First time staying here in a budget hotel. Double with a bunk. Rooms are small, very small toilet and shower, good water pressure in shower. Welcome and stuff and friendly. Beds were lovely and comfortable. Breakfast is only toast & fruit, no cooked food. £8 for parking which isn't very clear on arrival, you would expect parking to be in with the price of the hotel. It felt like a refugee camp and the other guests make you feel like you're not welcome here and constantly stare at you.

You honestly pay for what your getting. Me and my partner stopped here after a few drinks around Birmingham, great location and everything within walking distance. Hotel itself is very tired and poorly maintained. Staff were friendly but very minimal, loads of noise from the road with constant sirens and horns. Lift was like waiting for a train very unpredictable and took so long in the end just used the stairs. I don’t think I will be stopping at the hotel again I’ll pay the extra for somewhere nice and quite.

We check-in around midnight , staff are friendly and welcomed. Nice thing is,it is too close to city center by walk. You have all shop nearby. So coming to hotel, they never mentioned about parking price for car, they charged £8 for parking. Room are so small but it’s okay for the price. Wash room and bathroom are so tiny and separate so it quite helpful to get ready for 2 people. Air conditioning is not working in the room. Room is complete hot you can’t even sleep, when we opened window for air it is full noise. Not got a good sleep. But it is worth for the price. We haven’t got time for breakfast so we left early checkout. If people want to relax are chat, some drinks and games are available next to reception.

Key card didn't work on arrival. Lots of noise from outside rooms throughout the night. As I was walking out to the smoking area on my 2nd day, some fellow guests threatened another fellow guest with violence for looking at them. After speaking to the threatened guest in question, there was nothing to provoke this. Shower was OK. Toilet smelt bad before I'd even had a go at it. Found a young child riding the lift because his parents were fighting a few floors up. Staff are great, cannot fault them - not their fault. Would recommend spending the extra £20 to get somewhere better

Rooms are small, with a small window and basic en suite facilities, which is really what you would expect from a budget hotel. However, things you probably shouldn't expect are poo baked onto the toilet bowl to greet you, fluff all in the bottom of the shower, and a general feeling that the room has only been looked at by a cleaner since the last guests. On top of that the key cards didn't work the when we received them, and still didn't after they had been sorted out again so we were up and down sorting that out. And at £90 on a Saturday night I would hardly call the poo stained cell we stayed in budget. The beds were however surprisingly comfortable and the location is decent. But the rest is unforgivable I'm afraid.

This is a budget hotel not just in name, the rooms are small but functional sadly the mattresses are very uncomfortable. On the positive side the hotel is centrally located, within 5 minutes walk of the very heart of Birmingham, it has an excellent car park but what I found to be it's biggest asset was the staff. I was initially given my room and initial support by Lisa, what a warm and friendly professional she was and I found all staff to be warm and accommodating, they definitely brought my scoring higher!!

First time in an ibis budget. Accessable room was fine, a bit difficult to get in with a large mobility scooter but manageable. Large shower room with shower seat. Continental breakfast was better than most places. Great staff. Don't want to go out to eat in the evening, their 10inch pizza for under £7 was really good. A short walk to the Chinese quarter and not far to the bull ring and markets.

The hotel is brilliantly located with really secure parking. The bed was comfortable enough for the cost and the reception staff were super friendly both checking in and out. The only issue we experienced was the poor shower that slowed to a literal trickle after a couple of minutes use. We would definitely stay here again (and probably skip the shower next time)!

You get what you pay for. Rooms are very affordable but very basic and smaller than expected however the price you pay for it. Makes it fair. The room was clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location wise its in the centre of the city which is convenient just means a lot of traffic surronding the area.

It says on the website that there is a refrigerator, but it turns out that the fridge is for all hotel guests and only employees have access to it. The microwave is not private either. There are no basic things like a kettle and shampoo in the room. The mattress is really thin and hard and there is only one blanket and 2 hard pillows, there was only one chair. The price was not cheap at all. The design of the room is also reminiscent of a hospital. The only good thing is that the hotel is close to city center.

