As a quarantine hotel is in very poor quality,Rooms are not maintained well.Foods are worst. All low quality.Because of people do not have a choice,Taking advantages with low quality service and it is not worthy for charges. After posting above review I received unknown call to my room number from a lady who was speaking very harsh.Still I believe for 12500lkr payment per day service and food quality is very poor.

Its a bit dated. Overall its good. The staff are lovely but need to be taught better, The management don't really have a clue how to manage. Super helpful. The hotel owners need to invest in proper training. They could be generating better income while guests are in the hotel. No one coming around asking if you would like a drink etc. I would go to the bar and collect drinks, then the waiter would collect the empty glasses and walk off. No would you like another etc. a lot of little things really. The beach outside the hotel needs better cleaning, not just rack up into piles and leave it, again management. A/C problems as they are old units. All towels, rooms, pool are are thin and need replacing. The guys outside the gate to the beach can be very intimidating and a pain. The evening entertainment was decent on the Saturday night, but again no information when, what, where it is on. ( Management) Restaurant, you have to ask what is on, Buffett, Al carte? We were B&B, no one once asked us to come to the restaurant etc. So we went out to eat.( Management) Overall the price reflects this, still a good value hotel.

This hotel is listed as 4 star on google, which I believe is a terrible mistake. I visited with my family recently, and it was the worst 4 star hotel I've been to, the only thing 4star would be their rates. The Staff are very rude and unprofessional, hope the management gets them into some training program to handle guests, it was like staying at a cheap college hostel. The only plus for this location is their beach and the adjoining surf school. Its high time for this management to take proper action to improve their standards, this is very disappointing. At this range they should bring down their rates to match a "2 star" facility, which would be very well suited.

Extremely unclean and the staff was very rude. Especially the lady (Name: Purnima) who was heading the front desk. I do not recommend this place for any kind of vacation, function or event. Meals: Poor condition and no tasty. Cats are everywhere. Rooms are dirty and smell bad. Poor customer service.

I recently stayed at The Palms, and my experience was a mix of positives and negatives. Let's start with the food. The dinner and breakfast buffets offered a satisfactory variety of options, but I was disappointed with the limited choices available during the lunch buffet. Additionally, the presence of flies on the food, especially during the daytime, was a major concern. I hope the hotel management can address this issue promptly. On the bright side, the live music nights were a delightful surprise. The soothing melodies added a charming touch to the atmosphere. The pool was spacious and inviting, making it a great spot to unwind. However, the pool attendant lacked hospitality, which was a letdown. Regarding the staff, it was a mixed bag. While the reception ladies were warm and welcoming, some of the restaurant staff members left a lot to be desired in terms of friendliness. Furthermore, the punctuality of the staff was questionable, especially when it came to delivering our luggage to our room. The room itself was spacious and worth the price, but the bathroom felt a bit cramped. The cleanliness of the bathroom doors and the presence of yellow stains on the bed sheets were disappointing, giving the impression of a lack of attention to detail. One unsettling incident involved a staff member unexpectedly knocking on our door to check the curtains and bathroom door. This intrusion was unnecessary and unpleasant, especially when we were trying to rest. On the positive side, the hotel's beachfront location allowed us to enjoy the soothing sounds of the beach breeze throughout the night. However, during our stay, the beach area appeared to be less tidy than expected. In the morning, the flute player near the restaurant added a touch of serenity to our breakfast experience. The pathway from the entrance to the lobby, surrounded by lush green lawns, was a nice touch and added to the overall ambiance. In summary, my stay at The Palms had its ups and downs. While there were aspects that left room for improvement, such as staff friendliness and cleanliness issues, there were also highlights like the live music and the peaceful beachfront location. With some adjustments and enhancements, this hotel could provide a more enjoyable experience for its guests.

