What’s happened to this hotel?!! Used to be a good hotel but my goodness the staff were awful. Rude and ignorant and racist. They took my breakfast plate before I finished and and told to you should go other side because we are busy!! Waiting 20 minutes for a towel to shower. Asking about local spots from reception and she just look at my face with shoulders up and down, I don’t know, she said. With awful body language and ignorance!! Strongly strongly forbid this hotel. I am not recommend it at all.

Additional - no hot water in morning. Nothing. Ran taps for 10 minutes and nothing so no shower. Skipping breakfast and getting out of this tip. Business trip. £80 a night. Tiny room and in a mess. This is not good enough for 2022. Threadbare carpets, broken glass on floor, mould in bathroom and finger prints everywhere. After showing the pictures to reception, she booked me into a larger room where the carpet was just intact. She was pleasant and polite and understanding. The new room was still very dated though with finger prints in switches and doors and nose prints on windows. The place makes you want to disinfect yourself when you leave. Better off in a Travelodge for half the price. This place needs some serious TLC but the staff were wonderful. Pity the cleaners aren't.

Straightforward online booking procedure, payment on arrival, hotel was quite quiet and in a good location. Carpet was dirty and everywhere, so in my opinion the hotel is dated and in need of at least a freshing up. I did not like the "non view" out of the tiny window, on an internal landing area with concrete walls all around and pipes (and cigarette buts on the floor). The room was dark and you could not see the sky as a result. Overall, because I booked in advance and didn't pay a fortune, it was just okay for a couple of nights.

Nice hotel with reasonable rooms. At least the rooms on the outside of the circle are a good size, the rooms on the inside of the circle are quite limited in space. Food is nice and a good standard buffet cooked breakfast. The bar is quite extensive priced, but the staff are lovely. Located on Hagley Road it is easy to get in or around Birmingham.

I booked a standard double bedroom for 2 nights. The workers here are amazing. Makesh booked us in and was very helpful. He really is a credit to the place. He let us check out at 12 🤪 - Very friendly staff all around. Parking is FREE. Location couldn’t be better. Would definitely recommend and book again.

Fantastic venue for meetings, events or wedding receptions as the function rooms are just perfect. The bedrooms on the top floor are very dated and in need of some TLC. The gym is tiny but functional. The breakfast is amazing and the staff are delightful and very helpful. Ample parking on site and perfectly located for quality evening entertainment.

Stayed in November using the groupon deal which was great value and included late check out and buffet breakfast with full English. Staff were lovely. Room was small but clean and great value. It also had everything you needed, towels, hairdryer, iron, fan, tv and bath/shower. Plus free parking.

The hotel is a cylinder as such the rooms come in bizarre shapes many pizza slice shaped. My booking saw me use 2 different rooms. The smaller rooms are quirky and fun but adults can roll off single beds be careful.... Breakfast was fantastic i cheerish the time i had with their sausages, their mushrooms & beans were spot on too. Hash browns could probably do with another minute. The bar is a bit pricey, i wish it stayed open longer though.

Location is perfect, especially if you are visiting Birmingham city centre and it also comes with free parking. Rooms are okish. Very small room, hardly space to stretch your arms. The bathroom was a bit tired and could do with some renovation. The breakfast buffet is standard English breakfast. Overall ok hotel. If I have to match with another hotel then I would put this one next to the Travel lodge.

I am a regular at this hotel as the location is very convenient for me. The last 2 stays at this hotel has made me want to cancel my membership and consider staying elsewhere. The cleanliness of the room and bathroom is very poor. The bathroom is very smelly, the bedsheets hadn’t been changed, thankfully the towels were. During my stay last week I could hear loud noises till late from the room next door, reported to the reception nothing was done. Again I stayed 22/2/23 till 24//2/23 very noisy couldn’t sleep till after 2.40am and I was late for work in the morning due to lack of sleep. Very disappointing that nothing had been done. The staff however are friendly and welcoming. Aferdita at breakfast is very attentive and polite.

I attended the hotel using conference facility. I am a Trainer, teaching security training over 5 days period. I have to leave a review on the excellent service from staff here. Everyone I have met have been pleasant and helpful. Several members of the team I would like to mention are Amar and Mukesh who have far exceeded my expectation. I have always felt welcomed. Been greeted every morning with a friendly welcome and immediate assistance. I Simply wish to say thank you for making my training week so much more pleasurable being excepted by such friendly staff with amazing friendly attitude.

Overall good, but if you are travelling as a couple avoid the small double rooms at all cost! Great restaurant and breakfast, staff lovely

The hotel doesn't look up to much from the outside as it's in much need of some TLC but the reception area was a pleasant surprise & the lady in the desk was lovely. The room was small but very nice & did the job for the night at a very good price. We had a full English breakfast in the morning for an additional £10 and it was an all you can buffet style and was good.

