I do not exaggerate if I say that it was the most beautiful experience of cycling in my life, and apart from the emotional aspect, the trip was perfectly organized, and I will tell some important details for anyone who wants to try this wonderful experience: First of all, a warm reception upon arrival, and transfer to the hotel in Bilbao for the first night's stay. hotels were upscale and in privileged locations, close to the most important tourist attractions in the area, and suitable for starting a bicycle tour, and I can describe them as the best among all the hotels available there. Meals were wonderful by all standards, and they can only be described as carefully selected, including a Michelin Star restaurant, and a incredible seafood, and the variety of restaurants was the most prominent feature of the trip in general. The logistics was very excellent, and because I came from Bahrain, and the trip took very long time, I needed to prepare the bike and adjust the sizes in advance, and the bikes were actually ready according to the required sizes, I did not need any additional adjustments, and therefore it was very comfortable for me despite the experience of ascending The mountains are new to me, any problem with sizing may result in me not being able to enjoy the tours.. Overall, Bizi has proven to be an excellent organizer of truly amazing tours, I would rate them 5 out of 5, and would advise anyone who wants to have a unique experience to contact them.

I fully enjoyed my trip around the Basque Country with Bizi Cycle Tours. The Basque country offers loads of opportunities for cycling and Virginia knows every little road from years of training in the area. Moreover, the Basque country is well known for its amazing food culture and Virginia and her team have done a great job finding beautiful hotels and great restaurants to deliver the best possible experience. We had three days of cycling. First day was from Bilbao to San Sebastian. 120 km along the cost with 1,600 meters of climbing and amazing views. The evening was spent enjoying Pinchos and good wine in the streets of San Sebastian. It’s super lively, fun, and tasty! The second day was a loop east of San Sebastian. 68 km with two very beautiful climbs and a total of 1,250 meters of climbing. That was an easy one – just enough to give us an appetite for lunch in San Sebastian before transfer (approx. 1.5 hour) to the south of the Basque Country where it borders with Rioja. We spent the night in a beautiful boutique hotel in a small village with only 300 souls, but no less than 40 small wineries. On the last day we were gravel biking on small roads in the vineyards. Super beautiful with the vines, the river Ebro and a beautiful mountain range as a backdrop. We also had a few steep hills to spice it up a bit 🙂 You can bring your own bike, but Bizi Cycle Tours also supply high quality bikes including gravel e-bikes which one member of our group also used on the first two days to keep up with the rest. Virginia is of course a strong cyclist, but was strikes me the most about her, is her enthusiasm. You can really tell that she loves the Basque Country and enjoys sharing it with her guests. She and her team delivered a great experience and I warmly recommend her and Bizi Cycle Tours.

Best Cycling Tour operator in the Basque Country, bar none. As a triathlete for two decades Virginia Berasategui has trained in just every road around Bizkaia, and knows the best places to ride, and the best places to stop for a Pintxo and a caña. Ander is the great organizer and administrator. Very accommodating and detail oriented, and all for reasonable prices.

A special place with a special cycling culture. I really cannot recommend this incredible trip enough to all cyclists who want to experience an incredible region that has divine food, charming people and stunning cycle routes from climbs through to gravel. The whole team are so warm and caring. Virginia is an amazing person who's passion for her home area and cycling are just utterly infectious. Supported by her husband Ander, they are the dream duo! Also, the rest of the team bring a real friendly feel to the trip. Across the three days of cycling, the routes opened my eyes to the real beauty of the region and its people who are as passionate about cycling as any Italian I have met! With some stunning climbs and descents that drop down to sea level, I have never experienced cycling on this level. It is easy to see why the region has produced so many amazing bike riders. Specifically, the guides to the routes in David and Felipe were great people who's passion for their home is infectious as Virginia's. The schedule, hotels and restaurants all offered a great level of luxury that felt well deserved after a hard day's riding. Notably, the array of food on offer in the region is incredible from fish through to tortilla that is simply out of this world. The Basque people really do know how to put on a meal! All in all, I would recommend this trip to anyone that wants to discover a extraordinary place with a strong cycling culture. With so much still left to discover, I cannot wait to return to the region and sample it all over again!

This was a trip to remember, on so many levels. I knew before starting the tour that it had all the ingredients for a superb experience, but I had underestimated quite how much I was going to love it. I've been on many organised tours in the past, some high-end and some less so, but this was hands down the best of the lot. The Basque Country is an exquisite part of the world to visit, and the way Virginia knew all the roads (and most of the people :)) was so impressive. Having this kind of connection to the area made the week so special, from hearing stories to getting to try out the best food and drink places that other tourists don't yet know about. Nothing was too much trouble and the vibe created on the trip was always fun and kind. I cannot recommend Anders and Virginia enough. Avoid regrets and book up your spot!