My recent three-night stay at The Palms in Beruwala, Sri Lanka, offered a welcome escape and some truly relaxing moments. The beachfront location provided stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere, perfectly complemented by the exceptionally helpful and friendly staff who went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. While the rooms were clean and spacious, they could benefit from some refurbishment, particularly focusing on the doors. Upgrading these elements would enhance the overall experience. Additionally, while the food buffet was generally good, it lacked in variety, especially when it came to showcasing local Sri Lankan delights. Including a wider selection of fresh, local fruits like mango and pineapple would have been a fantastic addition, reflecting the region's culinary offerings. Despite these minor drawbacks, I had a positive experience at The Palms and would recommend it to those seeking a relaxing getaway in a beautiful location. The exceptional staff and peaceful atmosphere are strong points, and with some attention to the rooms and a more diverse food selection, it could become an even more remarkable destination.

This hotel gave me a fantastic experience. The hotel is located near the Indian Ocean. The accommodations, in particular, appeared to be spectacular. And there are little tiny pounds all over the walking trails. There are numerous fish, turtles, and other animals. The room service was outstanding. even the variety of food that tastes and smells good. The entire experience was fantastic.

Definately recommend. It's a hidden gem with extremely helpful and friendly staff. It's not over run with tourists. The beach is beautiful - you can swim or surf. The pool is nice enough to cool off with varying levels. Though the rooms seem a bit dated they were impeccably clean. Dilshan was an awesome bartender and took care of us well. He provided great information and spoke great English and German! Perfect out of the way place for a few night get away.

This was our last hotel on a tour and to be honest not the best. The positives: view from the room, over the beach Spacious room. Good food options for both breakfast and dinner. All staff-excellent especially dining staff. The main negative: On entering the room there was a strong damp/unpleasant nasty smell. There was a significant ammount of mould in particular along the base of the tiles above the sink . Generally the room did not feel particularly clean. I do not know the cost of this hotel as it was included in our tour but I'm assuming it is fairly expensive by SL standards.

They don’t care for the locals very bad customer service. They provide twin bed to stay and didn’t gave a another room after requesting so many time. There isn’t any buffet portion is so small. If you needs to ruin your vacation please select The Palm

The overall experience is good. Food and the service at the buffet are great and there were a wide variety of food choices that suits everyone. Clean & spacious rooms. Some of the basic items usually provided at the rooms. The whole experience is well worth for the money spent. Thanks Again for the value added service and the wonderful experience given to us despite the worst days of my country.

Not recommended due to several negative experiences we faced during our stay in April 2022. We had booked 4 double rooms well in advance for 8 pax, but the rooms got delayed more than an hour to be ready after the check-in time, the hotel didn't even offer us a welcome drink despite waiting in the lobby for hours. The lady who manned the front desk doesn't know how to smile, and responded very rude when we questioned about the delay, she's totally not the type of personality who's suitable for hospitality industry at all. Even at the buffet, guests were waiting for hours even to get a glass of water, totally reflected upon the fact that they were running with short staff. The baby pool wasn't safe for kids because almost every kid who got into the pool the same time while we were there, got their feet wounded probably due to some sharp edges in the pool. I saw 4 kids with bleeding feet including mine at the same time. Food was generally okay, but the staff and service were horrible.

We had our batch get together in March 2023. We had a fun time. Good facilities for games. We stayed for two nights. Food was good. Happy to help us. Would love to visit again soon. Waiters could be bit friendly when serving.

We went on a weekend (Dec 2023). The initial step was disappointing. There were no towels in the two rooms we booked and they said that they can only provide 2 towels for the time being as the towels are not ready. We were initially given only one room and the other room was given at 2.30pm. but the disappointment was somewhat resolved after the staff friendly approach. The restaurant staff were really good. And the food at the restaurant was also good. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were served as Buffett, the options were good. Dessert options were not that good and only a few fruits were available.

I would say one of the best hotels located in Beruwala with a great sea view and accessibility. The staff is so friendly and helpful and also the buffet is good and foods were delicious. We were there for a day-out and we had a free room since we had ample members which is eligible to receive a room and room is super cool with a pool and sea view. Pool is okay but it is cool and great thing that we could access the beach which is so nice. Most of the beach which hotels have is not much clean and we cant go far . But this is one of the best beaches I have been to. We had a great time there.

