It’s an absolutely gorgeous café, can’t deny that. I had only one small latte, which was good. The service was too slow though. I came in alone at 12:30 and was told to take a seat behind the counter at the bar facing Pinfold Street with nothing to see but the wall. It was boring. Such a nice cafe but all I could see was the wall. I waited 20 minutes before a staff took my order at 12:50. I wanted to order some savory snacks, but considering the wait time, I didn’t think it was a good idea since I had a train to catch at 13:30. I believe it was just a bad day, and the café must be such a pleasant place most of the time. But this was my experience so I rated it accordingly.

Went here for a late breakfast and to get some work done and I’m glad I went here! The service was friendly and the atmosphere was great. I ordered the Arabian Eggs and the Ruby Sahlab (?) hot chocolate with a shot of espresso in it. The Arabian Eggs were overall really good but I will say the yoghurt to bread and eggs ratio was a bit off. The Ruby hot chocolate was really great with an espresso shot in it, it made it a bit less sweet but overall I loved the white chocolate and rose flavor. Ended up coming back here for the hot chocolate on a rainy evening.

Dissapointed with my recent visit to Yorks. Was not greeted when walked in, server came over to clean the table rather than welcome us in. Whilst waiting for food, fruit flies were swarming around! Once food arrived, the sourdough toast was burnt and could taste the charcoal. Asked for it to be remade and they offered to just remake the toast, so the scrambled eggs were cold when the toast arrived. Overall not pleasant, there are much better cafes around Birmingham and would not recommend spending £17 for a brunch here unless you don’t mind flies trying to dine with you :)

Popped in for brunch, after getting off the train at New Street Station. Great atmosphere of people working and just meeting up. A wide range of ages in there which I think says a lot about the quality of a place. That everyone is welcome and feels comfortable, whether young or more mature. The food was very good and the staff were welcoming and friendly .

First time visiting Birmingham and this is hands down the best place around for brunch. I had the butter chicken with French toast and wow... never had a better breakfast in my life. Amazing atmosphere with friendly atmosphere. I am gutted that I don't live nearby so that I could come back regularly. Compliments to the chef, brilliant food and warm establishment.

We ordered [Georgian Chirbuli], [Eggs Benedict], [York’s house breakfast] and few cups of coffee. - The foods were scrumptious but the coffee is a little bit smaller cup compared to the usual cup you see from other places. - Excellent customer services 💯 great place to hang out with friends.

Great food! Coffee was a bit cold to my liking - lesson for next time to ask for extra hot 😊 we ordered Turkish eggs & Arabian eggs, the dishes were flawless and the Greek yogurt was very well seasoned . Poached eggs were perfect as well as the bread was amazingly soft. Decor was quite rustic, could be improved especially with just one toilet. Although a good place in the city centre.

Coffee absolutely perfect as always, but was a tiny bit disappointed with my breakfast, not quite up to the standard set by the coffee (first time I've eaten here). Still above average, just expected a little more. Top chilli sauce though.

Food and drinks were great! Price was adequate overall. A standard breakfast place that would not disappoint with a great amount of selection to choose from.

Good spot for a brunch. Small place and tends to be crowded during weekends. Expect a short wait until seated. Humble and welcoming staff. Good coffee. Tried the Turkish eggs, pretty rich in butter. Overall: 👍🏼

Loved our visit to this cafe! The service was quick, and friendly (despite being very busy, which makes it doubly impressive in my mind!) and the food and coffee was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend it!

This is a great little coffee shop. Space is a bit limited, but this adds to the buzz and atmosphere of the place. The coffee is good, but my strong advice is to opt for the large coffee as the cup size is small (my only criticism). The food is really nice and there is a good range to choose from, buns to small meals and snacks. Staff are very good and efficient.

I needed a place to work in Birmingham and Yorks was perfect. I was able to set up a computer, drink a delicious flat white and nibble on a banana muffin without any problem. Staff seemed really friendly and it's well located, just by Birmingham New Street station.

Went in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I had the English breakfast plate for £15 and it was nice and filling. I am glad the people next to me chose the avocado on toast as I found the quantity of that very mimimal for over £9 which is why I took as star off. The hot chocolate was £5.50 and was probably the best I have had in ages! Nice waitresses. Clean toilets. Nice and warm inside. I did get a bit annoyed as there were small flies over my table and I had to keep trying to get them away from my food.

