Diago was a great guide today! He is very knowledgeable, with a background in history and journalism, complimenting his knowledge of Bilbao. His energy and enthusiasm are his greatest assets. Definitely worth booking your Bilboa walking tour with Diego.

We had a great time with the guide Diana, she was very knowledgeable and passionate about Bilbao and the Basque country and people. Unfortunately the tour was bit shorter than what we expected (hour and a half) but we had great time nonetheless.

The two hours flew by in the company of Saioa. She mixed a lot of information about the history of Bilbao with tibits about local life and how Bilbao functions as a city. Highly recommend this tour. Saioa also gives ample time for folks to sit and rest at certain points in the tour which is quite helpful.

Cannot recommend Free Tour Bilbao after our experience both on the tour and with the company representatives themselves. I write this review after doing another free walking tour with a different company and am shocked at the difference in quality and customer service. Confirmed via WhatsApp the day before. We arrived early for our morning tour, only to be told the guide holding the umbrella was not scheduled to do the confirmed tour and that the last tour (which was also in English) had already left. Another couple who had booked on the website faced the same issue as us. The guide called management and told us to head to the market where the guide would be - no further direction, no follow up with the guide to ensure they would be ready to receive us and no accountability. We ran over to the market and fortunately, we spotted an orange vest much earlier and were able to join the tour. Unfortunately, the guide was incredibly nervous, wasn’t from Bilbao and therefore wasn’t able to answer certain questions from the group and had poor delivery - a company like free tours should ensure guides are comfortable and trained to a base level (naturally, by ensuring there is another experienced guide alongside for the first few tours to build confidence). I can understand the nerves when returning to post covid world and having to speak in English. I don’t know how the company operates, but our experience was not positive and when I asked what happened, the WhatsApp response was that they are very sorry for a computer error, demonstrative of a clear lack of accountability and professionalism. We chose this company on the basis of the reviews for the guide holding the umbrella who told us they wouldn’t be doing the tour. I recommend that the company aligns their booking channels and be honest about mistakes to clients. I cannot imagine how difficult it is to resume a business after years of restrictions but setting expectations is important. This experience is not unique to us as the same happened with another couple who decided the extra hassle wasn’t worth it and did not join the second tour. I added one star because the guide did have a microphone so he was audible and another because I was able to make the booking via WhatsApp with clear instructions. The poor experience is down to execution.

Fabulous, interesting walking tour of Bilbao led by Lydia. Lydia's enthusiasm, enerjy and knowledge made for a very enjoyable tour. All of our questions were answered and we really got to know the old town. Highly recommend.

Andrea was great, fun and kept the group entertained throughout the tour. Been here before but learnt so much and saw more interesting things!

Andrea's tour was very entertaining and full of interesting details and fun facts you normally don't learn in history book. And if that's not enough she treats you with her amazing voice singing a typical Bilbao song!

Just finished an amazing tour of Bilbao with Mikel. WOW. What a tour. Extremely professional, entertaining and highly recommended. We’ve done tours all over the world and this by far has been one of the best experiences we’ve had. Mikel is quite the character. His list of Mikelin starred restaurants was an absolute highlight. I had a fantastic tour today with Lydia. I did the historic tour and she took me all around the old town. She was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Bilabo having studied it, and I left the tour with a real understanding of the history and culture behind this city in the Basque region. We were guided by Mikel around the beautiful old town of Bilbao. Mikel was a superb guide, knowledgable, informative, humorous and thorough. Sharing details of the history and culture of the city and Basque region. He also provided information on the local delicacies and recommendations on where to eat them. I would highly recommend these tours if you are in Bilbao and want to learn a lot in a short space of time.

Andrea gave us a tour of Bilbao which was educational, informative, interesting and very amusing, she had us laughing at her stories. Fortunately, I had private guide experience with Andrea due to no show of other participants. It was nice to learn about the history and landmarks of the Bilbao.

Marina was a very enthousiastic guide, who showed us the best places of Old Bilbao with a lot of great stories & recommendations.

marina was THE BEST, one of the most talented tour guides i've had through my travels. she speaks spanish fast, but her accent is neutral so i could understand most of it as she narrated the city through interesting its history, legends, and culture, all the while interspersing it with jokes. i was not bored a single time (enraptured more like) during the 2+ hour tour, which is impressive if you ask me, 200000% recommend.

We did the Historic Bilbao (English) tour with Andrea and it was great! She walked us through the old town and spoke for more than two hours about the history of Bilbao as well as traditions, curiosities and more. She is great and very funny, she also gave some very good recommendation for food and drink, including a truly traditional restaurant that we loved. Great experience, highly recommended!

The Walking Tour was okei but the guy kept on talking about rather lame subjects and the whole group was bored at some point.

John was a lovely tour operator. He walked us through the ancient city of Bilbao like a Pro and gave us very useful tips. We were blessed with a day of sun and Bilbao was simply shining. I contacted Free tours Bilbao to organise 2 private tours as one of our group members had a bit more trouble walking. From het beginning the communication was smooth and easy and we could easily plan the tours. Both our tours in Bilbao and San Sebastian were great. Good interaction with the enthusiastic guides made it a wonderful experience!
