The practice is wonderful as a whole. But, Karen Petrisin PA is awful. She is very impersonal. Both my sister and I went to her at different times in our lives trying to come to terms with anxiety issues and depression. She made me feel like a burden and as if my thoughts weren't worthwhile. She was quick to prescribe and quick to over-talk me. She's just very brash. Not what you want in a doctor when you're in a fragile place emotionally and looking for help and assistance oh and CARE. I will continue to return to SHFM because of all other providers but I will not take any appointments that are available under Karen.

I have been through my fair share of physicians and facilities, due to a difficult diagnosis. I unfortunately had to see the difficult side of medicine as a patient. I was not being heard or being diagnosed or treated properly. I joined south hills family medicine as a last try and Ms. Nicole Ilgenfritz (NP), listened and didn’t dismiss any of my issues or concerns. She instantly had a good feeling of what was going on and pointed me in all of the right directions and set me up with the right specialist, etc. But most of all gave me a little bit of hope to hold on to. I was diagnosed and started treatment within a month after seeing her. This was about 3 years ago and she is still my GP, although I have a specialist for my diagnosis she still sees me and helps me through the steps I need to take mentally and physically. I will forever be thankful for Ms. Nicole and the practice as a whole. Ms. Nicole though truly goes above and beyond for her patients. She is not a typical black and white physician, she looks at all angles and figures it out! AND doesn’t make you feel rushed or as a burden. This practice has given me hope and changed my life. I will forever be grateful and would recommend her to anyone! Everyone I have personally dealt with in the practice, I would recommend. Friendly, caring practice. I would rate it/Nicole above 5 stars if I could. She just recently went above and beyond AGAIN for me with something I was struggling with and made what I needed as a patient happen. Forever grateful.

I’ll try and make this as brief as possible; I made this is account solely to provide a review on SHFM. 2 locations, 3 different doctors, and 6-7 medicine mixups later… I have only been going here for a little over a year. “Yahh you need your medication, so does everybody else.” I have to call every time I need a refill, because they either don’t send it or send it to the wrong location. I don’t have a car, so when I have to Uber to the pharmacy just to find out my doctor hasn’t sent over the script yet. I call at 9:30 AM and leave to get my medication at 2 or 3 PM. I try to allow time for them to get their work done. Incompetent. Time and time again. 12 fills a year, 6-7 mess ups… that is a 50-40% success rate… for filling up medication. No not even filling, just sending over to a pharmacy so they can do their work. I’ve never stood up for myself against healthcare industry and it’s workers. I did today and got dropped from their services. I called in Monday at 9:30 AM to refill, was told I needed to have a visit and to reconfirm where to send my meds (sounds good). I then left to get my script at 2PM, the pharmacy did not get anything. I called and was wondering why for the 6-7th time my meds were not called in. I was ticked off from this and other meds ups from that day and gave them a tone that I never give to anybody (I was fed up). I was belittled and told repeatedly “whenever you’re done talking, I’ll explain”. I chose to say some harsh words, which I apologized for and spoke with the nursing manager to clarify my concerns and like I said apologize. I was then told that there is a nation wide shortage and that I would need to call around to pharmacies to see for availability of those meds. I called all day Tuesday (since Monday was an all day event). It took about 5-8 pharmacies until I found one. I then called to SHFM to confirm and I was told they would call me back later in the day to reconfirm… I never received a call. So today… 3 days later… “hi thanks for calling me back yesterday, I called the pharmacy they still haven’t received anything from SHFM”… no apologies, no concern for my mental health or general well-being. The D-list (Do Not Use) staff: Jennifer (reception): will talk over you and does not care. Michael (nursing manager): condescending with no tact. Dr. Chatha: let’s throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks. Book smart, sure, bed side manner (tact), unsure. I hope that this review is seen not only by potential patients, but by SHFM. It’s a shame that people have to go through experiences like this. I’m a young adult, who fears for a world of incompetency and lack of empathy especially in the healthcare industry. My mom used to work with Dr. McGonigal and speaks highly of him. I’m a person who gives everyone a fair shot.. To SHFM, This is healthcare, not a business. I am a patient, not a customer. We are people, not guinea pigs. I am glad you dropped me as a patient. It was going to be done one way or another, but I hope this sheds light on what can be improved. I sincerely apologize if I caused any issues. I hope that you make the adjustments needed to give your current and future patients a better experience.

Had to take a firefighter medical exam. I over heard Dr Karen making fun of my tattoo to another staff in hallway. She was very rude during the exam, like I was a burden to her. All I wanted was to volunteer in Bethel Park as a firefighter. I would avoid Karen. The other Doctors were very nice and thorough.

Avoid this practice! Dr. Aiysha Chatha is the most condescending, inconsiderate, impatient, useless waste of an excuse of a human being. She does not listen. Her only purpose is to churn you out without addressing any of your concerns. It’s a shame because the nurse practitioners at this practice are wonderful. I have been going to this practice for over 10 years and won't be back because of this woman. She simply shouldn't be in medicine as she has no desire to help people.

I am looking for another place for medical care. I don't understand why I can't see an actual doctor. My x-rays came back negative. However, my issue has not been resolved. They didn't recommend other tests. I am going to seek a second opinion from an actual doctor, not a NP.

Incredible docs and staff! Amanda P. is a wonderful, thorough, and helpful PCP! I always leave appointments feeling peace/relief and better than expected! The front office staff are kind and very helpful with questions/concerns. I couldn’t be happier with my care over the years. Thank you all for going out of your way for your patients!