Really handy location near to Birmingham New Street station. Staff were lovely and accommodating, and ran me through the choices of cakes so I didn't have to leave my seat to look at the counter. The Persian love cake was really special, and the coconut cold brew was a nice change from my usual iced latte. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area :)

Delicious food and mocha and nice spot to work for a couple hours on Thursday morning before it got busy at lunch. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

I was in Birmingham for a City break with a friend and we discover York’s on google when we arrived at the Train station. Last Sunday we were starving after our journey coming from London so we decided to have a brunch. The cafe was very busy but we didn’t have to wait long to get a table, we ordered a Yorks House Breakfast which was so delicious, Fried chicken & French Toast with a beautiful sauce on the side and the Masala fries which were very tasty. Staff was really lovely and friendly. Also great coffee selection and perfect atmosphere for a Café. We went back again for more coffee and Avocado smashed and Feta cheeses on Toast, so yummy! Probably one of my favourite cafes ever!

I do like it here. A refreshing change from the mainstream coffee houses. A great all day menu and reasonable prices. I dropped in for coffee and eggs Benedict. Staff were polite and served me well. It perhaps wasn’t the quickest service but I guess some things are waiting for. That said it’s a great find and worth a visit… then another, then another. We’ll done! PB 👌🏻

Spent half a day in Yorks Cafe studying and I absolutely loved it. Super friendly cheerful staff. Amazing food and beverages; they know how to make the perfect dishes with the right mix of flavors and to give you the best experiences. I tried the Marrakech Avocado toast, eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, and chai latte and enjoyed all three but the avocado toast was my favorite; it gives you a full experience from the richness of the hummus paste, the creaminess of the meticulously picked avocados and the freshness of their toast dough to the crunchy addition of the black seeds, the chili flakes and not to mention the zesty sour touch of pickled pink onions 😍

Love this place. Been going for years. Small, beautiful dishes that are very tasty and a great chai latte as well. We'll situated outside the train station or easy to get to from Victoria Square.

Really enjoyed the rustic style and atmosphere of this place. Staff and even fellow patrons were very polite and friendly. Had a flat white of a washed Ethiopian roast and really enjoyed the flavours, definitely a proper coffee shop. Had their special cookie of the day which had popcorn and pretzel and crisps in it, which was a bit odd but I liked their creativity. Popular so can be a bit loud and maybe not suited to something like studying at busy periods. Would recommend!

Love this place <3 Good selection of teas (oolong, green, white, herbal, rooibos), great coffee and very good small plates. Lemon polenta and sorrel cake had a gooey centre and was delightful. Social distancing well observed, staff friendly and helpful. Lots of natural light and good people-watching. Relaxing place to be.

This is a quirky well laid out cafe/bistro with fabulous food. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. We had brunch and there were some unusual dishes offered. I had buttered poached eggs with herbs and pickled pink onions on sourdough with a spicy mayonnaise, which was fabulous. The teas are served on little trays with individual glass teapots - so charming. For £20 we had a memorable experience and I would highly recommend 👌

Yorks Cafe & Coffee Roasters. Staff are super friendly and food is quite good. The decoration is nice but it’s a really small place so not a lot of space between tables. Strongly recommended!! =)

  • 4/5 Ewelina B. 1 year ago on Google
Simple pouched eggs on a tost but delicious. Pieces of chives gave a flavour. Earl grey (blue flower), mandatory has to be combined with lemon which the waiter found for me 😽 Great nobody approached me with milk ;) Watch out on Saturday mornings this place gets full within minutes.

  • 3/5 Hannah A. 1 year ago on Google
Was quite busy so staff were a little brisk and short. Food was overly complex and quality was not great. Ordered Turkish eggs which ended up being unseasoned yoghurt with unflavoured oil on top, and a small piece of bread to eat with it. Food looked good but tasted poor. Would not come again.

  • 5/5 Simon 1 year ago on Google
We stopped for a quick coffee and had a flat white and iced latte. The drinks are a bit shorter than in some places, which for me is a good thing as you get more flavour from the coffee but some people might prefer more milk. The flat white was particularly good. The cafe is table service, although we weren't sure to begin with.

Very friendly staff! Just stopped in for a coffee but lovely room and ambiance to take a break from running around the city. Waitress had some nice suggestions too as it was my first time in Birmingham. Pleasant venue and will look to try the food next time everybody’s plates looked delicious! 5/5 I will definitely return next time I pass through the city

It was tasty but not enough to justify the price: £33.50 for 2 breakfasts. See the large cappuccino on the pic. I had to pay £1 extra for 2mushrooms with the egg benedict. The York House breakfast looked good but not really big (1 small sausage, lots of beans, 1 mushroom). Fancy but expensive. Won't go again.

