Overall the quality of food is barely acceptable The layout of the food is terrible, black cake looks like I passed the process of digestion present to me again; the main dishes looks like the boarder of US and Mexico segregated by the trump wall. However, if taste the food with blindfold, the taste is acceptable. The cake is not too sweet and the strawberry goes with the ice cream. The taste is better when mix the melted ice cream with the cake while chewing the strawberry. I am not the fan of the main dish. It tasted like the frozen food I get from whole food and put it in microwave and presented with dish. The service is good, he fulfills my drink whenever the cup is empty. That’s the only reason I give this restaurant 2 stars.

We hosted a rehearsal dinner at Southern Kitchen and Bar last week, and it went fabulously well. Matthew was so helpful in the weeks leading up to the dinner, accommodating special (vegan) requests and arranging everything just like we wanted. The bartender, chef, and everyone did outstanding work, and the food was excellent. The space worked really well on a windy but nice spring night--private and spacious with great views and lighting. We couldn't have made a better choice.

The next time I visit Birmingham, I will definitely be back to this place. The atmosphere was amazing, the food was great but Malia (I hope I spelled her name correctly), the bartender was phenomenal. Do yourself a favor if you're downtown and pay them a visit, you won't regret it! I apologize for the near empty plate, I didn't think to take a pic until after I began eating. This dish was the lemon chicken.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND to try this spot if you’re anywhere near Downtown Birmingham. One of the best urban social bar and restaurant. They offer a variety of mouth watering dishes, desserts and drinks. Extremely acceptable cleanliness, and they maintain the social distance to comfortably enjoy your meal. Our waiter, Aaron, was vey knowledgeable of the menu and his recommendations were spot on with what I was craving.

The service and food was outstanding! The atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful, as well. There were specific menu choices to pick from that gave good descriptions of menu items. We will definitely be back!

Great Southern food restaurant, good ambience/atmosphere, food was great starting with the Fried Green Tomatoes, followed by the Rustic Salmon, and for dessert a delicious Molten Chocolate Cake. The Bartender took care of me since I eat at the bar, he was nice and friendly as the rest of the staff I interacted with.

Recently visited this establishment while waiting for our bay at Top Golf and was delightfully surprised. The decor is pleasant when entering, and it's very spacious. They have hand sanitizer upon entering the restaurant. The service was amazing, and the food was exceptional (see pics). The only negative! Was when the host took us to our table, he had to wipe it down. After he cleaned the table, it was very wet. This caused our menus to be damp and sitting a little uncomfortable. Other than that it was a wonderful visit.. We will be back very soon. Highly recommend.

I got the Big Easy chicken sandwich. My wife got the Vulcan which is the bacon cheeseburger. Fries were okay. Service was quick and friendly even though they were busy. They were a bit pricey.

Very good fried green tomatoes, the sauce is it own version of perfection. Very fast and friendly service. Wouldn't recommend the sweet tea, it was sour. However in their defense, I'm sure they serve more alcohol than they do sweet tea. So I settled for Sprite and got the lemon pepper and thyme chicken with roasted carrots, potatoes, and turnip greens 🤤❤🥰 it was all phenomenal 😋👌🏽 will definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a cute little atmosphere in Downtown Birmingham 👍🏼

Nice atmosphere! Brunch and Lunch menu had very good options! The chicken and waffles came with tenders not wings FYI! Lots of drink options as well! The grits were phenomenal!

Overall solid pick. I’d say the atmosphere and the service makes up for the food. Seating was comfortable. Live music is always a winner and the service was spot on! Everyone we talked to was kind and helpful. We did have a few complaints about the food though. Spicy Nashville chicken wasn’t really spicy. Chicken and Grits had bacon but the menu didn’t mention it having bacon. And the blue berry cobbler was sub par.

We really enjoyed our meal here. It was our first visit. We All had the burger which was awesome. At the recommendation of our waitress we also shared the cold fried okra appetizer which was incredible. Great food, excellent staff and wonderful environment.

Fried Green Tomatoes were crispy on the outside and the bacon tomato topping added just enough flavor. The Nashville Chicken was flavorful and the more you ate, the spicier it was. The fried whole okra was also a hit. Service and drinks were excellent. The live music waa a welcomed addition.

Visited the restaurant before attending concert at BJCC. It's located about a block, walking distance from BJCC. Great vibes, with live music, and great service. Our servers were very attentive and very nice. We had the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer which was very good, but I did not enjoy the rib eye steak mac n cheese☹️ I am not sure if it was my taste buds or what, but it was salty and the smoked sausage flavor was very strong. The steak was flavorless. To sum it up, we enjoyed the atmosphere and would return only for live music, cocktails, and maybe appetizers.

Came here on a Friday night, and there was live music. There were TVs above the bar area with live NBA game on the night we went. Got 2 sandwiches and they were better than I expected and they looked. We got the fish sandwich and cheese steak sandwich. Service was quick.

The fried okra was absolutely delicious! The bacon wrapped shrimp were also very good! Service was good, especially since they were crowded and we had a large party.

Overall the food was good. A bit overpriced, we got the shrimp for $14 and they only came out with 6 shrimp. I got the Nashville hot chicken and my wife got the lemon thyme chicken.

