According to the information at the location, Rai Bikaji made this first 'humble' contribution about 5 centuries ago, to what today has become the city of Bikaner. It is believed to have been occupied by a succession of later rulers. For some reason, there aren't many visitors. The guard at the gate painstakingly takes down all the particulars in a visitor's book, and I noticed at 11 am I was the first on that day, and there were less than 10 visitors on previous days. It is reasonably well-maintained given that there is only one caretaker. The tombs therein are scrupulously clean, though other areas could do with a bit of sweeping and dusting. All-in-all a nice experience.

the original fort of the city (the first fort built by Rao Bikaji), about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) from the city centre. Some remnants of the old fort are preserved near the Lakshmi Narayan temple.

Bika ji ki tekri is a historical place, the founder of bikaner, Rao Bika ji and later few kings used it as residence, this is more than 500 years old and is under conservation. People interested in historical buildings should visit this.

Bikaji Ki Tekari is a tribute to the founding fathers of the 500-year-old settlement of Bikaner. The Tekari, which houses the royal chhattris was made to commemorate the rulers of Bikaner. It is located just out side the city walls in the vicinity of the old palace (near the present Lakshmi Nathji Temple). It is replete with evidence, which provide insights into the customs and beliefs of the time particularly about the philosophy of life and understanding of the phenomenon of death.
