It's
a
shame
to
see
what
was
once
Birminghams
top
rock
pub
by
far,
being
ran
into
the
ground
by
people
who
don't
seem
to
care.
I
think
it
would
be
unreasonable
to
expect
it
to
be
like
it
was
in
the
early
2000s
when
the
place
was
heaving
both
up
stairs
and
downstairs.
The
cost
of
living
definitely
has
an
effect
on
the
amount
of
people
going
out
on
a
regular
basis,
but
it
seems
like
there's
no
pride
or
care
in
the
place
anymore
which
is
a
big
reason
the
place
is
usually
almost
empty
on
a
Saturday
night.
Some
weekends
they
have
a
DJ
who
plays
a
very
limited
selection
of
songs
that
their
friends
like,
but
most
weekends
it's
just
a
juke
box
with
people
putting
on
multiple
songs
of
the
same
band
in
a
row.
You'll
inevitably
get
people
queuing
up
Venga
boys,
Britney
spears
and
the
likes
which
play
in
full,
but
if
you
pay
for
some
really
heavy
stuff
to
play
on
the
juke
box,
the
bar
staff
skip
the
songs
because
apparently
S-club
is
favourable
in
a
rock
and
metal
venue.
Back
in
the
day
Scruffies
was
probably
the
best
metal
venue
in
the
entire
country.
The
place
was
absolutely
legendary!
But
now
its
just
a
shell
of
its
former
self,
barely
living
in
its
own
shadow
and
its
a
disservice
to
the
Birmingham
rock
scene.
