If you ever wanted to visit the backrooms in real life this place is for you. The escalators are so yanky, suspicious, i feel like they are about to break every second , always creaking under you. It feels like a maze, lights half off half on, spooky vibes. It feels abandoned because the layout of the shop is weird, the atmosphere is unsettling, and Where are the staff ??? walking though the stories i saw not one staff member, no one at the cash registers, there was only one worker on the final floor, the queue was moving quote slow. I reached the top floor which had a shoe sale okay cool, it was giving ww2 camps vibes tho but Okay i found a nice pair of trainers, wish they were discounted more though. I also got some nice sport shorts, after looking for items in there for ages it was nice to have a view of bham city coz the vibes in the place are not the best. So basicly just go to tk-max because its actually lively and you dont feel like your about to die any moment 💀. They sell shoes, mens womans children's clothes and furniture, and there were probbaly makeup sections but i ran past them.

Oh dear….what a sad and depressing store this is. Already half empty, it has the look and feel of a dying elderly relative, definitely nothing to inspire or encourage me to spend here. Staff member was helpful until I decided I wasn’t buying, at which point she became curt and abrupt. Perhaps this store has seen better days, but if it wants to survive it must do better than this.

Went to this store last week and the lady on the YSL makeup section was just mega rude. Absolutely no customer service. I’m not surprised the stores are closing with arrogant staff. The woman on the till with a headscarf was much nicer and helpful. Won’t be going back to this store.

Awful, horrible, soulless, staff less, toilet less, miserable store. Boxing day sales, everywhere in Birmingham bustling with shoppers and this place had maybe 10 people in there. Can only assume they were lost. It's like where Debenhams went to die. 'Sale' more expensive than anywhere else. Stock limited, looks like all the big brands said you can sell what you've got, then you can never buy from us again. Honestly avoid. If covid was a shop, it would be this one.

What a waste of time, on board it was written clearance on the 4th floor whereas the 4th floor was closed. The rest of the store had only 20% -30% off which is clearly not clearance, what a joke.

Expected a warm welcome - there was none. Expected employees to be attentive - not one single person looked me in the eye let alone ask me if I needed assistance. Extremely disappointed. Would not recommend.

Some staff are useless at best and occasionally very rude. This store is like the one in "Are You Being Served" but without the charm or the politeness. Some need to receive refreshment training in how to smile because a miserable face will put customers off. It's been 'closing' for a couple of years and I often went out of my way to go there and support what should be a City icon but no more after recent rudeness. I guess morale is low but rudeness is inexcusable. Probably better to close it down and start again, this time with a renewed enthusiasm and respect for customers.

This place is terrible. I went in yesterday and got two Nike sports tops - priced at £15 each or 2 for £25. I picked 2 the same and got some other sports clothing - a small pile. However today I just noticed that I was actually charged £20 for each top. I know I should have checked but I was rushing to catch a train. I live 80 miles away so cannot return immediately. Avoid at all costs - unless you enjoy being fleeced. I won't shop at dishonest retailers.

During a recent visit, a lot of lights were off, very limited staff, some areas gave us the feeling we shouldn’t be there. Is this place closing down or undergoing major changes across all floors as we didn’t find it very welcoming. It resembled a ghost town, very weird, sorry but we felt there’s no need to be going back, what a shame…

Massive department store and amazing bargain gems on the top floor! Everything very well organised by sizes making very easy to find!

In spite of the good deals I got at this store, I feel compelled to leave a poor review, as I feel I would be complicit if I didn't stand up against what I experienced when I came into the store last week. As I was browsing, I observed one of your employees becoming very distressed at a customer's behaviour. At the time, another of your helpful employees came over to offer me assistance (which I suspect was partly a distraction technique from what was going on). When I went to pay, it became apparant that more than one of your employees were upset about a customer entering the store and being racist to them, which was supposedly not the first time this has happened. I am shocked that this has reportedly been allowed to keep happening. I certainly don't wish to shop somewhere that allows anyone to treat their staff in this way, so for that reason alone I will not be back. Despite all of this going on, I want to commend your staff for being nothing but lovely to me.

Not sure what was going on there at the moment. The skincare/fragrance floor was completely empty without an assistant in site. Lots of items thrown in sale buckets and looks like they are dismantling part of the store

This used to be my favourite place to shop, very sad that high street shopping has come to this. I feel sorry my grandchildren will never experience the joy and atmosphere of shopping in a large retail store, we do our bit by using the high street and not amazon but alas I feel its too late.

I used to shop here and at other branches fairly often. It's a shadow of it's former self. No staff to be seen, only a few more customers to be bumped into. It's perhaps only a matter of time before this big Birmingham landmark shuts for good.

Not a huge range of variety anymore, and they no longer stock some of the big name brands. Customer service was good, but the refund and exchange policy isn't so great -you do not get a cash refund anymore 😡you can exchange or get a credit note- which i feel is unfair as it is compelling you to spend at the store- not sure how this with consumer rights and having 14 days grace period to change your mind.

I like House of Fraser. It has good products which are often on sale. I wish that more people would shop there as its the only decent department store left in Birmingham. I would hate it to close.

I remember this place when it was Rachams! Always worth a walk round the place and if you want an absolute bargain hit the fifth floor where they are selling of designer stuff at less than half price. Other major tip check out shuropody next to the shoe section - if you really want a pair of comfortable shoes at a good price it's the place to go!

