Visited this bustling food market on a Sunday, and it was teeming with life! Though seating was scarce and a few stores were closed, the diverse menu options and fair pricing made up for it. Delicious food, vibrant atmosphere. Four stars - a weekday visit is recommended for the best experience.

Disappointed, lovely walking inn and looks impressive but, most of the stalls were all closed they were being cleaned, closed or repaired. Those what were there normally what you would see at any given market. We thought we would try the pintxos (tapas) but they were mainly dry and cold or tasteless. Tables and chairs could certainly do with upgrading and service could be friendlier. But, it is worth going even if to have a look.

Fantastic food market in the heart of Bilbao, perfect for dining in. Just find a table and then visit the range of stalls surrounding the seating area and select whichever pinxtos look good to you! We visited in late August when some of the ingredient stalls were closed for the holidays which was a shame but the food we did get to try was great.

Nice old market hall with plenty of different pinxos to try. It’s like a food market and really worth visiting. Just giving 4 stars because the facilities were dirty (toilets and elevator). Other than that nice staff and good vibe. If you are with kids I recommend going before 6pm so that it’s not too overwhelming

Very popular place to eat “ pintxos” and drink beer, and local beer. Just close to the river. In a sunny day is even better. So, you can “ fish” or can compete for a place in the sun to sit. Inside is very crowded with people.

Great place for a quick bite or to enjoy sunny day lunch with friends and family. Ideally located next to tram and bus stop. Views are great. Outdoor seating is also great.

I loved walking around the food market, and admiring the local produce. Especially the fresh fish is very interesting, but there's a wide choice of meats, vegetables, fruits and other regional products as well. The food market also houses a couple of pinchos restaurants, and although we found bites in the city that we preferred over these, some of them were pretty good.

Clean market and a touristy vibe. Especially at the bars, which might all look different but if you take a closer look, they are all serving the same brand of drinks. They have tons on pintxos around all day. And yes, even though it kinda is a little bit of a tourist trap, due to their high turnover you can go here to try lots of different pintxos, from traditional ones to more contemporary ones. If I was short on time but wanted to experience a wide variety of them, this is where I would go to do so. The quality is good, not small specialist bar good, but good.

Classic city market in a lovely location. Nestling between the old town and the river the market building is over 2 floors. One part of that has a good court that has examples of the best pintxos and wine the area has to offer. Very convenient. If on a schedule then visit for wonderful examples of local cuisine. The staff are wonderful too. Careful tho. On Sunday the proper market areas are closed with only the food outlets open

A must visit if you are in Bilboa. Amazing food hall and market. Food is delicious, lots of choice and great drinks. A real buzz at the weekend and quieter visit during the week.

Some of the best food in Bilbao is sold here. For 2 euros per dish or 12 euro pintxos combinations, you can have a full meal of outstanding Spanish cuisine

The ground floor is full of pintxo shops, authentic and very tasty. Inside was very crowded but they have spaces outside to eat and look at the city and the river. The whole experience was unique, it didn’t feel like a touristic event but more like being a part of the city.

Visited the market a couple of times. The first was a hot Sunday afternoon and seemed busy with locals. We didn’t stay as there was nowhere to sit and the heat was unbearable.. The second time was later afternoon mid-week when there were plenty of seats and the heat was more bearable (not sure there was air con). We enjoyed a few drinks and the dessert of Bilbao. Would definitely recommend to others as there was plenty of choice and the prices were all reasonable.

The perfect place for Tapas/Pintxos. If you are in Bilbao you have to eat here at least once. You take a table and go around the 6+ Bars where you choose from an endless variety of Pintxos. Everyone will find something here and the price is verry good. Most memorable moment from our one day trip to Bilbao.

Touristy. Market is lively. Tried various croquettes pintxos eg; squid ink croq, cheese croq, tuna puffs, fish croq, and fried strip of pork. In general, the croquettes are cold. For the first time, I didn’t finish my food. The Spanish still has a lot to learn from the Japanese in terms of deep fried food.

Interesting place where you can find all in meats and fresh seafood, there is also a busy food hall if you feel like having some pintxos and something to drink. The architecture is nicer inside than watching the building from the outside.

This is a place with lots of good food options. I gave 1 star because there is no soap in the toielts! It's not because finished, it wasn't put there at first. What kind of a place, especially when serving food, doesn't offer soap in the toilets. I highly condemn this. I realized this after eating, otherwise wouldn't eat there.

