Jimmy Spices isn’t the easiest to find due to poor labelling around the place but presumably this is a work in progress. We went at lunchtime, being seated in the corner by the window and had to ask someone to clean the table, which basically set the tone for the rest of the meal. Aesthetically the place has been done up tastefully and is very pleasing to the eye. Though with the cleanliness of the tables when it wasnj’t even that busy, I worry about the dust with all the ‘greenery’ hanging from the ceilings over the tables. The options at lunchtime are VERY limited...the only live station was the stir fry which they don’t make very clear in their advertising. We expected a lesser menu at lunchtime due to the price difference but not to this extent for the actual price being paid. The starter and mains options are also OVERLY limited - for example out of the Americas section, all there was is the chilli con carne with taco shells and two types of nachos with various salads! There were most of the Indian starters & curries advertised on the website, but none of the Indian desserts. My onion bhaji was unfortunately still raw in the middle and I had to waste it. My partner didn’t go back for seconds from the curry section which was very unusual being a curry lover! From the European section, out of that on the website, there was only a Margherita pizza and a ‘meat pizza’ (my piece didn’t have any sign of any meat in or on it). There were also some (processed) chicken nuggets and chips. There were a few puddings from the list (the trifle was tinned fruit topped with cream). Chinese starters were prawn crackers, spring rolls and sweet chilli wings (the wings of which were delicious!). There were a few mains and none of the desserts listed apart from ice cream (lots of flavours, all unlabelled so you’ve got to be feeling adventurous if unsure!). Service - I’ve mentioned the dirty table already. Our drinks came during our second plate of starters. One thing I detested is the fact the servers place the dirty plates collected from other tables on your table before taking your plates, whilst you’re eating. On one of the occasions I actually thought someone else’s waste was going to fall on to my plate! Given they weren’t even busy, to leave dirty plates while you were off selecting more food which you are then left eating next to seems a little complacent. I asked which of the desserts were halal and they helpfully came to point out the three desserts. When I spotted another two puddings I wanted to try, due to the texture I thought I’d double check with them again and I’m glad I did as they weren’t halal either but they’d missed them initially! All in all, the quality of food was nothing to write home about - at lunchtime anyway. Unless the dinnertime buffet is a world of difference to the lunchtime buffet, I couldn’t recommend this place but certainly based on my experience I’m in no hurry to go back. Service charge is 10% which was most certainly not earned but as it was only £2 we couldn’t bother with disputing it. We ate at Jimmy’s first in 2004 and are quite disappointed with this wholly underwhelming experience.

We have been visiting Jimmy's for years. Spent many dates here with my other half. We were one of the last standing in the restaurant as it closed for lockdown.... and last night was our first night back. New venue, new choices and new prices. We were soo excited to be back, and with our new baby addition who is weaning, so he could explore some of the amazing dishes. New venue is lovely, vibrant, fresh and still spacious. Really good to be able to see all of the kitchen space, and the chefs working as hard as ever. Waiting staff are really attentive, constantly nearby, with tables cleared promptly. Lots of the waitresses were super friendly with our son (and regularly grabbed the broom to sweep under his chair- sorry!) Choices seem slightly less, but still loads of choice. It's very centred around tepenyaki and the grill, and both are brilliant. My ONLY improvement is BRING BACK GROUPON!!! We certainly can't afford to attend regularly now at full price, but totally recommend and love this place.

With a Jimmy Spices hankering my husband and I booked our table online. We took advantage of a 25% off voucher advertised on the website. We arrived, we were unaware it had moved location so we called and we were given clear directions. I assume as this restaurant is new the location confusion will iron out over time. The entrance is a little underwhelming at first. We were greated with a smile by a lady. Once we took the lift up we were pleasantly surprised. Did not expect the venue to be highly decorated. Its beautiful! We were seated at our table, and were asked if we had visited the new restaurant before. They explained how the buffet works and the choices available. We ordered cocktails on our visit, which were pleasant. They offer a deal 4 for the price of 2 which we later found out in the evening. Missed opportunity to maybe adverse on the menu or a promotions board. To the food: they offer a grill/stir fry station where there are many meats available per person. My husband really loved his tuna steak. There was a large selection of Indian cuisine this multiple curry's on offer. They have a Mexican and salad bar station available (loved the couscous). There was pizza but didn't get to try this on this occasion but the chefs were preparing the pizzas and they looked very fresh. They had a Chinese section with a few offerings. Great section of deserts and fruits. The venue is smaller than the last but I personally think this is much better as the space flows better. The food option are more limited however i just think all the best dishes are just on one table to speak. The other restaurant had far too many dishes on the floor for limited traffic of customers. I imagine this way it reduces food wastage as well as being much easier to manage. Overall, we thought the mixed grilled vegetables, chilli panner, chicken curry and steaks were the best. All the facilities were clean, tidy and organized. Service with great all staff were attentive and friendly. The manager appeared present on the floor, it was well managed. I will definitely be returning with friends and family. Actually love the fact they have a bar area for aperitifs and then late tea and coffee.