This Ibis Budget hotel is very close to all City Centre amenities. We stay at this hotel every time we visit Birmingham, for the closeness to everything and the fact that we can take our dog. Basic rooms, but fantastic shower, & comfy bed. Continental Buffet breakfast is very good, and topped up regularly. Staff are really friendly and go out of their way to help. This hotel offers us everything we need for a great weekend, we will always return. Thanks again for your warm welcome!

Perfectly adequate hotel room with a small, but very clean and tidy twin room. Stayed three nights and housekeeping came each day to tidy, make bed and leave fresh towels. No kettle in room but not unusual for a budget hotel. Good friendly staff and easy check in and out. Car park was a little small for the number of rooms so was overfull each night of our stay, so when busy don't always expect a space. Hotel is about a 15-20 walk into City Centre via some underpass and crossings so is fairly decent for access, we were doing a convention at NEC and I thought it is a bit far out for that as it's about a 40 minute drive. Overall would be happy to stay here again.

My room was as expected from ibis hotel clean but very basic. £45 for a room that sleeps three was exceptional value for money. I arrived much later than planned but the staff were polite and checked me in without any issues. The location was ideal for what I needed would stay again

Beyond basic. Room felt like a mix of a prison cell and student accommodation. The shower was basically in the bedroom. The sink was in the bedroom. £114 a night is not cheap enough for this place. One lift didn't work the whole time. Parking was limited and you had to pay. The reason for two stars is because the staff were really nice otherwise would've been one!

Great value Very comfortable beds Rooms spacious Shower very powerful No plug socket near the bed ? Why do the cleaners start knocking at 9.30 am when check out is 12. Someone tried my door without knocking around 10am..I was up but was indisposed so missed whoever it was Odd behaviour.. Put a sign to use on the door saying I've left so please clean the room maybe ? I was exhausted after a late work night and didn't appreciate the knocking. Especially when check out is 12 o clock

Clean and simple. Very claustrophobic toilet space. Thought it was a cupboard. BUt it was clean. Breakfast was rather basic for,, £8.50. I was told they had a proper breakfast and it was just crumpets and toast, it was more like a continental

Had a nice stay, got a good night sleep nice cozy room. Comfortable bed and the location is great. The only downside is parking is limited and another car park is located somewhere else about 8-10min walk.

Basic budget hotel. Cheap and cheerful. Clean. Key cards can be challenging and let you in randomly, sometimes straight away or after the tenth swipe, keeps you entertained ! You wouldn't want to share the room with anyone unless you were comfortable taking your clothes off in front off them as no privacy in room. Glass shower cubical. No kettle in room so take a travel kettle if you want hot drinks although can be purchased downstairs from vending machine, I think? I've no complaints for the price paid.

Had everything you need, nice views from the higher rooms and all the staff are lovely and help straight away! We went at 12 even though check in was at 3 and our room was already cleaned and sorted ready for our stay. Amazing stay for just £40 a night! The hotel is just a short walk from the city which was also really handy!

The staff were fantastic, the rooms had good showers and were clean. The breakfast was OK but no egg or bacon. Overall very nice stay

I often use the Ibis Budget brand hotels. By some distance this was the worst experience of the brand I have had. Indifferent reception staff. Only one lift working in a large hotel. Not "city centre" in my book. Little effort to assist disabled people, steps everywhere. One member of staff was helpful. Another greeted me as I left.

Well what a little hidden gem. For a budget hotel, it was fantastic. Half way meet point to see my friend I hadn't seen in a few years for a catch up, we both loved it. Rooms yes, basic but, v clean and made use of all space. Staff, so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Facilities great. V eclectic set of people staying there, coming and going, v chilled, relaxed atmosphere. Would def recommend, and when I come back to Birmingham will def book again. Keep doing what your doing because your all fab. X 😁

Staff lovely.. Very friendly from reception staff to cleaning staff. Room was spotlessly clean bed was very comfortable. Shower hot and powerful. Would definitely recommend to others. Breakfast OK but not much in the way of vegan alternatives. Our breakfast was included.. Had it not been I don't think we would have been happy to pay & £8.50 to be honest.