This is a first class bicycle company. They arrived to our pick up point earlier than on time, they made sure everybody’s gear fit them appropriately. When there was an equipment aberration, we stopped first at a cycle shop and purchased what was needed to make our ride its best. I’m sure this required purchase ate into the company profits for the day, and yet it showed our group that they were more interested in getting it right than they were making money. Virginia is an outstanding tour guide, very amiable, informative; Zander in the support vehicle was excellent help and very timely when he was needed. Virginia took us beside the coast, on one of the legs of the Tour de France. Along the way, having heard about our interest in local produce, she stopped by the home of a friend who spontaneously treated us to homegrown tomatoes, pickled guindillas, home cured anchovies, cheese, bread, and wine. Such hospitality and concern is not often seen. Six stars out of five

I had a fantastic 3 day bike trip around Bilbao, San Sebastian and the Rioja with Bizi Cycle Tours. Their personal connections with the hotels, the coffee stops, the restaurants, the bike manufacturers, the tour guides, make them really special. Any one can try to organize a bike trip, but to me, Bizi Cycle Tours really succeeded in making me understand a bit better what the Basque Country has to offer and why the Basque people are so proud of it (and rightly so!).

Just back from “Basque Country Week” (BCT) with Bizi Cycle Tours, and am delighted to recommend this trip for avid cyclist-foodies, like me. (I’m actually not a huge foodie at home, but there’s something about being on a cycling trip that gives one the chance, the privilege, to indulge a bit more and savor the moment.) Each of the 6 days was different, and each had something truly special that made it memorable. We were on road bikes for 4 days and e-gravel bikes for 2. I used the company’s rental bikes, the Trek Emonda SL6 Disk (with carbon wheels), and the BH Core Gravelx Carbon 2.6 gravel e-bike, and was really pleased with the bikes. They were in excellent condition, and minor adjustments were made promptly as needed. One of our group that doesn’t ride as often chose the gravel e-bike for the road days too, and that worked out well. Some of the ride highlights included climbs to magnificent coastal views, fantastic lunches, and a wine tasting after a fun ride on the gravel e-bikes through the vineyards. Virginia and Ander and Felipe also adapted and pivoted to grasp opportunities – e.g., on our 2nd day in the wine country, we had lunch alongside a plaza where a festival of sorts was underway (‘simulated running of the bulls for all ages’). We were soon immersed in the frivolity and the situation, and enjoyed it immensely. I would assume that event is a once-a-year thing in that village, and local insight allowed the team to adjust the day’s route to include it. That’s emblematic of BCT – there’s a sense of spontaneity, enthusiasm, and wonder that comes across as genuine. Ander and Virginia and the team are taking what’s best of Basque Country and using their connections and relationships to provide an insider’s route to intimate and unforgettable experiences. In their intro talk on day 0, they said they wanted to welcome us into their extended cycling family; and they did. I would be remiss not to mention the courteousness of the drivers. We often had cars and trucks patiently waiting for a good spot to pass. There were also signs along the roadways indicating the legal distance to pass a cyclist. That welcoming of cyclists as recognized road users, which is sometimes lacking in other destinations, really enhanced the experience.

For anyone who wants a REAL cycling adventure with first-class accomodations in unique hotels, food that is never-ending and exquisite in taste & presentation, a team of professionals who cater to your every need, and athletes/guides who will take you on breath-taking rides on mountains and through vineyards, there is no other tour company I know of than BIZI CYCLE TOURS. I was with a group of 6 men from all around Europe who are much more skilled cyclists than I am with experience climbing and descending but the Bizi team gave me the personal attention I needed to keep up during the 3 days of intense cycling. I was never made to feel "left behind" although this adventure was grueling for me. In fact, although I wasn't at the level the other participants were, this tour challenged me and when I returned to "flat" Miami, I made myself a promise to practice on our only "hill" here and return to the Basque Country for another adventure with BIZI CYCLE TOURS. This trip will challenge you but also make you feel like "King or Queen of the Mountains". Thank you to Virginia Berasatequi (world-champion tri-athlete) and her husband Ander Ortiz de Zarate, the founders of Bizi, and the Bizi team of David Lopez (Team Sky), Felipe Luzuriaga (awesome gravel guide), Oihana Lazpita, and Maitane Regil for the best experience on a bike and a spectacular introduction to the Basque Country. I will be back!

I did two fantastic rides with them and I highly recommend. Service and guiding. One gravel on mountains trails in Bilbao surroundings, and one on the roads from first stage of Tour de France 2023. Virginia was very knowledgable of the area and was a very professional guide. Thanks for a fantastic week end.

A group of us attended the Tour de France VIP Tour and we weren’t disappointed. It was everything it promised: great organization, wonderful people, super accommodation and loads of fun. The best thing was the local knowledge of the roads and restaurants. If you’re looking for a great experience, look no further. I highly recommend Bizi.

Tour de France 2023 Grand Depart Bilbao I joined the 6 days programme with with Virginia + tour guide Felipe. We were at the start of the Tour de France in Bilbao and at the finish on the same day in Bilbao, Also at the finish next day in San Sebastian. It was great to enjoy the atmosphere. On the first 5 days we were doing parts of the first 3 stages of the Tour with our nice rented Trek Emonda carbon bikes. They are really good performance. We also did the famous Jaizkibel climb near San Sebastian just a few hours before the profis arrived. Many spectators were already at the road and the atmosphere was already very party-like. The hotels in Bilbao and San Sebastian very nice and stylish, so were also the restaurants we went to. We had a lot of very nice local food, fish dishes, nice local wine. On the last night in famous old town of San Sebastian we went to a nice pintxos bar where we had fantastic pintxos, nice wine and beer and a good party with all members and Virginia and her nice husband Ander. Virginia and Ander and the whole team with guides, professional photographers, drivers were so nice and very helpful, they gave every support needed. The organization of the tour was incredibly good and the atmosphere during the whole trip was great.
