All the staff were friendly, the room was clean and every part of the process of checking in and out and going to breakfast was simple. I accidentally left £190 in cash in the room when I checked out which was found by housekeeper Danni, I received a call from colleague Jordan to tell me I had left it and arrange for me to collect it. I’m so grateful as it would have been so easy for them to keep that and there would be no proof of it being there, they’re integrity has given me faith in humanity and they’re an asset to the business. When staying in Birmingham again I would definitely use this hotel again

Another great Premier Inn. For the money these places can’t be beat. Centrally located. Quiet. Comfortable. Convenient. Clean. And great value. £45 a night for a family of 4. Amazing. If your after a fancy posh stay then go somewhere else but for anyone else it’s well worth a visit.

Great location for trains, Metro and City Centre. Had a perfect night's sleep and excellent breakfast. The staff were courteous and despite it not being like the old Premier Inn affordability in a challenging financial climare we enjoyed our overnight stay.

Room was spotless and quiet, very comfortable bed. There was no remote control in the room and had to wait sometime in reception for staff to ask about this, but after speaking to reception a control was brought to the room in no time. Staff at breakfast very warm and helpful, breakfast good for buffet. Would stay again. Lighting very different,I liked it!

Really disappointing experience - by far the least enjoyable time we’ve had staying in a Premier Inn. The rooms are clean upon your arrival but don’t get cleaned again, none of the coffee/tea gets refilled and if you want any new towels, you’ll be taking them up to your room yourself and leaving the dirty ones randomly in your room or in the corridor for hours. There’s not enough storage space. Although the location is very central and therefore convenient, it is a rough area - prepare to feel unsafe if you’re heading back to the hotel late at night. The hotel has its own bouncer (who was oddly aggressive with us despite us actually staying there). Worst of all though the staff were rude, unfriendly and clearly didn’t care about looking after their customers. I know it’s just a chain hotel, but I thought staff at a premier inn would be better than this. Overall just a bit rubbish - won’t be staying here again.

Fantastic location in the centre, close to many shops. Rooms are very nice, modern and well equipped. The only negative aspect, and that's unfortunately a big issue for those are travelling for business, is the WiFi - practically unable to do anything. I understand there's the chance to pay for the Ultimate however many other hotels don't charge for a good WiFi that is essential and a basic service nowadays, in view also of the room's prices that should be included honestly.

Rooms absolutely perfect. Spotless. We found no dust, cobwebs, marks on the walls or stains on the carpets. All facilities in the room were working perfectly. Staff very welcoming. I can't comment on food here as didn't eat here. Absolutely stunning rooms.

Great Central Hotel. Well done to housekeeping staff rooms spotless, plenty towels, coffee, milk etc. Spoke to a friendly, chatty lady checking the rooms called Laura such a asset to your team. Loved the restaurant.

Great experience. The staff were very kind and welcoming. The room was also very clean and pleasant to sleep in. The location is great for shopping trips and days/nights out, only downside was the amount of beggars in the area.

Good in terms of the usual Premier Inn standards. We paid for a Plus room which included some nice extra touches - pod coffee machine, nice shower gel and the ultimate WiFi - this was shocking! Do not waste your money, it couldn’t handle a zoom call. Sort this out Premier Inn, otherwise people will go elsewhere!

Stayed because of location , which is great ( straight off the train) Good breakfast , with friendly staff. Room was not cleaned properly- absolutely disgusting that we found soiled nappies in the bathroom ( room had an unpleasant odour) we found them the following morning when we had our showers .When we told the lady on the desk she just said "didn't you tell the night manager"......

The location of this place is brilliant. The room was snug but very comfortable, with a soft chaise lounge by the (unopenable) window. Inbuilt air-conditioning which is a necessity. There's a lurid purple light you can switch on that beams up from the headboard which is a funky addition. The mirror beside the door also has an illuminated border. The bathroom was compact but functional and accessible. The shower had an unusually large head but lovely distribution and perfect temperature control. A bizarre situation occured where there were no towels in my room and I had to go to reception to ask for some but that was soon put right by the helpful receptionist. Lovely and enjoyable visit.

Great staff, really friendly and helpful. Great night stay, clean room, clean bathroom, and general toilet facilities. Prime location above New Street station and in the city centre, close to major office buildings and next to the bull ring centre. Everything is within walking distance, restaurants, food stores, clothing shops, pharmacies, banks etc, Warning, there is no parking on site and the hotel is in a pedestrian zone. Recommend parking at the Grand Central car park next to New Street station, £15 per day. Would avoid NCP car park, it's ridiculously expensive and dodgy looking!!