We enjoyed a very nice dinner. Great place to enjoy some Southern food. Lively sports bar atmosphere, friendly and efficient service. I had salmon with mashed potatoes and carrots. My husband had the Nashville fried chicken. Not many options on the menu for vegetarians or even health-conscious eaters, but then again it's called Southern Kitchen, so what do.you expect 🤣. Everything was very tasty and copious portions. We would eat there again.

There is live music on weekends. Plenty of tvs to catch a sports game. The sweet tea was very light but doable. Plenty of seating and a huge bar area. I had the Nashville hot chicken very good. And the Cole slaw would highly recommend. The mac & cheese was okay.

This place a has a cool, swanky facade but there’s really no substance to their menu. I ordered a Basil Julep, and it came out with no basil. I asked the waiter ‘where’s the basil’ and he said ‘we don’t have any’. It would have been nice to know that before I ordered it. Next, I ordered lemon thyme chicken, and guess what? It had NO THYME. It was basically fried chicken with lemon sauce. There were a couple small flakes of parsley on top, but that’s it. At least change your menu if you can’t live up to it. The lemon thyme chicken was supposedly one of their specialties. Oy vey- I won’t darken their doorstep again.

I ordered something I've never had before and was not disappointed. It was macaroni and Cheese with steak on it. I loved the trimmings along with it. Investing mix of tastes and texture. Staff was great!

Amazing vegetables! They really flavor the veggies well. Well worth the trip for them. The meat is horrible though. I had the country fried steak and the chicken and grits. The fried streak is great tasting, but they don’t cook it properly so it’s chewy. The chicken was so bland. I took a bite out of 3 or the 4 pieces and then didn’t touch it again. The service is good. It’s clean and modern. It’s a good place to visit.

You can't go wrong with steak and eggs and then a Mahi Mahi sandwich with jalapeño honey fries as a side. Our service was great and the food was excellent. This was our first time but we will definitely be back.

Carly is a great waitress! She has a great personality and she's attentive. This restaurant is one of my husband's and I favorite places to eat in Bham. Overall the food is good but I would suggest that the carrots and the chicken on the lemon thyme chicken entree need just a little more flavor.

Visited this establishment w/Family whom are local to the area which wanted to try it out. 10mins after being seated, a leak from there air conditioning Unit above started leaking in which we immediately jumped up and moved. When asking the Bartender on duty as to where to relocate, she annoyingly replied too ask our server as she was too busy having shots w/2 female patrons at the bar. Not only was our waiter not informed of the water leak, the other waiters just wiped off the area and set up the (2) seating areas for new customers. There seemed to be no sense of urgency or concern of the matter reported only to find 2 other leaks nothing far from where we were reseated. Unbelievable!

Had a great experience at Southern Kitchen. It was a group of 15 of us. The restaurant did a great job accommodating us. Our waiter, Buford, was awesome! He gave us the best service ever. The food was great and so was the live music. No complaints.

I thought the food and atmosphere was really good. I love the sweet/spicy mix in all the different kinds of foods. I thought each item was well balanced! We are in town from Chicago, and it was a nice change of pace food wise, to what we are used to.

Great service, bit of a wait but it was worth it! The fried pickles were juicy and perfect, the hangover burger was top notch with all the fixins! And the steak Mac and cheese was killer! Prices were reasonable and the bar service was super quick with out meal. I recommend the Birmingham Belle drink!

This place is very Nice, it seems like its quite, we went for lunch, they have a brunch menu, but you can order off the dinner menu. I had the Chicken and Waffles, it was my first time EVER eating that. It was good, but I think my stomach was confused about it…. 🥴 sweet with meat….🧐🥴🤢 over all if you near the area you should give it a try. One of the guest I was with, notice that the hostess, was on there phone for at least 15minutes, and was not paying attention, when I needed some assistance, she was highly upset about that.

We went prior to the UAB game, we got a table rather quickly even as other restaurants had waits, should've been our first clue. We ended up sitting outside, perfect weather, our server was great, wish I had gotten his name, very friendly young man. The first problem I saw was two menus, game days, they should either have just brunch or a shortened menu, not both. We started with the fried pickles, just enough for an appetizer, present neatly in a mini fry basked, breading was seasoned, easily in the top 3 best fried pickles around town. My wife ordered a fish sandwich with fries from the lunch menu and I ordered a fried chicken biscuit with lunch fries from the breakfast menu, we each had a water, she had a coke and I had a bottled beer. Our server was very quick to offer refills when our food arrived we prayed, and dug in . I quickly noticed my fried chicken biscuit was simply two small kids chicken tenders, the biscuit tasted great, as did the fries, which were well seasoned. My wife enjoyed her sandwich as well. Overall a great experience, the only lacking star was from the tenders, I feel like it should've been a fried chicken breast. The price for fried pickles, a coke , a beer and the two sandwiches was 46 dollars. Rather expensive, the meal was maybe worth 36 bucks. Service made me feel better paying more, with a 25% tip.

It was really busy on a Friday night. They did have live music. Our waitress was wonderful! I ordered the Jefferson with shrimp. It's slightly different from the shrimp and grits. The greens were a little sweet, but good. The portion size was perfect. They have a blueberry cobbler cheesecake, but I was too full. I'll try it when we go back.

We ate there last night. Brooke was our server and she did a great job. Our food was wonderful and we got it really fast. They had live music which we really enjoyed. My first time to get Nashville Hot Chicken. It was good and the mac &cheese was heavenly. Mike said his burger was really good.