Great location and lovely helpful staff, better than some upmarket hotel staff. Breakfast is good value and were able to provide me with gluten free bread and soya/almond milk. The only criticism is the door entry cards keep failing and you have to get them reset at reception all the time. Noisy plumbing doesn't help if you're a light sleeper. However It wouldn't put me off staying here again.

I am so shocked! I don't think I've ever bothered to review a hotel stay before because... how can you go wrong with a bed and a bathroom, right? But I need to warn people! Ask for a room with a proper bathroom - not a wet room. This ruined my stay. The entire bathroom floor was flooded and unusable after one shower. No mop. When I asked for a mop, I waited hours and was eventually given a cloth on a stick. Had to change room on arrival as neither plug socket worked and I found both rooms to be dirty (moved beds together and found filth). Even found a silverfish in the bathroom. Budget shouldn't mean below standard. Polite note to hotel staff: please consider personal safety and don't loudly announce guests' names and duration of stay. This was very uncomfortable. I've booked a different hotel for my next trip.

For the price I paid for one night stay in the hotel, it was not budget however the room definitely was! No coffee making facilities in the room, just two paper cups but I would not even consider drinking the tap water. The photos online showed a bright and airy room but what is actually there is a tired looking, small and questionably clean room. The decor needs a refresh and the cleaning standard definitely need to be addressed. I was lucky I was just using the room to sleep in for one night but I honestly wish I’d stayed in another hotel as for the money there are better options available. A positive was the car park behind the hotel, however this is chargeable at £8 per day which I wasn’t aware of.

I have stayed at the regular Ibis next door for conventions previously but decided to stay in the Budget side this time to see what the difference was. Wow, was there a difference! The second (bunk) bed was missing its sheets, nothing at all on the walls, there was only one socket in the whole room at the opposite end of the room to the bed and the room became SO hot and stuffy at night neither of us could sleep. The A/C isn't actually air con, and just cools the room only if it is more than 21C outside (which unfortunately it wasn't) so to turn on it would only heat the room more! The windows for safety only open a couple of inches. Building works directly outside our window started at 5am with jackhammers - nice! No hair dryer provided but the staff at the desk were so lovely and let me borrow one for the room. It was dreadfully sticky and stank of someone else's hairspray but at least at worked. The staff were unbelievably kind, efficient and went above and beyond to deliver good service but unfortunately the room really was subpar. If the cost was dirt cheap then fair enough, but it was only a few pounds less than a regular Ibis room. I'll pay the extra 5 pounds next time and not feel like I'm in a prison cell!

Staff here are great, and work hard to make you comfortable. For a budget hotel, they are right on track. Pet friendly. My only dislike was their old, outdated debit machines which make it impossible for you to use your bank card/Visa, etc. Some cigarette smokers smoke their cigarettes right in front of the door where they are outside of the designated smoking areas. I should not have breathe their smoke each time I'm in the lobby. Seems to be an overlooked problem in hotels I've stayed at. I very happily will still rate a 5-star for this hotel. Steve G.

I stayed here for a business trip and the room was fine for a budget hotel. The shower drain stank when you went into the shower room when the shower was off, and the room itself was freezing even though I tried to adjust the temperature. I had to hold my nose while I got in the shower to cope. Bed was comfortable and there was a nightlight that was useful to not have to get up to turn the light off. TV had a lot of channels but the time on it kept resetting, so the turn on alarm that I set didn't go off at the correct time. As other reviews mention, no kettle in the room but they have a hot water canister in the lobby that you can access, as well as tea and coffee. Rooms were clean and tidy with plenty of towels. My low review on service is due to the 'breakfast' offering. I phoned up a few weeks in advance (as I have coeliac disease) and asked if there was any allergy safe breakfast that I could have. I was told yes, there is lots as a selection. When I arrived, the only food available was a bag of gluten free bread on a stand, directly next to an open bin of full gluten bread and muffins, and when I asked if there was a separate toaster for gluten free toast, I was told "Sorry, no." Due to the placement I didn't trust that the cereal was safe as well, in addition to the jams and spread just being in a pot with a spoon in, I ended up having to just have a banana for both nights of my stay. Overall, room was serviceable for what was needed for my stay, but the breakfast was appalling - coeliacs or anyone with allergies, avoid.