  • 4/5 Alyn A. 1 year ago on Google
Great venue, but get there early to avoid queues. Service was good, and I like that they take payment when you order so you can just get up and go when done. Food was good, but would not say as amazing as it looked, but that could just be my taste. The presentation was fantastic how ever! The only reason to drop one star was the coffee was not hot enough, again just my taste, but I could have finished it before my food arrived, ask for it extra hot. Well worth a visit.

  • 4/5 Ravi P. 1 year ago on Google
Really nice cafe right next to the station. Coffee and hot chocolates were great, really nice blends of coffee used. The food was also very good, although the prices were a bit steep (£14 for the full English). My partner asked if they could provide and vegetarian alternative in the full English (vegi sausage rather than pork) however they weren’t able to accommodate this. Good selection of alternative vegetarian options however. One suggestion would be to offer vegetarian sausages in the full English to cater for a wider variety of customer. Service was 10/10.

I came here for brunch with a group of my friends. The cold drip tasted nice and refreshing. The salmon egg benedict was good, but i don't think it was worth the price as the portion was quite small.

Yorks Cafe was intriguing because there's always a line outside the demand that piqued my interest. After waiting a few times in line and giving up, we eventually gave in and braved queue. It took a while to be served, but it was incredibly busy but we were greeted by a friendly waiter. We made our way to the table and it was incredibly crammed tables were closely squeezed together. We made our order and were told some items off the menu weren't available due to how busy it was. The first menu item was the chicken and waffles. The chicken was amazing however the waffle was nothing to write home about, but overall, a great dish I would come back for. It left me excited for the next item, which was the Lamba Kofta Tagine. This killed the mood for me. The sauce was uninspired and bland, the Kofta was dry , and the egg was perfectly cooked it didn't add much to the equation. Overall, I think I'd return (if the queue wasn't in the equation). I'd try a few more items, but I couldn't wholeheartedly recommend it knowing not everything in the menu is on par.

Avoid until they sort their insect problem! We visited York’s for the first time for a spot of Saturday brunch. The staff were friendly but there were so many flies! The food took a while to come and when it did it was disappointing- toast was burnt and bacon was extremely tough. We spent the whole time batting flies away from our food. We called it quits once we found flies in both our coffees. Surprised that throughout, none of the staff asked how our meal was/if we wanted to move tables. Would avoid this place until they sort out their insect issues.

Very pleasant but a bit less great than expected. It's impressive that they roast their coffee on the premises. I was hoping for a cold brew which they didn't have this time so i got an iced americano which i find is not quite as good. I also find it an amazing idea that they offer a free filter coffee to take to a homeless person but they didn't have filter coffee this time either. I would expect better prep for a Saturday morning. The staff was very friendly just the service was a bit slow. That being said, i was there during a rush hour

A lovely little, relaxing cafe situated in the heart of Birmingham for a spot of brunch! I would've given 5 stars but unfortunately, the fried chicken and waffle that I ordered was far too sweet (the waffle itself was very sweet and wasn't very soft either and there was too much maple honey given too...). I've heard and read a lot of positive reviews about Yorks cafe previously so although my first experience here wasn't the best, I'll be giving it another chance as I'm hopeful that their other brunch options will be better!

Great place but it takes ages to place your own order via their website and of course then you can't use Google pay or Apple Pay. Luckily one of us had a bank card! Quicker and easier to ask for a menu and order "old school"

Nice coffee and food tastes good, but ridiculously small portions for all meals ordered. For £10 the brunch was the size of a starter in a fine dining establishment. When we explained to the waiter the food was nice but a disappointing portion sizehsize size didudid a poor job of acting surprised (they must get told this all the time) and said he would tell the chef but no other response or apology.

It states that they’re open from 7:30am weekdays but when we arrived at 8am they told us they open at 8:30am. We were advised to used the scan code to order but that didn’t work because their site wasn’t accessible. The coffee was extremely bitter. My friend asked for 2 sweeteners with her coffee which the worker placed on the teaspoon - which wasn’t practical considering you’d need a magnifier to find them. We ordered the vegan breakfast - everything tasted stale, the potatoes tasted cold and and bread that accompanied it looked sad. When we asked to pay we asked to split the bill but the worker did not double check this before charging it all to one card. unfortunately overall it was a disappointing experience - will not be returning! P.S They don’t have Tabasco sauce ☹️

As is usual with Yorks, a very nice experience with great quality food and not too long waiting times. Well worth the visit and the best cafe in the area for sure. Coffee also is very good and strong but with a unique flavor. Much recommend going here.

