Visited the square peg for the first time today after a trip to Birmingham with my family. I was really impressed with the friendly staff and good food, good value for money and quick service. Great little stop off for "dinner and drinks" if your out for the day at Brum. Highly recommended!

Nice and polite staff. Lovely food however I’ve noticed a price difference in different Wetherspoons, should always be the same price.

It's impossible to talk about Birmingham's traditional pubs without mentioning the Square Peg, a true Brummie classic where you meet all types of people from all different social levels. We arrived for a quick visit to Birmingham on Saturday morning, hungry, we chose the Square Peg for breakfast, it was completely packed, we ordered via the app and the food arrived quickly and hot at our table. For those who don't know it yet, it's worth immersing yourself in Birmingham's culture by having a drink and enjoying delicious dishes in the purest English style.

Like other Wetherspoon bar and restaurant, many different choices of food and drink. Most important is reasonable price, especially providing an afternoon tea deal for Monday to Friday although today is Good Friday, bank holiday.

Decent breakfast. Great value. Would have been 4* but there was no brown sauce and the coffee machine was out of coffee. Given number of servings today, this is understandable but it did detract from my experience.

If you've been in a Whetherspoons, you've been in them all. It's quite long, with a long bar, but fairly narrow. The decor does make it look a bit dark which is quite a feat considering it's all windows down the long side. Service is a bit slow so I'd recommend using the app for table service.

I went here with my girlfriend and her son and our orders was wrong. We had chips that was black, a hard burger bun, a steak that was meant to be well done but wasn't it was medium as it was still red in the middle. Then too top it off they sent the puddings that we asked for. I would recommend it if you want food that you didn't order otherwise go somewhere else to get food that you ordered. Walsall is better and the ain't the best either.

Mega pub! It's the only way to describe this place. Huge and very busy, but well managed. Plenty of staff available to attend to bar patrons as well seated customers that wanted food. I ordered a jacket spud (because healthy...) and my beer colleagues had a chicken burger and a pizza. All were ordered using the Wetherspoons app and all meals were brought to us pretty quick (considering how busy it was on a Saturday afternoon). Delicious too. Top marks to Wetherspoons on this venue. Great service all round.👌🏼

We ate here twice recently while in Birmingham, food was very quick, hot and fresh only slight let down were old onion rings on the 1st visit. Second time they were fresh. Overall really enjoyed it. It does attract some odd types, more so than a normal spoons I guess because of location.

Went here 3 weeks ago for lunch after looking round the Xmas markets. It was absolutely rammed with no spare table or chairs in site. The staff were extremely friendly despite evidently working under pressure. The food was an hour wait but we were informed before ordering and it was worth it. Would go back here when next in Birmingham

Got there Saturday lunchtime expected busy but it was chaotic!! Couldn’t get to the bar for piles of glasses so sat and ordered on the app once we finally found a table. One table of four was occupied with one guy sleeping, staff not bothered. Ordered food and drinks on the app. The drinks came after 30 minutes the food after 50 minutes and was cold. Didn’t send it back because we didn’t have time to wait a few more hours. Understaffed is an understatement!!!!! Won’t be back

Ordered whilst at the table, food came but no drink, was told by waitress I'll have to go and get it myself from the bar, great, so I'm supposed to leave my food unattended( I was on my own). Who makes all these rules. As for atmosphere all I could hear was chavs laughing loud. Some atmosphere.

Food was OK, staff were friendly and it seems like a very popular place as it was busy when we arrived. However, there were so many dirty tables and service was a bit slow. I've been to better Spoons establishments.

Been going for breakfast at every JD Wetherspoon around the country whenever I have the chance to try a new one, usually breakfast always good and best deal, and usually pretty chilled experiences in the mornings. However, this was my least favourite JD Wetherspoon. It was very challenging to get a coffee, machine not working, asked for help, staff too busy, found another machine in the end of the room, also not working, other customers also frustrated trying to get a coffee, it took so long, that by the time I got back to table that I chose and gave the table number when I did my breakfast order, my table was taken by someone else. It was way too complicated to get a coffee, too much to chase around before having a coffee.

Very busy pub, and I'm lucky to have found a seat. Recently updated. Had chicken strips, which were nice and crispy. There were not many chips. Had a refillable coffee, which you serve yourself. Had a latte, and it was not very nice. Very strong and bitter, I think the machine needs checking.

We visited yesterday for a bite to eat and warm from the weather, it's a whetherspoons so you know what you're getting food and drink wise, reasonable quality and good prices. The place was packed to heaving with people waiting for tables, mostly families and shoppers, although there being a match on we saw only a few football fans. Despite how busy it was the food was out in fairly good time and we never had to wait long for drinks either at the bar or table service. We only noticed one doorman (who had his badge reversed in its sleeve, I've seen this done before elsewhere when it's been out of date) despite having two entrances. Unlike the majority of whetherspoons I've visited there's no stairs to access the toilets, the "accessible"/ baby changing toilet required a radar key with a notice to ask at bar if you don't have one. Saw bar-staff open up several times, with no-one needing to wait long. Great pub and atmosphere, definitely recommend.

They had a handful of different ales on the tap. I didn't have to wait long before I got served. The staff's customer service skills were fantastic. I will visit this venue again next time I'm in Birmingham

Went here for drinks with friends in the evening. Rather full and boisterous but it's a rather large and longe location so there were plenty of tables to sit. My friends enjoyed chilled Chardonnay and ciders. I was happy to just have a nice shot of pink lemonade vodka. Would maybe like to come here again for some bites but it's a good place to grab a drink at affordable prices.

Came here before catching a train. Just the same as any Wetherspoons- a nice, quick and easy meal with decent service. Would come again when in the area. Very very busy.

This place is always busy! But the staff are used to it and handle it just fine, food comes out in a timely manner. I find it easier to order on the app than wait at the bar as they have a dedicated person doing them so you can skip the queues at the bar if you do

Your usual Wetherspoons similar prices and menu's to all the others friendly staff. The downside is it's so big and so busy so you have to wait quite a while to get served.

  • 5/5 Bonnie C. 1 year ago on Google
Really massive pub, so it was great to use the app to order and have the food and drinks brought to us. Considering there were only a few empty tables the food & drink arrived quickly. Good value for money and a good location in relation to the bus stops!

Great food, great service, great prices. £36 for four meals and 2 rounds of drinks. Two adults and two kids can be expensive when eating out. The quality of food for the price was outstanding. I'd recommend a visit if you need a break from shopping. Well done The Square Peg

Had an afternoon shopping at The Bullring shopping centre and looked for somewhere to eat that would cater for 3 different tastes. The square peg is Wetherspoons, so we already knew it would be reasonable prices. A couple of small errors such as forgot to bring the pepper sauce and also added peas when requested without peas. Very quickly rectified. Staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Nice atmosphere bar and restaurant
