Having stayed in several Birmingham hotels over the years, this three day solo visit was my first here. I guess the rooms are a little shabby really, however the shower was top, and the bed comfortable for me, plus my corridor was ultra quiet thankfully. Bar prices are standard for city central. The refectory area looked decent though I didn't eat in. My room rates were absolutely fine, ok slightly stung for the Saturday booking but compared to other joints still offering availabilities this Bank Holiday weekend, the overall price was highly competitive. I may well return!

I never write reviews but this time I had to. We had a lovely stay, great location. We sat at the bar after our day out and we met Marina and she was honestly the loveliest. She was gave us amazing service and I can’t thank her enough for making our night a great night. She needs a raise !!! Would come back to this bar just to be served by her and I can confirm she didn’t even ask us to leave this review I just wanted to.

It is always important what kind of service your staff giving the customer. I would give one star due to the service from a lady reception on the first day and a five stars to a gentleman for his exceptional service, so I balance it to 3 stars for the service. He always positively and prompt response to our reasonable request like requesting towers and doing extra miles. The services from him is impressive. However, if you experienced something bad by someone, you won't feel that good even some of them are doing excellent after that so overall is a 2. In general, Room is spacious but it is not clean, hair was found on the pillow, stain on the carpet. We don't want to walk on the dirty floor so we asked for a pair of slippers at the reception but we were told it cost 5 pounds per pair for a disposable slippers. (I could have upgraded my room, or even a more decent hotel with this 10 pounds) This is the horrible service I received. It is ridiculous for a so called 4 stars hotel, most of the hotel I stayed, even 3 stars one, they are very willing to offer me the slippers upon my request. The staff even told me the executive room come with slippers but not the standard room then why not included in the website? That even shock me more, so you mean standard room guest need to bare their feet to walk around your dirty carpet with hair and stains? She even rudely told me Novotel won't provide even the other hotel do. I think the service from a motel would even better than this 4 stars hotel. I would have been feeling better if you just telling me they do not have slippers. I don't always need slippers as long as the carpet is clean, but unfortunately this hotel is not.

We went for afternoon tea and it was pure joy. The area was wonderfully decorated and really stylish. Our waitress was so helpful and kind, and helped make the experience. The afternoon tea itself was really tasty especially the sandwiches. I had the vegetarian option and they made a wonderful vegan coronation chicken filling. The only issue was when buying it promised prosecco but we were not offered that at the table.

Great Location Breakfast could be better, we stayed 12 nights, family of 4, 1 on wheelchair. Thanks for great friendly and professional service by Mr George. He got a us a more suitable room for our handycapped son towards end of our stay. Also like to mention a very friendly Thai lady at the reception.

I booked hotel for 1 day but looking at services provided I extended my stay additional day. Hotel staff was really helpful, specially guy name Ionut at reception he is very nice guy. He helped us to extend booking without any additional hassle and also helped to keep our luggage with hotel an additional hours even we checkout. Overall I would say nice staying at Novotel.

Lovely place, very fashionable and calm atmosphere. Jazz evening - can’t wait for that experience. Nice cold beverage in the bar. Rooms are clean and comfy. Pleasant staff. First time here but would come back again.

We had a 2 night stay with a team of young athletes. Everything we asked for was accommodated for us, even at short notice. All the staff were friendly and helpful which made our stay so much easier. The buffet meals were amazing as was the range of choice at breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Excellent location, stayed previously due to the location and parking. Staff extremely friendly and incredibly helpful. Tamanna on reception was an absolute pleasure and very helpful. Felt she went out of her way to help. Great location, room very nice with complimentary water. Breakfast was excellent, lots of staff, food replenished quickly, with a good choice, lots of space and staff again friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

What a fabulous hotel. We stayed as a family and the staff couldn't of been more helpful. I would like to give praise to both josé and tamanna. They went above and beyond and would highly recommend this hotel to all. We also booked in for the breakfast which had a large selection and it runs until 11am so you don't have to rush. We'd certainly stay here again. Thanks for making my children's holiday in Birmingham one to remember :)

We had a work meeting here for the day so can't comment on the hotel rooms. Our meeting room was great, staff really friendly both front desk and sales office beforehand. Plenty of tea, coffee selection and snacks, good location a 15 min walk from Birmingham New Street and right by the canal. Some good lunch spots nearby too.