It's a nice, clean market to buy wet goods and also have a meal. Unfortunately, there weren't a lot of food shops open when we went. The pintxos we tried were okay, but the place itself was beautiful. You can choose either to dine in or out, and the market in general looked well-kept and very clean.

Charming market next to the river 😊 with a wide variety of shops upstairs and a large assortment of delicious pinchos on the ground floor, good wheelchair access 🎉 it has an elevator !! highly recommended visit 🥰

1130 Sunday still quiet. Nice shops for drinks and great selections of tapas from €2.20- 2 50. Good coffee but beers, sangria or Aperol ready! Lovely center seating area inside or you can sit outside with river views.

Wonderful fresh food market. Delicious pastries, fresh fruit & vegetables & butchers markets on the top level. Eateries on the lower level. Amazing stained glass roof. So clean & easy to get around.

Hungry? Mercado de La Ribera is a food market with stalls dedicated to fruits & vegetables, meats, cheese, and the like as well as a food court - section dedicated to stalls selling prepared foods and tapas. So whether you plan to cook or not, go check it out. The olives purchased in the market section of the market were delicious!

This is a must visit if you are here visiting while on vacation in Bilbao or just looking to see something. This place had it all. Was nice to walk in and you have your area were you can order all the tapas and drinks you like. Next they have the area in which you can purchase your seafood, olives and meats. A huge selection of fresh foods for just about any occasion.

Nice market full of pintxos stands and bars. There are plenty of seats but its better to be there early because it fills up quite fast.

Impressive building. Cozy food market with fresh ingredients but also lots of delicious food and drink options to eat at the place itself. Lovely terrace on the river side where you can enjoy the sun. Would recommend!

We went here at about 11am for an early lunch and to see the market. The market is clean and sells a good variety of things, albeit nothing too surprising if you have been to an indoor market in a multicultural part of the UK. At 11am this time there are just a couple of places open for lunch selling pintxos. Although slightly on the pricy side they were perfectly tasty.

Excellent spot to try a variety of pinchos without putting in too much effort. Great location and lots of vendors.

Amazing place. This has one Central dining room where you can pick a table and then you go to the different little restaurants and make your pick between a large mix of tasty pinxtos. They also have deals if you order lager portions. Good for sharing with friends.

I didn’t like the choice and the quality of tapas. You will definitely find places better. The tables are sticky, noisy, dirty not recommended for food

A fantastic place to visit at any time. A true working market, where ypu can meet locals as well as tourist. The gastro area is fantastic and has great offerings. We were there for breakfast and where not disappointed.

I have been to many markets in Spain but compared to LA Boqueria in Barcelona, this market disappoints. It very clean and sells outstanding fresh products but it lacks atmosphere. It's located in a large building behind Casco Viejo and alongside the waterfront. There are also a few small eateries located on the ground floor where you can have small bites for lunch such as pinxtos. Prices are very affordable. The place is very clean and well maintained. If's a market where locals shop and I recommend a visit and get a feel of daily life in Bilbao.

The erribera merkatua is a very nice place to be. There are a few bars located inside the marked and you can by pintxos from any place and eat them inside the marked. On the south side you will have a beautiful view on the river and you can enjoy the sun. It is always nice to be there.

Impressive market with great food. Worth a trip

Went there on a mid February Sunday for lunch (or very late breakfast for us). Huge choice of pintxos from several vendors. Some also offer small dishes. Price are similar to those in old town. At about 1pm, the food-hall got really crowded, at 12.30h it was still easy to get a table. The atmosphere is ok, everything is clean, modern and safe. When planning to have late breakfast, be aware that the choice of sweet dishes is much smaller than for savory snacks. In sum, a clear recommendation and a good opportunity to try various local snacks.

If you're looking for fresh seafood or meats, this is your place. The smell is powerful, but it's very clean, and next to the "ria" (river) so it's a beautiful area. The pinxtos bars inside were very good, and most pinxtos we're about 2 Euros each, so affordable.

The refurbishment of the building was so radical (clean, modern but aseptic) it took away the charm of the old, busy, rich atmosphere I remember when first visited in early 90s

It was great! Fresh vegetables, meat and fish on display. Also there is a patry shop on the 2nd floor, the baked goods are delicious, you can buy one as cheap as 0.40euro. I particularly love the view from the outside, it's unbeatable
