A historic building started as a catholic church, then purchased and converted to serve as a mosque, with about 600 years of history. There is also a place for women to pray, and a place for lessons to be held. The carpets indicate the direction of prayer, although the imam stands in the east. The language of the friday sermon is in Bosnian.

Unfortunately didn't go inside, but the outside is quote stunning. Quite historical, I think midievel. Originally a church, was converted under the Ottoman Empire. Definitely a must see and main attraction in the city center.

A medieval church turned into a mosque after Bihac fell to Ottomans in 16th century. Interesting to see the blend of two different construction and cultural philosophies.

Fehtija Mosque (Bosnian: Fethija džamija) is a mosque and former Catholic church located in the town of Bihać, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Built in 1266, it is the oldest gothic building in the country.[1] It was originally built as a Catholic church dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, and was subsequently transformed into a mosque following the 1592 conquest of Bihać from Habsburg Croatia by the Ottomans. The building was originally accompanied by a monastery, which was also mentioned in a 13th-century charter of the Croatian nobility.

I haven't seen it from the inside. But it is definitely unique from the outside. The only Gothic mosque in the world. It interesting to the elements of Gothic architecture on an islamic building.

It's a peculiar sacral object since it was first a medieval church.

One of if not the most Interesting Mosque in Bosnia and Herzegovina! It is the only Gothic style Mosque in Europe located in Downtown Bihac and is the oldest in Town. It was built after the Turkish took over the City and demolished the church on the location of todays Fethija Mosque with the word "Fethija" meaning Victory or Captured in Turkish. Absolutly recommend visiting!!

👍 It is a good place to have a panoramic view of Bihac and enjoy seeing the old fort. The location mentioned in Google will stop far from the fort and you have to walk but to avoid that, you need to continue driving toward the fort , there is a a narrow road which will arrive you to the fort entrance...

👍 Impressive stone building from the middle ages. It is recently renovated and now has permanent museum exhibitions. The main problem is that it is basically never open and only works with groups that have scheduled the arrival earlier.

👍👍 Famed architect Bogdan Bogdanovic who was eventually approached to design the memorial complex, who had already distinguished himself by creating memorials for mass tragedies, such as with his monument at Jasenovac. He was the unanimous choice for all parties involved. Sources assert that Bogdanović...