The return of Jimmy Spices back to Birmingham in a new more vibrant and cosier atmosphere. It has changed and the quality is as good now as ever. Food is obviously fresh but smaller in restaurant size now then before so less of a selection but saying that it's probably the best international cuisine buffet in Brum, lovely friendly staff too. Will go back.

Jimmy's, this was opened in the new location in Oct 2021, I must say this is a lot better than the previous one. The food is good (than any other usual buffet), lots of non veg options, less for veg. They have live counters for noodles, Dosa, naan and grill for fish, meat and Paneer. Naan was the best one I had ever in UK. Most of the items in the menu are Indian. The staff were friendly and the place was very clean. It was crowded when I visited on a Friday evening. Taste 4/5 Staff 5/5 Cleanliness 4/5 Value for money 4/5 Ambience 4/5

Had a dinner with family and friends for my birthday. It was an awesome experience. Best Buffet restaurant i have been too and every meal i had tasted delicious. Staff were nice and environment clean. They clear off the table as soon as you are done with a meal and don't let the table stack up with used plaits. I also enjoyed the watermelon and sugar cocktail. Had the first glass for free as it was my birthday and also you get one glass for free wheb you order a glass of cocktail. Overall, it was an awesome experience

The chefs and service staffs provided excellent service, the cocktails and mocktails they offered were outstanding. However, some of the dishes fell short of expectations. However, the gulam jamun, masala dosa, wings, beef in black bean sauce, and pistachio kulfi ice cream were some of my favourites. A decent atmosphere, value for money💯, and I'll go back💯.

Wear some waterproof socks and fill your boots. Their Lamb Rogan Josh is one of the best that I have ever tasted. Fresh naan breads are a winner too. Food selection was limited, ice cream machine was broken (no my daughter's disappoint) but I would definitely go back for some more of that sexy Rogan Josh 😋

I was very confused while choosing restaurant. Even at last minute I had second thought but I have no regrets dining in jimmy. Food, staff, atmosphere everything was perfect. It's great place for people who likes Indian food. I was very happy as it was my first dining in UK. It's 25£ per person on Sunday. So if you want to save some money go on Monday and Tuesday as the price is £14.

Jimmy spices have come back with some positive improvements. Although the restaurant is smaller than before, its decor and seating plan is quite decent. There isn't like 100s of various food options; but the buffet on display was very nice. Food/dishes were repeatedly toped up and freshly made. Decent selection of food choices. I enjoyed the live cooking of stir fry. It's £20 a head, which is good. Not too expensive for Broad Street prices.

Today i had a pleasant evening dining at the best buffet in the West Midlands. Absolutely loved the tacos, such a cool idea! also had a blast trying some new foods I haven’t tried before. The staff were really kind and friendly and very playful and kind to my toddler which I appreciated. Fair price and well worth it. Definitely will be visiting again! 10/10 service, lovely food and great hospitality!

heard a lot about this place but was disappointed with the food quality and taste .Noodles tasted burnt and too salty even the indian food wasn’t upto mark .The only good items in desserts were gulab jaman and ice cream. The baby changing station is a nightmare.I wish I could have avoided using that.

Mains were nice, particularly lamb chops cooked to order. Deserts disappointing. Although not a massive selection overall was good value for money. However covid measures are poor. No requirement for masks or gloves at the buffet. Everyone touching the same spoons and we saw a woman coughing her guts up over the food. Given the stringent measures other buffets are taking or even not opening eg in Vegas, this is unacceptable and action should be taken by the council

This was the best World Buffet I've had for years. We went on a Sunday at around 6.30 and the place quite full. All the stations were well stocked and replenished regularly. It had good balance of Indian, Chinese and European food. I rarely eat the carvery roasts in buffets because they are usually dry. The ones here were all succulent and the meat cuts were good. The grill was great, the Indian food outstanding. My wife is a vegetarian and there was plenty for her, she loved the stir fry section. Definitely coming back.

A pleasant surprise and an amazing experience. Not a big fan of Indian cuisine but the chicken wings and burgers had me smitten. The desserts are good. Pani puri, idli, dosa... Will have the southern Indian cuisine fans salivating.

Highly recommended. I was very impressed with all the options available from Indian to mexican and Chinese food. The pudding selection is very good as well. I was seated very quickly as the restaurant wasn't very busy at this time which was good for me. I managed to sample a good variety of food all from the all you can eat buffet. All for one person was under 30 quid with 2 large pepsi included. Good value for money definitely.

