Flies covered the cooked food. Small room, no working fan, dodgy plumbing inviting only to cockroaches! Poor security. Constant battle with mosquitoes that could get through a net with holes in it. Worst accommodation for the price in all of Sri Lanka. Too bad since the location is pleasant enough.

I had a great stay at Amuura! I've been traveling alone and I really wanted to experience the local flair through different eyes and perspectives - and this is exactly what my stay here offered. Claire, Paulina and Carlotta were lovely hosts, sharing about their experience and stories of the past years, here in beautiful Sri Lanka. This is a homestay which gives you more than a glimpse into their life, of course, if you have the curiosity to ask and the ears to listen carefully. They recommended places to see nearby and based on their hints, I discovered Galle and the Sinharaja Rainforest which I can dearly recommend myself further! The room I stayed in was newly finished, bright and very clean. I had a perfectly functional mosquito net and the shared bathroom and showers didn't bother me at all but I rather appreciated their intention of not wasting space and materials for amenities one briefly uses anyway. The house is beautifully designed and talking to them, I found out that Claire was the actual architect of the house - which is amazing. This is not your typical beach house but an expression of the hosts personality and journey. The food is delicious, breakfast is included in the room price but do try lunch and dinner too and I promise you won't regret it! The ocean is right outside your window, hammocks and green grass decorate the spacious garden. Definitely worth a visit!

Our birthday party at the Amuura Beach Hotel was an absolute success! We want to express our heartfelt thanks, especially to Nina and Ray, who went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was taken care of, making it a truly memorable event. With a group of 20 people, we had an incredible day filled with music, a delicious lunch, refreshing drinks, and the beautiful sea right at our doorstep. The impeccable service provided by the staff made the experience even more enjoyable. We highly recommend reaching out to Ray for anyone looking to celebrate special occasions like birthdays or similar events. The location is truly stunning, and their dedication to ensuring a fantastic experience is unmatched. Thank you, Nina and Ray, for making our birthday celebration unforgettable!

Our stay at the Amuura Beach Hotel was truly remarkable! Victor, the hotel manager, was incredibly friendly and exceptionally helpful throughout our stay. His warm hospitality made us feel right at home. The dining experience at the hotel was consistently delightful, whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The food was consistently delicious, and every meal was a culinary treat. The rooms and the entire property were always impeccably clean and well-maintained, providing us with a comfortable and inviting environment. But what truly took our breath away were the mesmerizing sunsets on the beach, creating a magical atmosphere. The hotel also offered fantastic excursions that are not to be missed. A visit to the local fish market allowed us to immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture, and the excursion to the opposite island was an unforgettable adventure. In conclusion, we highly recommend spending at least three days at the Amuura Beach Hotel. It's a place where you can enjoy Victor's warm hospitality, savor delicious cuisine, soak in the magical sunsets, and embark on exciting adventures that will make your stay truly unforgettable.

We stayed at Amuura for our last days in Sri Lanka and couldn’t have had a better final destination. Amuura is a hidden paradise at a place where you might not expect it. The villa, garden and the beach - everything is perfect for a couple of relaxing days. The owners of the house did a really good job with the layout and looks of the house - it was one of the most stylish accommodations we stayed in Sri Lanka. We felt right at home thanks to caring Nina, Rainer and their team. No matter what question we had, they were extremely friendly and helpful and supported us with organizing a couple of things. Due to the many nice hangout areas it is also a superb place to connect with fellow travelers - we were extremely lucky and were a wonderful group of people there during ihr stay. But also if you want to be on your own that is easily possible. I‘ll miss this place for sure and can only recommend it 100%.

Amuura Beach Hotel provided a delightful escape. Nina and Ray's hospitality turned our stay into a warm, communal experience. The antique Singhalese-style rooms were charming, and the daily surprises at breakfast added a special touch. The terrace with its ocean view and the beach's gentle breeze made it more than just a stay—it was a memorable experience. The strategic location, coupled with diverse activities, made our exploration effortless. Amuura isn't just a hotel; it's a haven by the sea where lasting memories are created. We look forward to returning.

I felt at home staying here. Ray and his staff are very welcoming. The property is beautifully landscaped and well maintained and the best part is it’s set on a magical secluded beach. Good place to relax and soak up the scenery. Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway.