Pretty standard amenities for a chain hotel, everything was just fine or close enough to how it should be. The windows cannot be opened to get fresh air inside. Breakfast meets the standards for locals I think, but in my opinion it was low quality and it lacked vegetables, cheeses, cold cut meat. Location is both good and bad, close to the main railway station which comes with it's disadvantages (all kinds of people roaming around). Staff was very polite and helpful.

Central hotel for trains and shops. Happy with the hotel and staff and service. Small problem with toilet was fixed very quickly. Did not use any food service. Hotel is very convenient for city centre and transport links. The beggars, drunks and drug users near the entrance are a bit off putting, though no problems encountered, and security was on duty on one occasion. Police and council need to be doing more, as not really something the hotel can control. We used the Premier rooms on top floor, so it was quiet and secure with lift pass required. Room refresh needs to be requested at reception for stays of more that 1 night, and this was satisfactorily carried out. Wi-Fi codes are provided for each day but turned out you still have to do all that registering nonsense, so did not use.

The room was very very cold, the air con would not warm it up. There was no iron and board in the room. The room was clean and modern, well presented and had all other necessities. The bathroom was modern and clean with a great shower. Hot breakfast looked alright, however I wanted some croissants and pastries which were not available and was asked to wait at least 10 mins, which I couldn't due to work commitments.

Great location next to shops and trains, easy check in. Occasion corporate issues eg short staffed. Lift broken on my last visit, but otherwise a reliable, quiet and clean business hotel. Food mostly passable.

Worst premiere Inn I've ever stayed in, only one lift working and was quicker to use the stairs. Breakfast was a farce with a 25 minute wait before being seated, and the breakfast was disappointing! The room was noisy with the constant hum from an industrial sized extractor outside the window! The night manager was more interested in entertaining himself than overseeing the hotel. The rest of the staff did themselves proud under the circumstances! Good Central location close to the train station and right on the high street

The room was clean and comfortable but many of the rooms are positioned directly across from the lifts - terrible design! My sleep was disturbed by hearing the lift bell go throughout the night. Not recommended and quite expensive for what it is.

Not bad! Stayed here for two nights and it was very convenient due to its location. The hotel is okay, room was clean and everything was working fine. My room didn't have a window that could be opened, but the air flow was enough with the vents.

This hotel is a very mixed bag. On a scale of 1-10 (10 is best) Location - 10 Service - 4 (way understaffed) Internet 1 (including the paid ultimate option. Unfortunately there is quite a bit of loitering due to the location near station, but the hotel doesn't seem to mind how poorly it reflects on them by allowing hoards of smokers to block the entry . We wouldn't stay in this hotel again despite the great location.

We haven’t actually stayed yet (!) but I wanted to share our experience so far. We went into the hotel this week to ask to see room choices - we’ve booked a Premier Plus room for my birthday tomorrow night and wanted a nice quiet room at end of corridor. No one was on reception at first so we rang bell and a maintenance guy, Tony, appeared. In spite of him not being front of house he was so lovely and helped us hugely, even taking me to view a couple of rooms to choose which we preferred. He was incredibly patient and polite, and was a great first impression. He then referred me to the front desk guy, Jordan, to pre book my chosen room - and Jordan was just as lovely! He was very helpful and sorted our room and gave other great advice re parking etc. Two very good team members for the Premier Inn brand - thank you so much! We can’t wait to visit tomorrow for a lovely night and meal at The Ivy (very nearby, the hotel is in a great location). Thank you!

Excellent friendly staff. Nice room with decent bathroom. Ultimate WI-FI is no good. Had a bit of mold in the shower. Steak was good at dinner. Bruschetta was a bit chewy. Breakfast was not bad except the coffee machine was not working. Will give it another go sometime.

  • 2/5 Chris L. 1 year ago on Google
The room smelled awful and this was a Premier Plus room. Not that any room should stink!. No normal tea bags in the room. The hotel generally was grubby with a broken button in the lift held together with sellotape. Have stayed in a good few Premier Inns and this was easily the worst.

The sixth-floor room we stayed in for four nights was impeccable. It was clean, modern, and there was no disturbance from neighbouring rooms. The staff at the hotel were warm and welcoming. The only downside was the slow free WiFi, which might be inconvenient for foreign tourists. Nevertheless, I would still highly recommend this hotel in the bustling city centre of Birmingham.