We stayed over for our Christmas Party, what an amazing hotel in the centre of Birmingham. From start to finish the whole experience was amazing, a little apprehensive from reading the reviews, but my experience was perfect in everyway and soon realised there was nothing to worry about. All staff encountered were friendly, good selection of products in the room, every eventually catered for with comb, shaver and sewing kit. Breakfast was great, we gave our room number and was asked if we’d have breakfast before, as this was our first time one of the waiters showed us where everything was and made it that extra bit special. The parking was a godsend underground and totally secure. Slept really well and we couldn’t hear any noise from the busy Broad Street, we will be back!

We stayed for one night as we were going to a concert at the Utilitas Arena and this was the perfect spot.. nice room.. bathroom and toilet were separate rooms and a little dated but spotlessly clean. Check in staff were super helpful and we got a complimentary early check in which was a huge bonus. We had breakfast the next morning which was great value at £12 per head. great selection of Gluten Free items for me.. Thank you for everything. Looking forward to our next stay in January.

The reception area, bar and food are all very nice as well as the staff. The rooms are quite dated and tired, in serious need of modernisation. The shower over bath had a hose that was too short for the height of the shower so it would only work at 3/4 height. The toilet was also separate to the bathroom, which at first might seem a reasonable idea but the door had a strong auto close on it, so it was a bit claustrophobic in there. The biggest issue for me was the noise, I think this is the least soundproofing I’ve ever had in a hotel, you could hear everything that was going on elsewhere and a constant running water sound, our colleague four floors away said the same so it’s not localised to one floor. I’d say a step up from travel lodge but needs work.

Really friendly and professional reception staff. Comfy bed and great location. Room was spacious. Only negative comment would be carpets really need replacing - the one in the room looked really grubby with some interesting stains, and one in the corridors had seen better days.

Wonderful first time stay. Honored our request for adjoining rooms which made it even better. Impeccable service. Extremely comfortable beds. Delicious breakfast. Inexpensive 24 hour parking.

The rooms are clean, it’s right across the airport and easily accessible by train. What really makes this hotel so lovely are the staff. I’ve stayed here a few times now, and every time the staff has been great without fail, Osama took great care of us, being so friendly and attentive. Genuinely every staff from every department I’ve came in contact with was so kind.

Nice comfy rooms. Excellent location for nightlife on broad street. Only issue was, we stayed on a Friday night. It said on the welcome letter we received on check in that the bar was open until 11:59pm Fridays and Saturdays. We went to get a drink at 11pm and was told the bar closed at 11pm

Attended a weekend for my anniversary. The location of this hotel is really good and even better due to a steady decline of drunk people on Broad Street in recent years. The staff were super friendly and accommodated us really well. Parking is a little nightmare getting in and out but that's no reason to knock a star off. Rooms were clean, had ample facilities and hotel was close to a variety of popular places in Central Brum!

Amazing staff. The people in recepcion were incredibly helpful and kind. The rooms were impeccable, really clean and tidy. The breakfast had a wide range of options and the novotinis from the bar were the nicest cocktails I’ve had in a while. Fully recommend this hotel, not to mention that the location is absolutely perfect.

Went in on Saturday evening with a friend for a drink and we have an excellent time. Sebastian made very yummy cocktails and provide fantastic customer service which is very rare on busy Saturday night in the city centre. We had great laugh with him and we will definitely be back soon. Thank you, Sebastian!

Came here for my birthday to go to a concert and the staff had prepared two small cakes and strawberries for me before I got into my room, very thoughtful :) apart from that rather nice hotel, the street is quite loud, so if that would effect your sleep then I couldn’t recommend, but good stay all together.

I highly recommend grabbing something from the Sainsbury's next door or the chicken shop across the road because the food at this hotel considering it is rated 4 Stars, is absolutely below par. Very bland tasting food. I notified the chef whom then had a go at me. Completely unprofessional.

Lovely hotel. 5 minutes walk for German market and all the local attractions. Check in was quick and our room was clean and on top of that the sofa bed was setup for children,. Special thanks to reception for putting a welcome plate balloons and card for my little on as it was his birthday. You guys made his day unforgettable. Breakfast was good and had a lot of variety. Definitely coming back in Easter!!!