First time in Jimmy's Birmingham and the food choice was there but the taste was mediocre. The initial greetings were also not warm or hospitable at all. Some of the non veg items had less meat and more curry. The cauliflower was tasty. The one thing which was good was the lamb chops which were freshly made. The guy behind the grill was great as well. Not a great experience.

Pretty great place, food were freshly made every 30 minutes. Very tasty compare of others buffe restaurant out there. Counter is clean , many choice to choose from …too many choice to choose from!. There’s not much to be said to be honest other then it’s awesome ! And the price are 21.99 per person on Saturday night. Book your table ! It is alittle busy there . Bare in mind that this restaurant are on the second floor. You need to take the lift up to get to it . Just follow the sign.

Good service and well behaved staff. All starters are great Dosa and chutney are good Drinks also good Garlic naan and main course items are good I did not like rice items as they are undercooked. Worth for the money spent. Didn’t get chance to try chocolate fountain and live fish fry…

Lunch menu ok for £13 . Staff service execllent and warming Go for the grilled fish takes 10mins beautiful spicy I had it with peppers. Beef stir fry not the best but the sweet n sour chicken makes up for that disappoint 😊. Veg spring rolls better then most Chinese places, and the beef pepperoni pizzas and plain cheese one delicious. BBQ chicken wings nice but alil tuff. Steamed fish with veg not nice too bland. Grilled chicken strips could off been seasoned better

Due to covid they've changed the dining rules and I wouldn't call it a buffet like it used to be, you have to keep ordering and waiting, kids got impatient and overall wasn't a nice experience. The menu has been limited too.

This place is my favored. I eat in plenty of restaurants but here I keep coming back again and again. The crew is very chummy and the cooking they serve is so good. I never miss an opportunity to have a nice dinner in this place. I highly recommend this place.

  • 5/5 Markus O. 3 years ago on Google
During the current situation I was thinking that an all you can eat buffet isn't worth the effort but to my surprise Jimmy's was quite a pleasant experience. The food was amazing for an all you can eat buffet and even though it's table service, it didn't stop the food from flowing on to the table. There's also a student offer for 8.99, including the buffet and a soft drink so definitely a place to go!

AVOID at All Cost 1. Food was stale and cold 2. MIXED FISH, STEAK AND CHICKEN IN One PLATE. And called it the Grill Mix. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE. 3. Most staff were moody and didn't want to help at all. 4. OVER PRICED for the service they provided. 5. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I would give this place 0 stars if it was possible. Will not be returning.

Well after not coming for a number of years thought I'd give it a shot. Wasn't happy about the food on my last visit but that said this time round the food wasn't bad all. The starters could do with some improvement in terms of heat. From the counter to the table the chicken wings weren't hot. That's 3 different variations. Other starters were in the same boat not hot at all. I went into the area where the chef will cook your food. I opted to have the masala fish... Lovely flavour and cooked just right. Had a mixture of mains all of which was much better. Hear and flavour. Not too spicy and not too mild either. Staff were friendly enough and price was reasonable. Would I go back again? Yup but not in a rush

Had a great evening at Jimmy Spices. Even though you can’t help yourself at the buffet any more the staff are really helpful in bringing everything you want. Food was fresh and hot and we really enjoyed everything we had . Special thanks to our waitress Parita who was really good :)

A great place for an all you can eat buffet. Foods from all over the world which taste really nice. Service is good and staff are friendly. Lunch serves 60% of food whereas dinner is 100% of what is available just to make you aware

I’ve been going to Jimmy Spices in Birmingham for almost 15 years now. It has changed through the years but overall it has maintained a good variety of dishes, including Indian, Chinese, Italian & Mexican. The quality of the food is good. This place is suitable for vegetarians. There is a huge selection of drinks, including cocktails. We had a jug of the pina colada during our last visit & we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is an all you can eat buffet so you can be sure that you’ll leave with a full stomach. It is good value for money. The waiters are friendly and polite. You do not usually need a reservation as the seating capacity is pretty big. This place is ideal for birthday parties. It is also child-friendly.