This is an old hotel. They need to renovate it . Location is good , sea is bit polluted . Can see plastics and poythene here and there on the beach . Canal next to hotel goes to sea by the side. Food- They run on very economical mode. If the hotel is out of guests they offer set menu. If the hotel is house full, some entertainment can be enjoyed. My daughter got burnt her hand due to not barrigating action centers in the buffet. They would have checked details much better in terms of safety.

A little out of the way - most staff are very nice - the restaurant has no air con semi open and therefore humid and hot uncomfortable to eat but good is good. Rooms are good with balcony AC fridge tea/coffee comfy bed, TV only one English channel France 24. Personally would not stay here again.

We tried 3 rooms before finally getting one right. Even that one had to have maintenance attend to get the AC working. The first room, 101, was good but the problem was there was an all night beach concert directly infront. The bass shook the floor and windows meaning sleep would be impossible. I was told by staff that there was nothing they could do about the beach concerts. Be warned if you are staying here! Our last room was then right over the are that the house band played in, so again be prepared for a late night. I asked to be compensated, but only got a whole 17000Rs of my bill. Bit of an insult. Staff were great. Restaurant and bar was good. I guess we were just unlucky?

The worst hotel we have ever stayed in. If we could give it zero, we would. Soon arrival this hotel looked very nice and quite fancy with its grounds, but this was very short lived. The room we were first out it smelt so bad and was so filthy that we went back to reception and asked to be moved. The receptionist with the glasses was not interested and would not change our room, and sent staff up to mask the smell with air freshener. The air freshener was so overpowering that we could not even go back int the room. We had to call our tour guide to come out and help us. It was only when our guide arrived that the receptionist agreed to change rooms. The second room was also very dirty and had filthy bed linen, plus the staff had gone up again to mask the smells with air freshener before we arrived, so we refused this room. The third room was just as bad but by this time we had no choice and had to stay as we had to sleep for an early flight the next day. The pillows however were so disgusting that we got housekeeping to find fresh ones. See photos. Then, when we were about to go to sleep we heard a commotion outside our room. We went out a quickly realised that there was a major electric fire in the room two doors down from us that was caused by faulty wiring. Because the electrics were not isolated to each room, the fire sent the entire two floors into darkness with no power. The staff did not attempt to communicate with anyone about this and we were left literally in the dark. It’s only because we saw what happened that we knew. We went back down to reception to again ask for help as we needed to sleep but the reception again wasn’t interested in helping us. We again had to call our tour guide out to help us. It was at this point when our guide came back for a second time that we were moved rooms, and put into another block which was a bit better. I’m the morning we went to breakfast early as we were told we could due to the early flight, and we’re met by a very rude female restaurant manager who would not let us in. We refused to leave after everything we had been through the night before and continued with breakfast, as we wanted to eat and get the hell out of that place. The food was also mediocre! AVOID this place at all costs. This is NOT the 4 star resort it pretends to be and is 1 star at best!

We had a wonderful experience celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary at this hotel. The staff were friendly and made us feel really special. The beautiful location and stunning beach added to the charm of our stay. Delicious food made our celebration unforgettable. Highly recommended for an unforgettable vacation!

This hotel is nice in a beautiful and peaceful garden. Rooms were cleaned every day. From the hotel pool it is only a few meters to the beach so you can leave your things by the pool. Staff is very friendly and it's not problem to communicate in German. As a problem I find that in all inclusive it’s possible to consume wine only in the restaurant at dinner. There was bottled water in the room every day. The service at the pool was slower and we waited a long time before they placed our order. An advantage is that you can arrange a trip with a local person on the beach.