Such a clever architectural.design..car park wraps round hotel. Room comfortable , but odd shape ...glad was on my own...Two people wd have been a squash, and one bed jammed against the wall.

Good budget hotel. You pay for what you get. Room is very small but for a night or two, it's not the end of the world. Comfortable bed and has everything you need. Bit of a way out from the city centre (5 minutes on bus or 30 minute walk) Quiet hotel and receptionist was very friendly.

Small single rooms, but perfectly adequate for a short stay. Breakfast was hot and plentiful. Would definitely stay here again. Well placed for central Birmingham.

Nice hotel. Lovely clean rooms. Most of the staff were very nice apart from the evening manager who was very rude had a very bad attitude. It is a shame he let the hotel down. Nice enlish and continental all you can eat breakfast.

Lovely hotel I’d be happy to stay there again. Great helpful staff who were very knowledgeable about the local area attractions and go to places. Thank you all and see you all soon for my April visit for a nearby UB40 concert.

My partner and I stayed here for 8 days with our hamster Stormi, in between moving house. First of all, I was really pleased to find a hotel that was willing to accommodate a hamster - many said they only allow cats and dogs (despite the fact Stormi makes no noise, doesn't smell, is caged, makes no mess and causes no damage). Further, they agreed to waive their policy of charging extra for pets - great to find a business willing to be flexible and use common sense. Ana was the lovely lady who agreed to this prior to our stay (presumably with senior approval, so thank you to anyone involved in applying the common sense approach!). Upon arriving, it seemed the compact room we had booked would be too small for the large cage (to be fair Ana had warned me about this via email, but I was on a budget so tried the cheapest room) - the night manager 'Mr Patel' advised even the next room up wouldn't be large enough, but agreed to give us the superior double for the same uplift as the standard double - again, great service. On one of the days the beds were being upgraded in all the rooms and Ana kindly agreed to have Stormi in the office downstairs whilst our room was being worked on - most places would just say it is against our policy, we aren't insured etc, so again it was great Ana was willing to be flexible. Mr Patel and the young chap that often worked with him at night were extremely helpful and personable consistently. During the day, Ana was the shining star, but there was also a young lady of Asian descent who was most helpful and a lady on the bar that lives near Kings Heath - also really helpful and genuinely concerned about our welfare. I think I also spoke with Matt the manager on the day of the bed change and he too was professional and courteous. Nothing was too much trouble - they gave us cutlery and plates to take to the room for take aways, ice to take to the room for drinks and they even give out drink vouchers if you are happy not to have your room cleaned - it's not heavily publicised, but just ask at the desk and they will help. Another young lady I think called Sophie was pleasant and helped with these vouchers. The food and drink is overpriced , but the one meal I had there was tasty and good for Vegans. The location is great being on the Hagley Road and you get free parking by entering your Reg into the tablets on reception - loads of parking in the outside ground level car park and further in the multi-storey. The room was comfortable if slightly dated and it was a shame there was no air conditioning (I gather some rooms of a lower cost actually have this). The hotel was really clean and generally well maintained. For us, it was perfect as it wasn't just a hotel stay, but a temporary home and they were all extremely accommodating and attentive - if there were things to fault then I'd have found them, but genuinely it was a lovely stay and the staff were impeccable. Only other critique, is the restaurant and bar closed earlier than the published times on numerous occasions, and there was no night menu for food or drink that I could see. All the staff were great and the rooms were really clean and cleaners helped with supplies (even on days we had received the voucher for no cleaning), but Ana especially made the difference! Thank you Ana! From Ross, Kelsie and Stormi 🐹 picture of the little fluffy stunner attached, for everyone's mutual benefit - so much fluff in such a tiny package!😂

So disappointed in the standard of this hotel - staff were rude and Ill-informed. When staff had made a mistake, their colleagues took their bad mood out on us with no apology - the rooms are not what they have pictured online. It’s just a bed popped in a room with no space to walk - the walls are thin so you can hear everything in the next rooms - the bath was stained yellow - no airflow in the room so they get really stuffy when you have a shower - generally felt unclean Do not stay here

Quite surprised at how small the room was, but nothing wrong with it. Lovely deep bath. Breakfast was what you expected. Did love the mugs (proper cuppa tea needed in the morning). Only down side to the hotel was that our floor (4)smelled of weed really badly, very over powering and felt it sticking to my clothes. No I didn't complain as I am sure they already knew about it as the smell been there before I booked in.

Great for the price. Private double room for £39/night is a good deal anywhere. Staff were nice and courteous (big deal for me), room was clean and I slept well. Breakfast was good value for money. BUT as others said the hotel is OLD, badly in need of renovating and it looks to me like it is almost going out of business.

