We were taken to taken to this place by our guide and they gave very good tour of the facility. In the end there was a huge pressure to buy these gems at very high prices which is at least three times higher than available in a reputed shop in Colombo. Fortunately we bought only ear rings which was charged three times. This was discovered by us the next day when we discussed this with a close friend in Colombo. Probably they believe that tourists come to this place only once and that may be the reason for them to charge like this. Not a good experience for us.

It’s a nice tour, however, there are some things you should know. I researched it after I went and this is what I discovered: 1. They are not entirely honest with what stones are from their mine, and what stones are brought in from outside. The only stone to be found in the mine is white moonstone. 2. The Tuktuk drivers take a good share of any profit from a sale, which contributes to hiked prices. 3. The artisans put on a show while you are there, but I’m not convinced they are the actual skilled men on the job. 4. The prices are scandalously high. Like 400% too high. Don’t get ripped off here. There are some good things to see, but don’t be fooled. I think this is a crooked operation run by scammers.

I wish I knew the name of the place before so that I would have seen all feedbacks from others in google. I can just agree to what they say: no mine present, especially not operating, most likely fake workers since they use primitive instruments, I wonder how they can create perfectly cut stones. Then, the employee who guides people in the shop says you don't have to buy anything, but eventually only tries to convince you to take stuff, and not one but many things. Prices are not written but made up at the moment. Since I m not an expert,I paid 120 euros for sth that later I saw in Amazon to be sold for 60. Very unpleasant to be scammed.

Visited today, told the depth of the mine shaft, but no illumination could have been only 6'. Saw the gemologist polishing and jewellery makers. Spotted a sterling silver elephant with tiny blue moonstone that I wanted to purchase for a friend, but as I deal in jewellery I know it was nowhere worth the $85 he wanted. 10% of his asking price would have been doable. I can honestly see why his reviews are so low, friendly advise = avoid at all costs!!

A nice little trip to see gems and herbs grown, but they pressure you to buy stuff and the prices are a bit high, especially the gems. Found moonstone cheaper elsewhere.

Nice place, nice jewelry, nice stones/gems, a little overpriced. Not so sure about the mine - maybe just a hole in the ground - anyway I do not think that someone really work in that mine, I think that made it only to impress you. Negotiations is the key word, so use it if you really want to buy something! Pushy sales man! You can find in the store all kind of gems from Sri Lanka and also other places.

(Translated by Google) It is briefly shown a mine from above and how the stones are washed. After that, you go to the shop, where one of the sellers runs after you all the time and says "buy, buy, buy".

(Translated by Google) the tour is quite interesting. especially for jewelry lovers. It is shown how semiprecious and precious stones are mined, washed, ground, cut. Separately also provides for the sale of spices: cinnamon, oils, etc. at the same time, prices are very high. and bargaining with mine workers is difficult. the only exception you can make if you provide a gift for a loved one (Original)

(Translated by Google) I do not recommend the place. The so-called guide shows the mines although you can't even see it because you stand above a hole in the ground. The poor working grandfather shows how the spoil is rinsed, and the grinders and jewelry makers start work as a sign that a tourist is coming. At the end they lead to a jewelry store and show jewelry that does not look cool and prices like from space. The worst point of the trip. I do not recommend (Original) Nie polecam miejsca. Najgorszy punkt wycieczki . Nie polecam

Superfast 'tour' of a hole in the ground then the VERY hard sell of jewellery. "Blue Moonstone is ONLY mined in this village, very exclusive" true or not? Very pushy persistant salesman determined to make a sale "I give you very good price" After confusing me completely with various prices for the same items I admired, I was deftly relieved of a months wage and back on the road before I knew where I was. Caveat emptor indeed, stand your ground even if there are 3 salespeople around you at once!

Entrance free , excursion free 😉 If you want to have very long and interesting excursion, it is not here . Two workers will show you , how they find moonstones, how wash these stones , and... that’s all 🤷‍♀️ After that , you go to the store . But, if you won’t to buy jewelry, the worker tells you :” Goodbye!” And will show on the door.

This place has a big area with cinnamon trees planted here and factory to process them. They have staff packaging cinnamon by drying them. The cinnamon leaves are burnt and used to extract into oil and after that they sell them. It's also good for toothache, headache, etc. They also planted tea bushes. There's a mine inside this place where they dug up moon stones and turned them into jewelleries like rings, pendants, earrings, etc. It's a good place to buy since they can resize rings on the spot.

(Translated by Google) Ridiculously overpriced. There are several "moonstone mines" in this area, the real and only one is signposted, the others seem to be copies. These are decommissioned locations. In our case there was a shaft down that we were proudly presented. The tour ended quickly in the sales room, because my wife was hobby-familiar with the prices of semi-precious stones, it quickly became clear that we had ended up in a rip-off shop. The prices are 5 to 10 times (!) Higher than in the jewelry stores in Galle and Hikkaduwa, certificates are available from the tear-off block. The arrogant-looking salesman rolled over quickly after realizing that he was at the wrong address with us. Nevertheless, again, beware, ground cinnamon is also offered there during the tour. We bought it, converted for 1.75 euros. These are colored wood chips that exude a strong solvent smell. The stuff seems to be harmful to health, so be careful.

Interesting tour but completely ruined by CRAZY ridiculous prices of raw stones and jewellery. Prices quoted were insane eg.£21,000 for a medium sized blue moonstone in gold ring. Wasn’t even worth starting negotiations with such RIP OFF merchants. The overly pushy sales tactics I saw other visitors experiencing was both upsetting (many were elderly tourists) and laughable. The styles were not unique (if that could even justify their prices) you could find them anywhere else in Sri Lanka. I would have liked to buy some of the uncut crystals except that I could have bought for half or a third of the price back home in the UK! What A JOKE

Tourist trap Our tuk tuk driver took us here after we refused multiple times. He said we HAD to see it. It’s only a tourist trap to sell you overpriced jewelry. After declining their constant offers at least 10 times, the staff became very rude and started muttering something in their own language. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND this place.

We were brought here by our driver who insisted to visit this "famous" place. That made us suspicious and it came out we were right. This "famous mine" is a simple whole arranged somewhere in the garden, people seatting there seem to pretend they are working (apparently only if some tourist come) and the "guide" is interested only in selling the stones (he were very unpleasent after we did not bought anything). The mine seems to be fake and the prices for jewelery are just crazy (taxi drivers and tuk-tuk drivers get probably a provision for bringing people here). Honestly, mind this place. There are a lot other pleaces you can spend your time.

The place is very beautiful. During the walk through the courtyard, we can see a mine, the place where the stones are sieved, sorting, polishing and working with silver. After the tour, there is a store with great quality products. The products have a fair price, as they are natural stones.

(Translated by Google) We were there in the afternoon. Did you know before that it goes there. If you book such excursions, you should know that many want to have them. There was an interesting explanation of the works. We had a lot of time to take pictures while we were in the showroom, we could drink tea, tell stories and of course examine the jewelry. I did not find it overpriced and we were all satisfied. You do not always have to get everything as a gift. (Original) Wir waren gegen Nachmittag dort.
