This is without doubt one of my favorite hotels of all time! From the moment we arrived (9am on a Thursday) we were greeted with a warm, kind smile (Berta at the front desk) and it just continued from there. I'm a light sleeper and the sound-proofed rooms and black out curtains provide for the quietest hotel room I've ever experienced. Then, when you spread the curtains you are lucky enough to have the best view of the Guggenheim Bilboa that one could ever imagine. You feel as if you could reach out and touch Jeff Koon's PUPPY sculpture, it's that close. Everything in the hotel is impeccable. From the art in the room and public spaces (all by Mariscal) to the cleanliness and service... all of which are superb. I didn't have breakfast but my partner did and raved about the made to order eggs Benedict. The in-room amenities are worth pointing out also. Bath products by Dyptique. Coffeemaker and teakettle. Great bedding and bed. Oh, and the big feather pillows. You will love it here.... we certainly did!

Perfect location for Bilbao and the Guggenheim. From the moment we walked in, the service was on point. The hotel is artistic in itself, rooms are a great size (we opted for a room overlooking the Guggenheim) ,spacious and clean. We were offered and upgrade which was nice however, declined as we were only there for one night. The rooftop terrace is a great value add for this place an location, just pop up at night for a drink, over looking the museum and it's peaceful..... Also well situated for exploring the entire city with dining options located within walking distance.

Very nice favorite palace in north of Spain. Nice staff and very good services especially in the reception and the resturant. Below you can find more details about the hotel. The Gran Hotel Domine is the only 5-star hotel in front of the Guggenheim. Having been completely newly renovated in 2018, luxury can now be found in its spacious ambience, its extraordinary service, the passion for art and design, as well as an elegant and cosmopolitan style.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Beautifully clean. All the staff were nice and extremely helpful. Excellent location. Walked everywhere. Large room. Very good price vs other 5star hotels in other European countries. Ate here several times too because we liked the food.

Very smart hotel in a fantastic location. To go for an early morning run out of the door, past the Guggenheim and down the river was a joy! Great breakfast with terrace. And friendly staff. I would definitely come back.

Very good hotel in the best location in Bilbao. AmΓ‘is at the front desk was really welcoming and helpful, she made our check in a breeze. The room was very well appointed with very good amenities. Housekeeping was excellent and prompt. The breakfast at the terrace on the 7th floor was good, with typical Spanish varieties and a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. The service was excellent at breakfast. The concierge, Sara was really helpful and managed to tell us about various activities to do in the city. Checkout was just perfect and quick, and the front desk staff were great. a finally I would have given this review a 5 stars, but we were disappointed from our experience at the Cafe restaurant in the hotel. Bellmen were courteous and attentive. Otherwise, a great staff and a great stay.. we will be back whenever we are visiting Bilbao.

Fantastic value for location and quality of service. All staff were outstandingly prompt. They were always friendly and went over and beyond to help accommodate a last minute booking. Our room was a little dated but everything was spotlessly clean and the beds were really comfortable. Plus, a very good breakfast served over several hours. We would highly recommend.

Fantastic spot during my visit to Bilbao, the rooms were clean and comfortable the staff both welcoming and attentive. The restaurant on the first floor as well as the rooftop breakfast deserve their own reviews as both were equally fantastic

Great location for Guggenheim and tram to get to old town. Small spa is excellent, especially as the hotel staff were clear that a swimsuit was not necessary, so we could the sauna and steam room nude. Food was good, but breakfast very expensive, so we popped to bakery round the corner.

The location of the Hotel is perfect, in front of Guggenheim, literaly 1 minute walking and 15 min walking from the old town of Bilbao. The rooms with view allow the guest to wake up with the view of the architecture of the museum. The 7th floor, available for breakfast and dinner/ drinks has a higher view and lovely mix of greens. The hotel is fully equipped of all amenities, from a spa, gym, restaurants and the staff is kindly supporting for any necessity to visit the city. Great price quality ratio, perfect spot to visit Bilbao. Looking forward to come back

We were very positively surprised by the service, the location and the level of service in the Grand Hotel Domine. We can highly recommend it to everybody who wants to explore the Guggenheim and/or downtown and old town Bilbao.

