them ship it if you really want it. I found the tubes of caviar interesting.

Everyone we knew had talked about it beforehand - we found it disappointing. A flat roof building with 2 retailers, each with a restaurant attached. Very large selection, but that's it.

Very strange that this location is placed together with the larger fish market with multiple stalls across the street. This place is in the middle of various stores and does not look like a restaurant but you'd be wrong. The best Bergen fish soup I've had and I've had 1. Maybe there are other better ones next street, next district or whatever but this was superb. Incredibly cheap as well. The mussel dish was top notch also. This picture is how I'll remember it, and if I end up in Bergen again, I know what I'll have and where

Of course it is a bit more expensive than other places but the view is nice and the ambiance will make you enjoy your time.

Tiny small (every weekly market in the smallest villages has more to offer), some of the stalls are not open at all (Saturday, August 29th and Sunday, August 30th, around 12 p.m.), exorbitant prices, disinterested sellers. How this fish market achieved its fame is a complete mystery and definitely not deserved. Save your time, the visit is definitely a waste of time.

Opt for traditional fish soup! Mega tasty and especially if you go for it in cold times mega warming (tip: add pepper it makes the taste so much better)

Was a bit disappointed with the market - pretty tourist rubbish. All offers only at an average level. The hotel's breakfast buffet was just as good. You get more from a fish sandwich on the German coast. First of all, overpriced, secondly, products are dubious. Since I like to question things, I found out where e.g. B. the whale salami was and what kind of animal - three traders could not provide any information. Analogous to other products. The animals on display in the aquariums were also packed together just for show. My recommendation - look at everything and take samples - is enough.

Fish and seafood market with many restaurants right by the water in Bergen. The views are great especially around sunset time where you can see the reflections and the boats. Food was very fresh and tasty, must try the spicy scallops

Would eat elsewhere. Good for photo opportunities & entertaining as the market sports a large variety of colourful seafood and tanks of live kingcrabs - this attracts a big crowd of tourists all times of the day. Beware that seafood can be extremely pricey. Cooking style is standard street food-styled panfried or steamed on a grilling stove. Actual cooked food don't look very appetising and the oil smells thick and burnt. Dining is under a plastic tent and the area can get cramped and noisy during peak hours.

(Translated by Google) King crab, snow crab, lobster, salmon, and cod are sold as they are, and you can eat them for cooking or take out. Seafood is not very fresh and is a favorite food of Chinese people. And food is expensive. I would recommend taking out seafood and eating food at the hotel. Season the fish with pepper and seven salts and bake it on a 200 degree grill for 10 minutes with strong heat. Finally, add chili sauce or chili pepper toppings.

Half of the fish platter is a salad. When you pay the bill, you suddenly tell you that you will receive 10% service charge, a feeling of being insulted by IQ. (Translated by Google) Now in February there was not much to see from the fish market but in the summer we already saw it. Simply great. The fish is freshly caught and the fish rolls are worth their money, apart from the fact that it is very expensive in Norway anyway. So definitely eat a salmon roll!
