Amazing place. You can easily spend hours there. However. Carpark is awful. It has space for about fifteen cars. Then you have to park near people's houses. Also they have routes you can follow. However I couldn't find a map letting me know which route to follow. So needs some admin done and it would be great. But the reserve it's self is absolutely great.

Came across Saltwells Nature Reserve while looking for walking trails. The history behind this place is interesting and definitely worth a visit

Local nature reserve, hilly in parts but plenty of flat paths. Good views of Dalton clay pits and many semi-hidden sculptures to find.

Great place for a visit with some interesting facts and local knowledge about the area and its uses in the past. Existing Coal lines (Veins) are visible in the quarry walls when viewed from the one viewing platform. Also.. It has an interesting piece of woodland with sculptures made locally dotted around the trails.

First visit. Great woods, well signed, surprising open spaces and intriguing choice of paths. Needs a little attention to litter. Will take my grab stick next time. Well done dog owners for an absence of your passing.

Such a lovely place to visit, both my husband and I are disabled so we couldn't go very far but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! So many different types of trees it's beautiful. When we finished walking we walked through a little ally and came to a wonderful pub, it's so clean with an amazing garden with a little playground for the children. The saltwell pub I think it was called

Absolutely beautiful place. Had loads of fun without the dogs. (Nice break from our life lol) but definitely somewhere we will take dogs in future. Loved the sculptures and the tracks that went off in different directions. Wasn't as big as we expected it to be but not sure if we were missing something? We were there just two hours and had looped part twice of it and gone across a road into somewhere else.

It has the potential to be lovely. But it was absolutely filthy, litter EVERYWHERE! Honestly I've never been to a park or nature reserve with so much litter. The hilly ground makes for good bikes routes, but there were inconsiderate "young adults" driving around on mini motorbike scramblers. A family and their children had to go single file on a footpath to move out of the way of one. Parking was a haphazard affair as the carpark was full so lots of people had parked on the street, which must be really frustrating for the people who live on that road. Some positives: There's a nice big pond/lake to walk around with different types of ducks and birds. Highlight for me was the variety of mushrooms to hunt for.

Fabulous day out woodland walking, seeking hidden sculptures , walking the wonderful clay pit wetlands. Nice paths suitable for pushchairs and mobility aids with off the path tracks for walking adventures, steps for those who want a more challenging walk. You will need many visits to explore this absolutely beautiful place. Stand at sundown and listen to the calls to roost by the resident murder of crows, visit at sunrise on a frozen winter morning such wonderful sights and sounds of nature await you. A word of advice on parking please be aware that the pub near by will fine you for parking there if you do not put your car reg in. There are many entrances with free parking around the site so it is well worth doing a little research before you visit.

Absolutely loved visiting here. So interesting, so beautiful so tranquil. A real insight into history, both prehistoric and Black Country 19th century

Lovely walk, signage of walks could be a bit better as some were missing. Bluebells beautiful and plentiful!

Small car park, but plenty of ways to access the walks. No toilets or cafe on the nature reserve bur you do have the pub by the Car Park and Merry Hill Shopping Centre is only a stones throw away. Bluebells are fantastic this time of year. It's great how quiet and peaceful it can be.

Great place for family walks. The sculpture walk is fab for kids, lots of benches. Great for dog walking, you can walk dogs off lead. Fairly flat and easy underfoot on main paths. Free parking. Bins on car park not inside reserve itself. The building on site is a great resource and they often run activities for both kids and adults. We attended a home ed session there weekly.

A large area to walk around, collect your thoughts and connect with nature. An important part of the Black Country Geopark trail. You wouldn't believe that parts of it are only 5 minutes drive from Merry Hill shopping centre.

A nice enough walk, not very busy. We did the longest walk which was easy enough and I'm not really a walker! It was lovely to see horses roaming around freely in the hills.

Sharing Saltwells and Netherton Reservoir with Jake our black lab pupster 😂👍 Thoroughly recommend the nature reserve, hard core tracks perfect for pushchair or self propelled/pushed wheelchair. Off track footpaths offer a different atmosphere to the park. Clay pit is worth a mooch too, very prehistoric in feel and atmosphere as it goes really quiet the lower you go. Take the large geo/nature route upto reservoir and back to Saltwells pub for full experience of Saltwell nature reserve itself. There are attaching footpaths/public rights of way to take you a bit further. Best time to visit, early morning 6-7am or 9.30-10.30am or 6.30pm. Bird and wildlife much more active.

Great for a gentle walk not far from home. Free parking. A little muddy in places but nothing too bad. Interesting artwork along the Sculpture trail too.

Well known nature reserve in the middle of the black country. Great walks for all the family, either by foot or cycle

Only gave 4 stars because we didn't stop. It does look a lovely place and there is a pub too. It's round the back of a built up area, we parked the car on pub car park but then realised you had to go the pub to park there and we wasn't going to leave the car and end up with a fine. The nature car park was full. Think they need a bigger car park for the nature part.