Please, please, please check your rooms. I am quite frankly disappointed with the lack of cleanliness from this hotel. I read the reviews prior to booking, and decided to go with this hotel due to it's locality of my nieces funeral reception. We paid for an Executive Suite with city views, but what we in fact received was a view of trees. The room was not cleaned there were clumps of hair on the floor, there were no liquids in the dispensers over the bath, and a bug on the towel. I raised this with reception and asked for this to be rectified on our return back from the funeral reception. They had put soap in the dispensers however, they were faulty and you could not get anything out of them when you pressed it down. They brought new towels to the room, but failed to clean and vacuum the areas mentioned. I got moved to another room which smelt slightly damp and the bathroom had a smell of urine. Two of the bulbs were out which made the room look dark. I called reception yet again and advised I was not happy and would not be putting any good reviews up by any means. I was told housekeeping were closed till morning, so I asked for cleaning products and bleach so I could clean it myself. They suggested moving me to yet another room. I spoke to the duty manager Amar and we came to an agreement. I just won't be staying again until their hygiene levels severely increase.

My team and I hosted a workshop here and it was fantastic! Claire and the team were very helpful and accommodating throughout my stay. The food and snacks that were provided throughout the two days were great and when we had to leave the staff at reception booked taxis for the workshop attendees. I would absolutely recommend doing a workshop here and look forward to staying at the Strathallan again in the future.

Despite having to pay a lot for this hotel, we were put in a tiny room (a double bed and a small walkway) not big enough for two. The carpet didn't go under the bed and was ripped up showing the concrete below. There were fixtures missing, dirty curtains and it was generally not a great room, especially for the price.

The rooms were okay but the executive double room did not have an air conditioner. When we complained to the staff about this, they said the less expensive rooms have air conditioners but not the executive rooms. This does not make sense! The windows in the room were sealed shut and we could only open them a tiny bit which was so odd! The room was so stuffy and hot! When we asked the front desk about this we were told that too many people have tried to commit suicide so that is why they are sealed like that. If that’s the case then why don’t they put burglar bars to avoid suicide attempts and to enable their customers to be comfortable in the rooms. However, the breakfast was okay and the customer service was okay too I guess.

Very nice hotel. We were on a coach tour package so not sure what to expect. The hotel didnt look songood on the outside but definitely had a good refurbishment on the inside. Rooms small but totally adequate, clean and modern. Bathroom really good with bath and shower. Excellent breakfast. We had a 3 course meal in with our deal set menu which was good. Not for those with a big appetite but good value. Go for the garlic mushroom starter for sure! Staff all very pleasant. Very happy with the facilities overall.

I had a 1 night stay while my son was recovering from an operation. Free parking was a massive plus point. On arrival to reception the lady was very helpful. Lobby and bar area very nice. Corridors on 5th floor are a bit dark and in need of redecoration but it was very clean. I had a small double room and yes the room was very small but it was ideal for my needs. Comfy, clean bed. Rest of the room was clean and tidy. While using the bar and checking out the following day the staff were as equally friendly and helpful. All in all a pleasant visit.

The staff made this place. Staying there for work, my organisation had arranged for breakfast to be early for our group, but nobody told the hotel. The staff sorted it out without issue for the whole week. Again when we were due to leave our organisation said we should leave our equipment securely at the hotel, they facilitated this at short notice The room I had was large and the bed was clean and comfortable. Overall the building could do with some love and attention. If you need somewhere to stay with a good breakfast this wasn't a bad choice.

We’ve stayed here a couple of times recently. Handy for public transport into the city or elsewhere (bus stop right outside). Building showing its age but any minor room problems dealt with promptly. Staff were helpful and friendly. Due to be down in Birmingham again soon and will happily book again.

Had a pleasant couple of nights for an after Christmas break. Most things were fine, especially the included buffet breakfast. Unfortunately in the mornings, we had no hot water despite leaving the tap running for over 15 minutes, it was OK later but had to boil a kettle on both mornings for a sink wash. Not acceptable.

Very nice hotel. Corridors a bit drab and dark but rooms were very bright and welcoming. I have to say that Cristina on reception was so helpful and cheerful, having a lot of patience with my elderly father who hadn't stayed in a hotel for many years.

  • 4/5 Adrian O. 2 years ago on Google
For the price the hotel was perfect. There was some noise in the middle of the night as it didn't seem like the walls was thick enough but it was also due to noisy people. Otherwise it was pet friendly, service was good and the protected parking was a bonus. The check-in process was smooth as was the check out. The rooms are a bit dated and small but its great if you need a place to just lay down for a night and budget friendly.

Stayed in the executive room, decent size and modern features. Bathroom outdated and low pressure shower. Breakfast could be better very salty mushrooms and under done bacon. Rest was nice. Aferdita at breakfast was attentive and polite. Would stay here again due to price and secure car park.