Really good hotel with amazing location. We stayed there for a night, during a small trip to Bilbao and our experience was great. Everything you want to expect from a good hotel. The spa is small but fu functional and the gym is surprisingly well equipped. Rooms are large and functional. Overall, the architecture of common spaces is super nice, with inspiration from the Guggenheim. The breakfast with museum view is a real plus ! Overall, really good hotel in Bilbao !

We stayed in this hotel for five nights 20-25th September). It is absolutely fantastic. The hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location for the Guggenheim and nearby trams for travel . The staff were so kind and caring. They did everything they could to make our stay so memorable and wonderful. Everyone worked so hard and was so helpful caring and kind. The rooms were immaculate, so clean and the breakfast was delicious We also ate in the hotel restaurant which was so good. The best ever. Next time we will chose a better room as the room was quite dark with only a small side window which was not very nice. We were so sad to leave but will return soon. Bilbao is a beautiful city and the hotel is one we will never ever forget. Thank you for such a beautiful memory .

We really enjoyed staying here for a night in Bilbao. The service was fantastic. In particular, Berta at the reception desk went above and beyond to ensure we had the best stay possible - especially as we arrived stressed after our flight was diverted! Thank you, Berta and the team at Gran Hotel Domine.

For me it's a good hotel with good service. The rooms are spacious and clean. I won't say it's worth the price for me, but it is a five star hotel and they don't come cheap. The food at the restaurant is some of the best I ever had. Try the coffee as well, if you like it with milk you won't be disappointed.

Perfectly located and very comfortable hotel, modern, clean, artsy and a little snobby. Very good if the reason you are in Bilbao is to visit the Guggenheim. They have a cafe and a restaurant, but we found better options in the city.

We loved our premier king room with views over the guggenheim (standard rooms are on the inside and looked very dark). Excellent breakfast, nice roof terrace, friendly staff, good gym. It just lacks some atmosphere because of the size if the hotel , the minimal/modernist design and cafetaria style tables.

I stayed at the Gran Hotel Domine for 3 nights with my partner for a business trip and this is the best hotel experience we have had for years! The staff were super friendly, smiling, and helpful. We also visited the bar and the restaurant, and found that both the service, the food, and the drinks were excellent. The room was spacious, and the bed extremely comfortable. We will certainly stay at the Gran Hotel Domine, when we return to Bilbao.

We had the pleasure of staying here for 1 day/night before moving to San sebastian. Excellent stay. Decor and rooms were in great condition and delightful decor. The breakfast was a very decent spread with fresh pastries, hot breakfast available to order and lots of fresh fruit. Best of all was the service, both the front desk and service at breakfast, the staff were delightful and went out of their way for our convenience. Great location and very easy access to the Guggeinheim. I would highly recommend πŸ‘Œ

The service here is excellent. Javier in particular was very helpful. He gave us critical information about the airport (only opens at 5am) and even arranged for us to get breakfast to-go on the morning of our 630am flight.

  • 5/5 Stephen B. 10 months ago on Google
Really enjoyed this hotel, the staff couldn't do enough for us. On-site parking, easy access, and a great location just opposite the Guggenheim Museum. It was only a 5 minute walk to the main shopping street and 20 minutes to the old town, also only 10 minutes walk from the start of a street full of tapas bars. The room was very good, and the bistro was very good.

I would have given them 5 stars if heating system had worked correctly. As you know, the weather in Bilbao is so cold and windy. They should have turned on the heater anytime. Other than that, this hotel is so nice and clean, location is fantastic!

A five star experience at a 4* price. Recommend a Guggenheim view room which was quite spacious and had all the comforts and amenities. Breakfast on the top floor terrace with a wide variety of made to order dishes and attentive service. All of the staff were outstanding. Definitely the place to stay in Balboa. Special thanks to Diego, our doorman/valet/porter.