Despite visiting Sri Lanka many times since 2008, it is the first time I have had a long stay in an hotel. I really enjoyed my holiday at The Palms. Every person working at the hotel had a welcome Good Morning / Ayubowan for me as I passed through the building and grounds. Despite the foid shortages across the country, the buffet food was wonderful and varied and the serving assistants were helpful in advising me of the ingredients so that I avoided the really hot spiced dishes. The 5 course set menus with a choice of two mains were so beautifully presented it was a shame to eat them. The staff at front of house, those working in the bar and dining area and the room boys were always polite and gave their time, energy anf their thoughtfulness to make my stay comfortable. At a time when the country is in economic crisis and political upheaval and the people are struggling to live through such difficulties and hardship, I can only say how much I appreciated their kindness and wonderful hospitality

The hotel is managed by the Colombo fort hotel. Location is fantastic. Food is very tasty. The beach looks great from the balcony. The rooms in the hotel are very spacious. The bed is very comfortable and large. But the manager should be concerned about the cleanliness of the room as well as the washroom. Because the rooms are not properly maintained. The washroom in my room in particular is dirty.

I love everything here. But there are somethings which set me off. Staff is very friendly, food is tasty. Pool is big and had both very shallow and very deep ends. At night they provide a good classical musical entertainment. The view is awesome, Totally worth for what we paid fortunately for an offer.

There service and all were good other than food. There menus were not good and food was also not nice. There was a cashew curry, but no cashew in it. We were not late to lunch, so cannot say it was over. After the lunch my husband got a bad stomach, probably due to the pork curry, as that's the dish I didn't try, and I got nothing.

We stayed there for two days.. *Food was tasty.. *beach also great.. *Hotel was little bit old but clean.. The problem is there was a short-hair old lady in the management team and she is so rude to us😖, other staff was really kind and friendly👍

The worst experience! After waking up on the second day I noticed some insect bites on my legs and when I checked the room, I saw that the walls of the rooms where full of small black bugs. After reporting it to the receptionist she advised me that she will inform her manager to meet me after breakfast. I returned back, however she was still not available and the receptionist just told me that they will change my room in the afternoon. There was no empathy being shown, no apology and no value towards the customer being shown. I can definitely not recommend this hotel, due to the way complaints are being handled and not resolved.

The room was not clean & the rusty kettle. No wifi. Bathroom sink was clogged & many more. Maybe it's because we're locals. But I have to say that I regret coming here only to ruin a perfect holiday.

We stayed on an offer for local residents during August - the offer was for 2 nights, at a pretty discounted rate. Therefore, cannot complain, as it was value for money. No complaints about service, the property itself or the food, for the price paid. The property is very beautiful and spacious. The buffet is large enough and local dishes are especially tasty. The only drawback of my holiday experience was that there was a very large group of tourists (mix of local and foreign) that took up the entire pool during the entirety of my stay. The pool is not large enough to accommodate everyone when the hotel is full. Overall, no complaints about the hotel.

Awesome location and old but nice hotel. Had a great time. Very good for kids. Staff needs to learn how to smile. Management is more friendly and supportive than the staff. Dont leave your doors open as there are a lot of mosquitoes. Beach is very beautiful. Food is average.

Had a pleasant experience recently here. Good quality maintained overall in customer service, cleanliness, buffet food etc. Old property but very spacious rooms & garden. There is a big pool plus nice beach for a walk. Recommended!

Wouldn't recommend this place if your looking to have good food, as the food was average and the hospitality towards guests is so bad, they have a set of poorly experienced staff. Furthermore, the rooms too was average. Wouldn't take this as a 4star hotel. If your looking for a place with good beach access, then yes.. the only plus point here was the beach access and the pool.

Absolutely pathetic service. Especially the buffet staff keep policing around as if people were there to steal food. Make you super uncomfortable about serving a second time. Purposely delayed at live counters. Did treat the foreigners differently though and were given preference. Disrespectful! Pool and entertainment area not well kept. TT bats were broken etc. Wouldn't recommend. Especially the buffet staff go out of the way to ruin your holiday.