Great budget hotel. Welcoming staff at reception. The rooms are small but I expected that for the price. The rooms are spotless with spotless bedding and towels. The beds are comfortable. The hotel is ideally located for O2 Academy, Mailbox and Gay Quarter. I will definitely stay here again.

Fantastic experience especially for a budget. Only about a 5 min walk into central town area. The staff are warm and welcoming on reception and happy to help you where ever you can. I spoke to 4 different Receptionists and each was friendly no matter how busy it was. Downside was the room keycard system. As it was a swipe card it was almost like Among Us, trying to get the right speed and consistency to get into your door. I dread to think after a night out trying to get in. Rooms were decent for the price. Overall great experience

Room was adequate - bed comfortable enough and shower toilet etc were clean. My room was over the entrance door to the carpark so was disturbed by people coming and going and delivery at around 5am. That all said it was cheap, clean and staff seemed happy enough to be there.

Good cheap hotel for a short stay after a concert. TV, bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. close to the centre of Birmingham and lots of food options around. staff on the desk were polite and nice on both check in and out. its a budget hotel, so you get what you pay for however for one night, it worked just fine

Can definitely say I couldn't fault the room..price was 345 for 4 nights for 3 of us.The room was clean, bedclothes crispy and cleaned regularly with change of towels..staff were lovely, friendly helpful and mannerly. Now the toilet, shower facility can be called strange or extremely useful...depending on how you look at it.. the shower was powerful and hot..a budget hotel I couldn't fault.

Lovely hotel and cheap prices. The beds were comfy and a really cool layout. Pretty much had everything you need in a basic room. Only issue was the shower door was very much see through frosted glass and wish we had the option of a kettle and tea in the room

  • 3/5 Matt B. 2 years ago on Google
You get what you pay for. First room we went into stank of cannabis; the second one’s door needed to be swiped super slowly to get in. Room was clean; towels and bedding were fine. The hotel is extremely close to the O2 arena so perfect for a concert if you wanted to go to one. Breakfast was very limited; not bad though. I wouldn’t stay again; the IBIS budget hotels in Europe are much nicer.

Great initial welcome from the reception staff. All the staff I met during my stay were extremely friendly and helpful. The room wasn't particularly big but it's a budget hotel so that is exactly what I was expecting. A great location not too far from the city centre but if you don't wish to walk to it, the 61 and 63 buses stop right by it. Will definitely stay there again when I go back to Birmingham. 👍

Me & my friend stayed here for 1 night, it was such good location and only few mins walk to centre. It was very clean. We got a double room & it was a very good space! Very quaint & sooo good for a traveler. I have nothing negative to say. It was quiet as well, had no problems with any noises. Checking in and out was so quick and easy. Staff were friendly. The free breakfast was simple but very nice touch even if it’s an ibis budget. Would definitely recommend for a night or few nights stay if you are wanting to save & not bothered about having a big/amazing room and hotel.

  • 3/5 Anna C. 1 year ago on Google
It can be better but it can be worse. I do not like a location because is next to a busy street and if you have a window on the street is noisy. On the other hand is fairly close to city centre what you might appreciate. This is a budget hotels but they got not bad standard. If you are here for a short break I guess it's OK. If you are looking for something more sophisticated or elegant search for a different place. Three stars out of five.

  • 4/5 Shannon S. 1 year ago on Google
We stayed for 1 night. The location is perfect for a walk into the city centre and the thing that attracted us to this hotel was the fact it had its own secure car park, unlike a lot of other hotels in the city. The car parking charge was very reasonable at £8 for 24 hours. The room was clean but had a very clinical feel to it (we both said we felt like we were in hospital). There are no tea and coffee refreshments in the room. The room is small with the sink in the room and a small "cupboard" for a separate shower and toilet. Overall, for the price you pay, its fine for 1 night. There had only been one pillow each supplied so I asked at reception for 2 more and they were helpful and friendly. Check out was 12pm which is perfect and not too early.