This was our second visit to Bilbao and our second stay at the Domine. Both times we were delighted we'd picked this hotel. The rooms are wonderful and look out onto the Guggenheim, the breakfast and the service are terrific, and the location cannot be beat. The staff are very knowledgeable about local restaurants and every recommendation we followed turned out to be excellent, and different from the others. Nothing is very far away in Bilbao and you can easily walk into the old section, about 20-25 minutes away from the hotel. But all around the hotel is good shopping, good eating and good people watching. If it's your 1st time in Bilbao you just couldn't go wrong with the Domine - location, rooms, service and breakfast cannot be beat.

Great stylish high class hotel. Rooms were very nice and comfortable. Dedicated and professional staff. Great location right in front of Guggenheim and close to city center. Offers a breakfast out of this world on the rooftop with a gorgeous view of Bilbao with Guggenheim in the center.

Great hotel with an incredible location just a block from the Guggenheim. 10 minutes from the conference center. Close to restaurants, a supermarket, fancy dining and poppin bars, and plenty of shopping. And the service was wonderful!

High end hotel with nice contemporary room setting, very comfortable bedding, and one big bonus is you can control the lighting in the restroom separately, so you can just leave that light on for the night in case you need to get up at the middle of the night. The buffet breakfast is so good, we like every items we tried, and the service are good too. The equipments in the fitness room are very good, and the room is kept very clean, towels, water bottles are well stocked. I am very happy with my stay here.

Best location in Bilbao, just facing the guggenheim. Amazing terasse on the 7 floor, where you will enjoy a real 5 stars breakfast. The Hotel also offers a great bar & restaurant. All in all, it's a good 5 stars hotel in Bilbao, a bit expensive, but that's the price for such a unique location.

Best location in the city to have direct access and views into the Guggenheim museum and the iconic Puppy sculpture. Good service, spacious rooms with hot tub, SPA is small but nice. Small disappointment on the room service food, which was quite average, not matching the rest of superb service level of the place.

Best hotel to be in Bilbao. Make sure you have a room with a view on Guggenheim's rooftop. The breakfast on the 7th floor facing Guggenheim is breathtaking. The a lΓ  carte selection for breakfast was delicious and the petite buffet presentation is very elegant. Cristina who serves the breakfast is very friendly, helpful and professional. All other staff were very helpful and efficient. We shall return anytime!!

Awful service. Our room has twin beds when we specifically asked for a double. It’s also tiny… you can’t even walk past the bed when someone is sitting. And the attitude at the front desk has been the opposite of luxury and borderline petulant. Avoid.

  • 5/5 Phil B. 1 year ago on Google
Nice room right across from the museum. The breakfast buffet was excellent and included Eggs Benedict and other menu items. The surrounding neighborhood had many good restaurants with outdoor seating. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

I will be reviewing only the rooftop. In any other city a rooftop with these views to one of the most iconic museums in the world would offer a top service, day and night. Tables and chairs are cheap, it closes at 0.00 but already at 23.40 you might not be able to go up, and they don't serve cocktails. My three stars go to the view: we tried two times to go up and when we finally managed we were so disappointed with the rooftop that we just took a picture and we left.

Stayed here for 2 nights before going to Porto and it was wonderful. Location is perfect, just opposite teh Guggenheim museum, we walked everywhere and it was safe, clean and accessible. We parked at the side of the street and it was accessible to everywhere we wanted to go. Our room was a bit small but it was very clean and we had everything we want. Gonzales at front desk is extremely knowledgeable, suggested us places to go to and we had the best time visiting other small towns near Bilbao. Thank you so much!

This is the best location if you want to visit the Guggenheim Museum. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable, and clean, with amazing buffet breakfast on the rooftop (though a bit pricey). The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I left my jacket on the last day and they packaged it and waited for me to pick it up. My family and I really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again!

Two day stay while touring the Guggenheim was enhanced by the Gran Hotel experience. Well-appointed rooms, extremely helpful staff, and comfortable beds with firm pillows. The 7th floor restaurant was wonderful for breakfast and a rooftop view of a charming city. If I had to complain about anything, it would be the tiny slippers that would not fit my size 13 feet. No matter, I brought my own.