Perfectly placed for the Arena to see the Commonwealth games and also the city to walk in from. Pleasantly surprised as hotel was much better than we anticipated. Welcoming Receptionists and easy to check in and used fast check out. Liked that the hotel had been decorated for the games. Received a food goodie bag each which was not expected but gratefully received and enjoyed. Room was exceptionally clean and catered for our needs, ample towels, sofa bed made up etc but as we were a family of 4 (2 older children, beginning teens)would have been great to have extra mugs in the room, without having to ask as well as more tea bags plus milk. We did not use any of the facilities or the restaurant so cannot comment on this part of the hotel. Would recommend and somewhere we would go back to.

Warm and welcoming atmosphere! Staff absolutely amazing! My partner and I were celebrating his 50th birthday. I’ve never experienced such a lovely welcome at a hotel. We had cakes and balloons at our room with a lovely message. All staff were helpful and made you feel at home. Our room was quiet but small. The staff made up for anything the hotel itself fell short on.

I was undecided as to whether we should stay here for the night or one of the similar hotels nearby. As we had stayed here 7 years ago, we gave it another go. On first impressions, you would be mistaken for thinking the hotel has been through a modern revamp, but that just appears to be the restaurant and bar downstairs. We were given a family room which consisted of a double/queen bed and a sofa bed. The double was great but the sofa bed was terrible. It was lumpy, thin and uneven. We asked to be moved but the only one other option had an even worse bed. We opted to stay where we were because of this and instantly regretted it. The room was right next to the stairwell and lift. All night we heard people slamming the doors and the lift noise. The staff were made away of our decision but still came up to check at 9:10pm, which was odd not only because but we had told them but because of the time of night when both our children were trying to sleep. The staff member said she would bring an extra duvet to our room to help with the bed but she never turned up to our room again. At this stage, it was pointless given we didn’t didn’t want to disturb our children any more but it was ridiculous that she had forgotten. The hotel offered to discount our stay on check out but I am still puzzled as to why they would place a family in the noisiest room in the hotel. The room itself was tired, run down, small and stuffy. The fans in the toilet room needed cleaning and the plug in the bathroom had to be removed to avoid flooding the shower/bath, only to reveal a very dirty plug. I could have chosen a much more affordable and older chain hotel nearby and we would have had a better experience.

Had an amazing stay, from the moment I walked in the atmosphere was very welcoming. I was greeted by the lovely Veronica at reception where she checked me in a little early and gave me an great room. It was Halloween weekend and lots of the staff carved their pumpkins for the guests to vote on. The Halloween decorations were fabulous. The room was clean and spacious and super affordable. Had a stunning weekend in Birmingham.

Lovely hotel, extremely clean as soon as you walk in, rooms has everything you need and prepared fresh and clean. Staff are lovely and helpful; food is really good just a little pricey! Definitely worth a stay!

The hotel itself was great, welcoming staff and a generally clean room, though there could have been more effort in cleaning into corners. My main issue with the stay is the external noise- it goes on all night and sounds like the windows are open (they were closed). I appreciate the hotel isn't responsible for the noise generated outside but I would expect some soudproofing!

When I first arrived at hotel it was lovely I was happy that the room was ready early. And I was greeted with a friendly staff who gave me a trolley for my bags and suitcase. Never had this at other hotels before, the room was lovely but I wish it was bigger and didn't have separate toilet. The breakfast was nice but wish there was more variety the restaurant food was lovely and the non alcoholic drink. The staff were really lovely and the housekeepers made sure we didn't need for anything it was a great location to stay, food place's near by and a handy sainsbury's 2 doors away.

The hotel location on Broad Street is good, and the handy electric car charging points in the car park are really helpful! The reception area is modern and swish. The rooms are a little dated, but clean and functional; reasonably priced. Would stay here again.

Stayed few nights, amazing staff!!!! Little bit tired rooms but comfortable beds and really clean bathroom and bedroom. We didn't want our room serviced but housekeeping was quite persistent and offered fresh towels and refills. Overall amazing stay and tap on shoulder to staff who went above and beyond 👌