Great location, room was clean but the walls are paper thin, can hear neighbors in the room beside, talk, cough and listen to their phone as if they were in my room - my room was also right by the lift so could hear people coming and going all night. Staff were nice, warm and welcoming though and the room was a fair price for the location. Just wish it was a bit more sound proof!

Typical premier inn, clean and tidy. Even though it was in the heart of the city you could not here any noise from outside. Breakfast was good, lots of staff around. Only problem was the room keys didn't work from the machine at reception.

A very good stay, the room was great, very clean and modern with good facilities. Took advantage of the £25 meal deal for a two course evening meal with drink followed by all you can eat breakfast the following morning. The only thing which I found disappointing was a firefoor had been propped open by a cleaning cloth. On reporting this I was told that this door was broken, so apparently this may be how it's kept open? Not the best of safety measures I would say. Overall a really good stay.

Once again a great stay at a Premier Inn in what has to be the best location in Central Birmingham. Super modern room, really nice toilet, bath & shower. All spotlessly clean. At just £53 for a twin room for the night, it's superb value. As for local facilities you've got two great old pubs, The Shakespeare and the Trocadero, literally less than 5 minutes walk away. Although there are loads of eating places within Grand Central I'd recommend a short walk to the Indian Streatery, a fantastic new style Indian restaurant.

Got the price - if you book early - a really great hotel. It’s the good standard you expect from Premium Inn. Very clean room, clean shower. The only negative was the check in. There was a massive que at 3.30pm on the Sunday. The automatic check ins are rubbish - it needed 2 staff to help operate them.

I recently stayed here for 3 nights, and had a very pleasant stay. The chap who looked after the guests at breakfast was outstanding, very friendly, remembered me every time I was there, and couldn't do enough for everyone. I also ate in the restaurant, excellent food!

Great location for new street station and restaurants etc. Don't let the underwhelming entrance & people sleeping outside (this happens in all big cities!) put you off, the hotel staff were all lovely, hotel clean, rooms modern and comfy and good breakfast. Love that you always get a good standard with premier, much better than the 4star Hilton we stayed at the night after!!

Let's start with positives ... Great location for both Birmingham centre but also if you are at an event at the NEC. Decent sized rooms, good shower and bath, working lifts. Snack machines, umbrella hire, good breakfast options. Daytime and evening staff always helpful. And the beds are always comfortable! Not good .. constantly being harassed by vagrants every time you enter or leave the hotel. Not being able to prepay when you book multiple rooms, meaning very slow check in process. Finally, attitude of nightshift staff as exemplified by night shift manager. You sit in the bar during the evening enjoying drinks served by polite, friendly staff. Then the shift changes and the night manager is miserable and everything is too much hassle for her. Same as last time, same person, same attitude problems. Overall, still recommend this place as positives outweigh negatives.

Room was lovely and clean however when we were getting ready to go out playing music on my phone at a reasonable volume got a knock on the door telling us to keep the music down which I turned off and I was polite. The staff were rude came to check the room and when I spoke to her asking if there’s any other problems I got told to shush with her hand in my face multiple times. No problems other than rude staff!

Excellent stay. Perfect location in the centre of Birmingham with a comfortable room. What made the stay perfect was the staff though. Despite being very busy with a really difficult crowd in one evening, the staff were happy, friendly and helpful. They maintained a professional approach despite horrible people in the hotel and made sure we had everything we needed. 5 stars for the best hotel staff ever.

  • 5/5 Siobhan D. 2 years ago on Google
Had no issue with this hotel at all! Rooms were nice and big, bathroom was clean and smelt fresh! It was in a perfect location! Only issues we had was we couldn't stay an extra night due to the storm as it was fully booked! And the TV doesn't have screen mirroring meaning you can hook your phone up to it and watch whatever you want, but even then not a big issue. Was still an amazing stay would definately come back!

Stayed at this Hotel last Friday night into Saturday evening with my grandson. Excellent Customer Service on Check-in by a very friendly and cheerful young lad between 6 and 7pm. It has a great location for Shops and the room on arrival was Spotless . Will definitely return to this Hotel at a later date. Thank You also to the Romanian lady who sorted out a pizza and chips for my Grandson and the Asian girl and man with pony tail in restaurant on Saturday morning who were very attentive during breakfast. Thank You 😊
