Great location... great restaurant. Spent three days and two nights and had no issues. The breakfast buffet is served in the Atrium Cafe. Standard European breakfast. I also ate at the Aigner restaurant, which has a Austrian German centric menu that was great. There are several museums and historic sites that are not far to walk. ...and you have shops and restaurants in the square across the street.

Excellent hotel in a strategic position in the centre, just in front of Christmas market, the rooms are very nice, luxury furniture. Impressive breakfast and the restaurant is in every guide of Berlin. Very good value for the money

The good: The staff was great. The room was rather nice (we had a junior suite). Great views. Amazing location. The restaurant downstairs had amazing food (try the liver and/or the wienerschnitzel) and the warm and liquidy chocolate cake. Room service comes from the same kitchen and is equally good. The bad: A spa without a hot tub or pool and a sauna and steam room that didn't work. The staff really tried to help, but the saune a just sat there at 45°C and wouldn't budge. The steam room made lots of sounds, suggesting that steam was imminent, but alas, after 30 minutes we gave up on it. No USB ports in the room, requiring the use of adapters and converters. USB power ports should be a regular staple in all hotel rooms at this point. No sound system to plug your own devices into. The Odd: The bathroom has an odd layout with too many doors that get in each other's way. Not too bad though. Music boxes built into the wall. I kid you not - you pull on a string and music starts playing as the string retracts. One above each nightstand. Do with that what you will, but seemed like a German form of cute to me...

Impeccable service. Great breakfast restaurant, and the room living up to it's five star rating. I hope to stay there again when visiting Berlin again. If you have visited Berlin Stadtmitte long time ago, prepare for a surprise. The entire are is transferred into a dynamic and pleasent district for shopping, dining and enjoying Berlin.

The hotel impresses with its location. The Opera Suite has a sensational view from the three balconies. The suite is spread over two floors and is well maintained. It offers many amenities: minibar on every floor, two toilets, three televisions. Overall very well equipped. Small minus: the minibar wasn't refilled for two days in a row, as was the tea. It was only refilled after two complaints at reception. In some cases there were communication problems due to not very good knowledge of German. English was spoken better. Nevertheless, I give it five stars just because of the room.

Great location. Tube and mall are close. Around Christmas you are right next to a Christmas market! Most extensive breakfast ever seen in a hotel! Would go here again! Very friendly people work in the hotel. They even offered us water and towels when we got back from our run!

We had a wonderful stay at Sofitel Gendarmenmarkt during 3 nights. We were given a room on the 5th floor with a small balcony and a view on Gendarmenmarkt. The view on those ancient buildings with the Berlin TV Tower on the back is fascinating. Service was excellent, the bed very comfortable as always in Sofitel, small details of French art-de-vivre are also enjoyable for expatriate like me: Evian bottle, Lanvin amenities, Yves Delorme bathrobe, good wine and cheese at the adjacent restaurant called Aigner. Totally recommendable!!

Room was on the small side but had really great views across the square. Also our tv did not work properly and despite calling reception, it couldn't be fixed. Hotel is well located for museum island and other sight seeing.

We stayed at the Sofitel again for our first wedding anniversary and it was great again. Here the customer is king and the employees show this too. Everyone is very polite and accommodating. The atmosphere is very calm and you can relax nicely. The best place for this is the roof terrace near the wellness area. This time we had a superior suite, which was large and very stylishly furnished with a direct view of the Berlin Cathedral. The breakfast is also great, fresh juices and if you want something else you just have to ask. We would definitely like to come back! Thank you for the lovely stay!

This is a nice 5 stars property centrally located in Gendarmenmarkt with only 95 rooms. Within walking distance to Museumsinsel (museums island). Helpful and friedly front desk staff and a top nouch concierge. Highly recommended if you are planning a trip to Berlin.

This hotel no longer exists there and is currently being completely rebuilt into a new, different hotel!

The receptionist was very kind and helpful. The room was nice and tidy, very good hot shower! Not the newest hotel but everything you need, comfy bed, helpfull staff, nice bathroom. Location is close to brandenburg gate, checkpoint charlie, reichstag, friederichstrasse and metro stadtmitte!

Very good hotel in a best city location. Muses and most attractions are within easy reach. Great concierge. You can also stay overnight here with small children. The breakfast is excellent and varied. Some rooms have a great view of the Gendarmenmarkt. At night, with the window open, you can experience Berlin's turbulent nightlife. But thanks to air conditioning, the window can remain closed.

Central location in the immediate vicinity of top restaurants such as Aigner, Fischers Fritz, Borchardt and first-class shopping stores. Room is optimally furnished for business travelers. Good sleeping comfort, lived in a quiet room facing the inner courtyard for two nights. Really excellent breakfast buffet, fresh fruits, very good presentation of breads, charcuterie, various cheese products, cereals, etc. Very attentive, but always reserved service. I'll stay there again next time I'm in Berlin for business.

Rooms incredibly small. Some of the staff tended to be rude and unhelpful. Evening services including room service extremely limited and not as advertised, nor even really available. Every snack in the minibar contained peanuts 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️. Not five star and definitely not what I’d expect from the Sofitel. Avoid - there’s much better places in Berlin.

Sofitel Berlin Gendarmenmarkt is in a perfect location! Sights and shopping opportunities can be reached on foot without any problems. The view from our room (5th floor) over the Gendarmenmarkt was outstanding! The staff was super friendly and not too intrusive. In contrast to many other 5 star hotels, the WiFi speed corresponded to the standards of a luxury hotel. There is nothing to criticize about the room furnishings or cleanliness, the room and bathroom were meticulously clean. In addition to a TV, there was also a BOSE audio system in the room, which you could use to play your own music via an AUX cable. There was also nothing to complain about at the breakfast buffet, the scrambled eggs were freshly prepared upon request, and the selection and quality of the food corresponded - with complete satisfaction - to the standard of a 5 star hotel. The staff in the breakfast room were extremely attentive and polite! Central, clean, polite, tasty.. perfect Lovely again!

A small, noble fairytale castle in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Berlin and it feels like your own home. Small 5-star+++ diamond in the middle of Berlin.

The Sofitel on the historic Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin lives up to its good name. As we know from Sofitel, this 5-star hotel impresses with outstanding service and guarantees a stay in a class of its own. You can relax wonderfully in the spa and training is even easier in the really chic fitness room. The location is extremely good, you can reach the lively Friedrichstrasse with numerous shopping opportunities (including Les Galeries Lafayettes) and countless restaurants on foot in no time. The hotel is also located directly on the Gendarmenmarkt, which you should definitely see once during your stay in Berlin. The historic buildings impress with their impressive architecture and can be admired from many of the chic rooms in this fantastic hotel. Overall, the hotel was very quiet and relaxed. We really liked the rooms, especially the beds were extremely comfortable and ensured a restful night's sleep. The service was very, very good, they were clearly concerned about the well-being of the guests and there was nothing to complain about. The WiFi connection was great and available everywhere at any time. The breakfast buffet was also particularly good, with a good selection of high-quality, fresh foods. We would like to thank you for the successful stay, would be happy to recommend the hotel and would be happy to come back. :) There are numerous pictures from our stay on our blog lifeofdnd. com.
