An
unfortunate
bad
experience
I’m
an
ex
Wyndham
receptionist
(in
Guayaquil,
Ecuador)
and
I
was
so
looking
forward
to
my
wellness
weekend
at
Wyndham
Garden
in
Gummersbach.
I
told
my
boyfriend
the
service
standards
the
hotel
chain
has,
leading
him
up
on
what
resulted
in
disappointment.
1..
ATTENTION
the
pictures
are
deceiving
on
booking!***
I
booked
on
booking.com
a
one
large
bed
for
two
adults.
I
also
asked
for
this
as
a
special
requirement
for
our
room
as
well
(we
have
bad
experience
sleeping
in
a
two-bed
bed).
The
room
we
got
had
two
beds
set
together.
I
asked
reception
if
there
were
bedrooms
with
only
one
bed,
and
they
said
NO
BEDROOM
HAS
ONE
LARGE
BED
at
the
hotel.
Note:
Shampoo,
soap,
conditioner
are
amenities
inside
the
same
bottle*
plus
there
is
a
bottle
of
mineral
water.
A
kettle
to
make
warm
water
for
coffee
and
tea
is
available.
Nothing
else
as
amenities
besides
the
obvious
(that
is:
towels).
2..
there’s
mold
on
the
walls.
Our
room
had
a
spider
on
a
corner.
Besides
that,
we
saw
a
little
brown
animal
running
by
the
bed.
So
we
could
already
see
that
this
room
has
not
been
properly
clean
since
it
was
re-open
for
the
public.
3..
We
ordered
delivery
to
eat
inside
the
room.
NOTE:
in
the
Wyndham
I
worked
at,
deliveries
would
be
taken
to
the
room
of
the
guest
who
ordered.
We
went
though
to
reception
to
pick
the
food
that
had
arrived
for
us.
We
didn’t
ask
if
our
dinner
could
be
taken
down
to
our
room
because
when
we
got
the
call
that
our
food
arrived
there
was
just
a
“your
food
is
here.”
4..
The
breakfast
is
not
at
the
Wyndham
standard
at
all.
At
least
not
the
standard
I
know
from
Wyndham.
Usually
there
would
be
some
small
cakes,
different
types
of
milks
or
at
least
one
more
option
(there
was
only
cow
milk),
the
fruits
smelled
like
vinegar
our
first
morning
and
tasted
already
old
(or
that
they
were
not
stored
in
the
fridge
the
day
before).
NOTHING
was
labeled
with
possible
allergic
reactions
which
I
find
extremely
thoughtless
at
a
food
service.
You
might
think
this
is
obvious,
but
it’s
not.
Besides,
it’s
dangerous.
5..
The
following
morning,
on
my
boyfriends
birthday,
we
left
to
explore
around.
When
we
came
back
at
4pm
and
housekeeping
left
our
room
exactly
how
we
left
it.
Nobody
came
by
to
make
the
bed,
pick
the
garbage
we
had
(it
was
mostly
paper
wrapping
from
gifts
and
pizza
boxes),
the
empty
tissue
box
was
not
replaced,
no
new
towels
were
left.
Reception
showed
up
and
got
the
garbage
and
gave
us
new
towels
along
with
a
bar
voucher.
A
bar
voucher
we
would
have
gotten
anyway
if
we
voluntarily
asked
to
not
have
our
sheets
changed.
6..
it’s
a
wellness
accommodation
and
yet
there
are
no
spa
amenities
in
the
rooms.
Bath
robes
or
sauna
towels
for
example,
or
sandals.
There
were
no
spa
towels
at
the
spa/pool
either.
7..
second
day,
OUR
SHOWER
BROKE.
Both
my
boyfriend
and
I
hate
to
give
problems
(seriously,
we
both
work
in
tourism
and
we
know
the
pain
it
is
when
a
customer
just
doesn’t
have
a
fit).
By
this
point,
we
are
already
too
embarrassed
and
sorry
for
the
receptionist
that
has
been
helping
us
all
along.
There
is
no
way
to
get
the
water
running.
We
had
to
change
rooms
that
night.
Fortunately,
two
doors
down
from
where
we
were.
8..
only
the
reception,
restaurant
and
bar
are
properly
taken
care
of
and
have
a
sense
of
the
age
the
building
represents.
The
rest
it’s
an
outdated
hotel,
the
room
designs
are
a
sore
for
the
eyes.
In
summary:
this
hotel
gave
us
the
feeling
that
is
very
cheaply
managed.
There
is
no
supervisor
to
take
care
of
the
“4”
stars
it
has.
The
hotel
needs
extreme
renovation
(example:
they
are
loosing
70%
of
the
tiles
of
the
pool
and
the
room’s
wallpapers
are
falling
apart;
we
experienced
two
rooms
with
the
same
damage).
The
Wyndham
on
its
name,
gives
this
accommodation
false
expectations,
and
I
would
not
come
back
nor
recommend
anybody
to
spend
their
time,
vacation
and
money
here.