Our stay at the Amuura Beach Hotel was fantastic! The food, be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner, was incredibly delicious, and every meal was a true delight. The rooms were clean, and although there were shared bathrooms, it wasn't an issue as there were three separate cabins available. The hotel also offers fantastic excursions that are a must-try. During our visit, we explored the Gem Street and learned so much about precious gems. Highly recommended 🔥

Our stay at the Amuura Beach House was really amazing. The house by the beach is like a dream – it's beautiful, big, and elegant. The garden is lovely with a hammock, a perfect place to relax and listen to the ocean. The beach right in front of the house feels almost private and is great for watching beautiful sunsets. The rooms are nicely decorated and have a unique style that makes the whole house charming. They have everything you need, and the kitchen is filled with delicious, high-quality food and snacks. They have a cool system where you can take what you want, write it down, and pay before you leave. We liked this because it's based on trust and made our experience even better. But the best part was how welcoming Claire and her daughters were. They made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. They shared interesting things about Sri Lankan culture, gave us great advice for our trip, and even took us on a tour of their cinnamon plantation. The plantation follows natural farming methods, so everything is organic and tasty. It was inspiring to see these three women manage such an amazing project with so much passion. And, of course, we can't forget the amazing food we had – it was the best we've ever tasted!

At the Amuura Beach House we had 2 great and relaxed days. A grandiose house in great design with sustainability in mind! There is a large open community bathroom and a compost toilet. Our room was very comfortable with fan and fine bamboo bed linen! Around all rooms there is a terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean and the sound of the sea around the clock. From the first second we were warmly welcomed by the 3 hosts (Claire, Paulina, Carlotta) and spent a great time with delicious Sinhala food and homemade tarte. The house is a bit off the beaten track in the middle of a paradisiacal garden with sea access, hammocks, volleyball court and swing. It is the perfect place to relax and at the same time very inspiring in all situations! I can highly recommend the amuura Beach House and we will surely come back again!

AMUURA BEACH HOUSE - or - This is what paradies must feel like!!! We stayed for 4 nights at Amuura Beach house during our last stay in Sri Lanka. We had a wonderful time there and can't wait to get back to that wonderful place again! The rooms are very clean and the facilities as well. We especially loved their "open bathing room". The rooms have no AC, but a fan. We had no problem with this, since there always was a light breeze during the night time. The house is very spacious with a big garden (incl. volleyball-court) and the (almost private) beach is just right there. The Amuura beach house is led by Claire and her daughters who were so kind, friendly and helpful that we almost just felt affiliated to their family and life during our stay. The homemade food (cooked by their Sri Lankan chef) is one of the best ones we had on our journey through Sri Lanka. The whole Amuura Team made us feel very comfortable and it was definitly not our last stay there. Definetly recommendable if you want to see how the lifes of people look like besides the "luxury-resort-all-inclusive-tourism-thing" ... ;) Looking forward to get back to this wonderful place...go on like this, AMUURA!

We had a great experience at the Amuura Beach House. The place looks like a dream! It's a beautiful house on the beach, elegant and very roomy. You have a fantastic garten, where you can chill on the hammock, listening to the sound of the ocean. Right in front of the house there is a beach which is almost private and it is very romantic to watch the sunset from there. The rooms are also beautifully furnished, with style. The house offers you everything you need: you can just take whatever you want from the kitchen (super nice food and snacks), write down yourself what you take and pay before leaving. It's a very good services and it's based on trust, which we really liked. But the best part of the experience was being hosted by Claire and her daughters. They are very welcoming people, and we felt home from the first moment. They helped us with everything and where happy to spend a bit of time with us, telling us about the Sri Lankan culture and giving us the best advices for our journey. Also, they offered us a tour to their cinnamon plantation, where they grow also all kind of vegetables following the permaculture philosophy: no pesticides, everything is organic (and delicious!) and respect of natural diversity. It was very inspiring to see how this three women are running this amazing project! Last but not least: we ate the best food ever at their place! We definitely recommend Amuura!

Paradise. Set on the Indian Ocean in delightful gardens. Wonderful 5 bedroom beach house with superb dinners cooked from fresh ingredients - mostly fish, each night. Communal shower room so fairly private but not completely. Loved every second of my stay.
