Also known as Banabitan Biodiversity Park, this is one of the most famous parks in the city of joy, Kolkata. Abounded with a large variety of diverse floras, exotic migratory birds, gorgeous butterflies, fishes & a huge waterbody, this park is undoubtedly a paradise for nature lovers. This place is also popular amongst lovebirds, who come in huge numbers everyday. There is an entry fee of ₹40 per person, which I consider to be quite affordable, given the sensational natural environment and fresh oxygen, which you can treat yourself to, for excellent health. Highly recommended. 👍🏻

Central park is a nicely maintained park in the saltlake city.this place is best for nature lovers, bird watchers and also photographers.there are many trees inside you will feel like you are walking in the jungle.the lake is also very clean and the view is awesome.no entry ticket is needed in the morning,so one can visit in morning without any cost.peoples who stay nearby prefer this place for morning walks and yoga. Overall everything is good but the entry ticket is high.its rs 50 per adult.

It is a large park situated in saltlake.. position is very good but not well maintained. Ticket price is 50 (>5 years old) per head and 300 for each dslr. Ticket price is high but you can't get any suitable washing room within the park area. even you can not get any shop within the premises. What a horrible situation... it is poorly maintain.

This is an awesome place to relax and do bird and nature photography. I went there with a friend during early morning in March to do bird photography and it was great. There were a lot of birds and a lot of greenery. The area is also huge and it gives a forest-like feel. The only drawback is that the lake is covered with algae and other vegetation and there is hardly any water left. Its a great place to practice bird, nature and macro photography.

Best place for you to see how lonely you are if u r single. You will be surely depressed seeing all the couples doing hakuna matata. If you are happy with your hand (for taking pictures of nature)and strong enough to be confident about yourself then you can go and explore.

A very good place for couple and family members too. It's really unbelievable to have a such natural place inside a city. You really can't believe that you are in saltlake. The ambience is too good. The price of entry ticket is ₹50. Overall you can spend some quality times with your beloved ones. I will suggest you to visit there once. Don't depend on Google map photos. I also saw the photos before reaching there, which were quite disappointed to me. But after reaching there I felt some different. Just go there without any hesitation.❤️

It is very unkempt and has a derelict look with garbage strewn all around. The water body is choked 90% with unmitigated growth of water hyacinths. However, in spite of all that this park remains as the best alternative for the morning walkers of Salt lake.

Quite a big park. Beautiful vegetation. Some sections aren't well maintained. Has ponds/lakes and sitting spaces beside. Entry fee - ₹50/head.. separate cost if you're bringing DSLR or other related equipment.

It's a nice little park with lots of animals and birds roaming about. There is a great view of the wetlands with a boat you can take photos in. There's also plenty of benches to sit down and relax. Underneath all the trees is cool and relaxing and it helps you feel more connected to nature. When nature calls I felt the bathrooms were nice and clean. The only negative thing I found are the random guys who walk around and watch couples and women. They're so creepy

Huge park. Lots of trees and water bodies. Most of the water bodies are covered with hyacinth. Cleaning seems to have started. Trees which had fallen during cyclone amphan in Apr 2020 are still down. Work on clearing has started. crowds of walkers, yoga enthusiasts etc throng in the mornings nowadays. I understand entry till 7 am is free. Tickets after that. But there was nobody at the ticket counters even at 0740. Notices pasted there are a year old. Saw more than one entry gate. The gates are newly constructed. Will post more as I explore the park. Update. The entry to the park is free till 10 am. After that they charge a ticket fee of Rs 40. Many flowering trees are in full bloom now. The only problem here in the mornings is crowds of homo sapiens. Some of them prefer loud music while walking. Others strew around plastic packets with gay abandon. There are spots where burning of rubbish is taking place. Hope the authorities take action against this polluting practice. In spite of all this, there are serene spots where people meditate or one can just sit and take in the wonderful atmosphere. There are trees which fell during the cyclone last year. They are still in the fallen state and thriving and providing support to other plants and animals. It's a unique situation- a replication of what nature would be without human intervention.

Needs better maintenance. Morning 6an to 8am entry is free after that it's chargeable. It's a biodiversity hotspot with many bird & insects species. Nice for a walk and unwinding. Hope the authorities restore the park.

Central Park situated in Salt Lake is a public urban park. It is also known as Banabitan. It is the second largest open space in Kolkata Metropolitan Area after the Maidan. It is a favorite hangout for lovers. This park is easily reachable from the Karunamoyee Bus Terminus in Salt Lake. Central Park metro station and depot of Kolkata Metro Line 2 are located here. On the roads surrounding the park are the buildings where the West Bengal government has relocated many government departments. The park is built around an expansive water body. There is a bridge which connects on side of the lake to an island which has a pagoda. The lake serves as a haven for water birds like lesser whistling duck, common moorhen, white-breasted waterhen, rufous treepie, cattle egret, cormorants and other species. There are also boating facilities in a cordoned off section of the lake near the rose garden. The park has a very beautiful rose garden (near Gate No.1, opposite of Bikash Bhawan). The rose garden is bordered by rows of hedges surrounding the rose plants. When in bloom, the rose flowers present a delightful sight. The park's butterfly garden has several species of butterflies. The butterfly garden consists of several plots where shrubs and trees on which butterflies and their larvae (caterpillar) feed, have been planted. Dedicated gardeners maintain these areas under the guidance of Nature Mates - Nature Club. The West Bengal Forest Dept. supports this initiative. The butterfly garden can be easily reached after entering the park from Gate No.1 and then taking a right from the main walking track.

It was nice experience to walking in this park. The area is very big to walk or jogging. The environment is nice to spend some nice time. You need a small amount of money to enter the park but it’s worthy. I think the best time to go there is evening time as you can enjoy sunset. You will be able to see many birds and trees as well.

It was once the pride of Salt Lake residents, with fully functional exhibitions of butterflies, migratory birds, different plants. The fountains and other water bodies are now in a state of disuse. People have no sense of privacy here, you are stared at constantly if you are having an intimate time with someone. New gates are being built but the maintenance and upkeep of the main park is urgently needed.

Went here today and felt it is no more the well maintained park it used to be back to 2006, in my college days. But I would say it is still quite a clean park in salt lake where people can unwind away from the hustle bustle of the city. The plants and creepers have grown carelessly in many places (I don't mind as it gives natural vibe to the place). The waterbody is clogged completely by hyacinths. However unlike other parks it still have many large old trees that will still soothe your eyes and it is a nice weekend escape. If you have kid , just outside the park there is a children's park well equipped with children's swing , monkey bar ,slide etc.

Good place with lots of trees and big ponds and places to sit and do your morning yoga under the shade of the numerous trees there. Main point of contention...they charge Rs10 for even morning walk which seems unreasonable given that public parks are built with our tax money. Moreover, the maintenance is not upto standards.. the water bodies have water hyacinth and others covering them up...the rose garden patch is overgrown with weeds etc

It's a very beautiful palace... Is place is full of trees.... You can see different types of trees 🎄 🌴 🎄...I also say that it's a couple's park... Many couples come here to spend quality time with their loved ones... Beside also many people comes here for photo shoot or shoot short film etc...❣️recently... I saw that many forest officers of West Bengal came to see the atmosphere and the condition of the trees ..so much visit and enjoy yourself ☺️