I attended the restaurant with my friend yesterday. We arrived with 4 minutes to spare before the 241 cocktail deal ended so we ordered 8 cocktails in total. One of the cocktails was incorrect so we sent it back but a replacement cocktail never arrived. We ordered our food and advised the waiter that the noodles needed to be mushroom free as my friend is allergic and if she eats a mushroom she will be hospitalised. The 1st round of food arrived and before we could even finish a plate it was swiped away quicker than a seagull after chips at the beach! The next round of food arrived, which contained the noodle dishes. My friend went to tuck into her noodles and spotted a mushroom hiding, I called the Waiter over & explained the issue who just nodded and took the plate away. No apology or anything was made. We asked for the bill, and upon checking we noticed we had been charged for the cocktail that you had taken away at the start of the night, we also pointed out that the issue with had with the mushroom incident. The waiter said he would give us one free cocktail and  a glass of water for my friend to rectify the discrepancies with our bill. This was unsatisfactory, therefore you removed the cocktail we didn't have from our bill. You had then cheekily added a £3 service charge - which wouldn't normally be an issue, however with all of the above in mind. No tip was being given. Before we exited the premises we used the bathroom facilities, where we witnessed a female staff member attend the toilet, pick a spot on her forehead AND not wash her hands, and all this happened whilst she was wearing her gloves! She then proceeded to head back downstairs and serve food from the hot counters. We brought this issue to the attention of a so called Manager, who was taking note of everything we had said, bearing in mind we are in a global pandemic, the "Manager" was wearing a facial mask UNDERNEATH his nose... Alot of the Staff were also doing this. Much to our disgust we will not be returning here! We do not feel that what you done to compensate us was satisfactory enough, and the whole incident in the toilet is another matter on its own. That is a major breach of Health and Safety in which running a restaurant and serving food your staff should have known better, however they are clearly uneducated and need some serious training on these unprecedented times.

Appallingly slow and very poor service, not one staff member asked if the food was okay, if we were happy, would we like another drink, would we like more food, the food was just stone cold, end of, the only slightly warmer food was the chicken wings, the Lamb Lasagne especially made my stomach upset because it was so cold. As was the Meat Feast Pizza although why that was spicy too, when it didn't say so on the order slip, I don't know, it was simply inedible, my son's piece since the portion served wouldn't constitute as a decent sized whole slice, let alone one cut in half as was attempted, his portion such as it was, was clearly burnt. The Butter Chicken, too cold too, and over added to with cream I believe making it colder still unnecessary addition. This is food that's supposed to be prepared and served in front of You. My son and I had a perfect vantage table, yet despite being front and centre directly in front of the bar therefore in staff eyeline at all times. It took an hour and a half for our meal to be served in it's poor entirety consumed and unfortunately paid for. I've been twice since they've reopened after the lockdown and it's not a pleasant experience. I only tried a second time to give them the benefit of the doubt, but no they insist on playing not only Pop Songs but different cover artists singing the songs, and it's so loud that as a Hard of Hearing customer I had not only problems hearing the staff but communicating with my son. The Onion Rings weren't even warm nor the Chicken Tikka bite portions. The dessert slip states clearly a selection of fresh cream cakes. What a lie ! We had one miniscule piece each of a single cake only and two paltry sized scoops of strawberry and chocolate ice creams. Save Your Hearing Patience Stomach from Upset and Your Money. Steer clear. The service is terrible. The food was hotter and better quality by far therefore clearly more enjoyable when One could use the Buffet and help Oneself. One now feels victimised at their mercy to keep You waiting for ages for service and then they serve cold dishes.

Unpleasant experience. The help yourself buffet no longer exists due to ongoing covid19 situation and instead you are given a sheet of paper for starter main noodles and dessert. You can mark your selection and it’s delivered to your table. It is mentioned that you can choose up to 3 options from each sheet and we thought up to three for each person but the waiter advice up to three per person but not more than 5 per table. That was unpleasant as we were 4 people and we had to pick no more than one for each. The other issue was the long waiting time between courses which make it tricky to vacate the table withing two hours and had to cancel the Deseret.

Nice Food and great staff. Though due to covid we had to tick from a menu what we wanted and when the food was brought over felt like there could've been more on a plate than 2 little pieces of chicken each. (Though I get it is a Buffet and we can just get more after that it was annoying that portions came so little)

We visited after the lockdown, we weren't advised that they don't run as a buffet anymore. Basically, you order at the table from a very limited menu. I felt a little awkward because it's different when you grab the stuff yourself and get as much as you like and not a full portion. The place was nearly empty aswell.. Will return when it runs as a buffet again...

Visited on Saturday evening. Food was generally good. Fish Pakora was amazing. We didn't order much as we just eat what we fancy. Dissapointed that a service charge sneekily added onto bill. Generally we leave £5 to £10 but in this case left Zero due to the underhanded way it was done.

The entrance is so hidden away you’d think you’re trying to find Narnia. The happy hour discount doesn’t leave you happy at all because if you don’t finish WITHIN the set time, you have to pay normal price and they don’t tell you that until the end of the meal, which they don’t clarify. Food was basically expensive chewing gum. Chicken meals don’t taste authentic, the sweet and sour, bland and sour Dessert menu very basic, “assorted fruits” is just melon and pineapple (not even a lot of pineapple)