My favourite breakfast in the city. The Arabian eggs are delicious - absolutely dripping in butter - gorgeous! Great coffee too - the best roast in Birmingham. Also dog-friendly. The team are efficient and friendly. Special shout out to Emily and Craig, thank you. The place gets ever so busy - especially Saturdays, I think. So please be patient if you do come here when it's busy. My favourite place in Birmingham.

Not as good as it used to be. Buttered eggs overdone. Clearly cooked in advance which isn’t a problem if controlled. But service was sharp as usual. Been a while since I’ve been so won’t write it off. One of the more unusual places in Brum.

Popped here for lunch whilst on my break at work today. Fairly quick service for time of day. The three girls behind the bar were working well. Coffee (latte) was well made and must enjoyed. The food was delicious, can't remember the name of the sandwich, but basically it was chicken in some artisan flatbread and a cookie for the dessert, again delicious. All for under £14, I'll definitely be visiting again 👍

This place is not Corona-safe AT ALL, especially the stuffy downstairs area. While most other places in town have wisely refitted their space since the pandemic, York's doesn't seem to have changed the seating arrangements, with people basically sitting on top of each other down there... How is this even allowed? York's used to be one of my favourite places in town, but I stopped going because the food was getting progressively worse, and staff didn't seem like they were treated well. After two years of not going, I was surprised to find that the food has gotten even stodgier and stingier (portion sizes shrunk). This place is all concept, but no quality... due to what seems to be a lack of genuinely caring leadership.

Went with my sister around 5, the staff was very very unwelcoming. I understand that we arrived 1 and a half before their closing time. But they just looked so uninterested and by their face looked like they wanted us to leave. We ordered pistachios cookie, apple pie which were quite good. But the drinks were pathetic. I ordered white hot chocolate and my sister cappuccino and the white chocolate was made so poorly. I felt like they just added white powder to hot water. There was also white chocolate powder at the bottom of the cup!!!!. The cappuccino was cold and not worth the price. I have been to so many cafes and have always had a good experience but from the unwelcoming staff to terribly overpriced drinks which taste nasty I wouldn't ever go bac.

Pretentious, overpriced and poor quality Ordered a coffee which was cold, to which the waitress decided to slam it down on the table when we asked for it to be reheated. menu overpriced for food to then come out burnt and they didn’t even have ice for iced drinks. Not worth it - especially considering the poor customer experience

A place with character, nice coffee, amazing cakes, surprisingly good food and cosy industrial design interiors. We would have stayed for at least 3 h, hard to leave ...but we had to make room for other customers, it’s quite popular. We’ll be back ... Improvement suggestion: toast was burn and cold, unpleasant to chew it, luckily rest of the breakfast made me forget about it for few minutes.

The coffee was good. However the food was a bit disappointing even though it has a decent presentation. We have ordered a chicken waffle and house breakfast. For the chicken, it's too dry, and the waffle is a bit too sweet for me. Most importantly, I was shocked by how the poached egg was cooked. The egg yolk was not runny at all. I would rather called it a soft boiled egg. It wasn't worth to pay £10 each for the food. I hope they could improve it.

Popped here after reading some Google reviews and wanting some brunch whilst visiting Birmingham. We stood at the door, as signposted, for over 5mins before we were acknowledged. It was a Sunday at 12:30pm so a busy time for brunch and it was clear they short staffed as I could only see one waitress doing several jobs. We eventually got a seat outside and used the app, as instructed, to order our food, this worked well. I had the buttered Arabian eggs, really tasty but a little disappointed the eggs were not runny (my fiance's eggs Benedict was the same too). I enjoyed an iced latte which was good. However my fiancé ordered a can of coke which when came had clearly not been kept in a fridge and the glass served with it had no ice so then had to ask for some. Really recommend the food here but just get a feeling we caught them at particularly busy time.

The service was fantastic. Staff we waiting outside to make us feel comfortable provided hand sanitiser straight away then guided us to our seats. They asked if we were happy the seats they provided and showed us the other options to make sure we were happy. Ordering the food was contactless really easy to use. The food was excellent. Overall excellent quality and experience