Stumbled upon this outlet store on a day trip and came away with some really fantastic bargains to take back home on the coach. The staff were helpful. There were 20% off on items and then an extra discount on coats/jackets was announced while I was in store, so I got an extra bargain too. There are 5 floors with escalators and lifts and so much choice it's unbelievable. Floor 4 is 'Crazy Prices'.

Went to this store on 3rd November, store was messy, no staff about. They were putting up Christmas decorations that were half up half abandoned on the floor as a trip hazard. Then when I got home found they had over charged me by £12.00. Tried to sort out this issue with their customer service team, but they won't deal with it as an in store purchases, asked to make a formal complaint was told to send via customer service team, which I did only to be told by same customer service agent who told me to send via them, after I sent it that I will not be contacted by anyone regarding my complaint due to data protection which is not a valid or true reason. All complaints should be addressed. They then gave a number to call which I did that left ring for 15 mins before cutting off. Throughly discussed with my experience with house of frazer.

Received such disgusting service here. Won't be going back. Staff talk down to you, patronising, makes you not want to go back. Alleged sale prices are still very expensive. Save your money and go to an actual Outlet Mall. Waste of time going there and they're a waste of space.

Really sad to see it in this state. Mike Ashley may have saved the brand, but he's killed this store. Lifts look like they are about to break down, several clothing items I looked at had holes in them, and those that didn't all seemed to have a different price on them. Bought a pair of jeans that had a £135 sticker on, with 50% off marked price plastered everywhere. The store charged me £80 for them. Then returned them to me in a bag having clearly tried to scratch off the pricing label. When challenged they said, "oh sometimes people put other prices on them to try and get them for less, but we can only honour what it scans at". The same pair of jeans online are currently priced at £125, and in the sale for £65. The place is a shambles, and I won't be returning. Really uncomfortable atmosphere in there, and a sorry state compared with what it used to be like.

Sorry but this store is disgusting. Staff are consistently rude, shop looks disgusting, jewellery boxes when you look inside are a dirty bright Yellow inside. Prices are still absolutely sky high and the only change is 20% off signs in a dirty store? Yuk! Avoid.

I think my nan would roll in her grave if she knew what Rachams has become! Worth a trip there though as it a clearance store now an extra 20% off at the till. I got 3 x inner tubes £13 great!

Most shelves were empty. Some discounts were good, for example on handbags and cosmetics. I wouldn't make a special trip to go there, would only pop in if I am nearby or visiting Bullring as it's right behind.

For a supposedly higher end store, the presentation is awful. I can only compare it to a closing down second-hand store. Hand drawn signs, items just strewn around everywhere. Never saw a single member of staff in the entire time I was there. Signs point you to exits that when you get there, are locked up. High-end prices, low-end presentation, and service.

I discovered this store not long ago, this store has the best shoes 😍 l bought me and my son trainers here. Trust me, there's a lot of good outfits etc in this store. They sell the best quality and affordable stuff. You can find this store in bullring Birmingham.

Michealla provided an exceptional experience. I sampled several sliders, and she not only purchased a couple of different ones for me but also pointed out additional options in the store. I'm sharing this review because such outstanding service is a rarity in most retail establishments, and it deserves recognition.

The men's hairdresser salon was really good value, £10. 50 for my cut and shampoo. I didn't need to make an appointment and was served immediately. I also got a Hugo Boss jumper for my birthday well below the RRP and a Japanese made fine eye brush for my mother. You can get really good value at low prices here. The staff are friendly, however it is beginning to show signs of wear.

Lots of bargains 20% off plus sale price. But nothing like the posh House of Fraiser that I remember. It was more like a jumble sale. The staff were pleasant even though it was very cold inside.

A big store really big with to many big brands in it, offering a lot of opportunities to buy what you looking for, from fragrance to games including sport cloths or some for different occasions. I was surprising to see such a big store on Saturday at noon so empty. I think something should be changed in the future to make the store reliable to keep the business on. Probably a good idea it will be to get rid of 1-2 floors and reinvest a bit in remaining space to make it more attractive.

5th floor closed for good. 4th floor has views of Cathedral Square. Best seen in daylight as after dark impossible to get photos of Christmas in Cathedral Square from above. Is a bit dated inside.

One of the best place for shopping clothes, house decor and cosmetics. House of Fraser is literally a House full of Brands worth shopping. I have visited many shopping places in Birmingham, but I feel like HOF really has great variety of products, trendy clothes. Even right now there’s a Big Brand Clearance going on where you can buy products of big brands at low prices. They also have Christmas decorations.

I went to all the mens stores for a suit! I couldn't find a decent one! I nearly gave up! I then tried Rackhams and, hopefully, I have found a really good one. I think it is anyway. Rackhams! Thank you. 👊🏾

Poor customer service in this store. Waited around 10 minutes to recieve assistance with a purchase. No staff appeared so I had to grab someone from the till. Waited another 10 minutes for the staff member to appear then waited another 5 minutes just to be told they cant sell me the item because they cant find the box. Waste of time.

Items are good but some staff are very rude! The worker giving me dirties at the Calvin Klein department, I was like you good? Couple workers there fall under the same boat

There is never to many people doing shopping here, what is amazing! The sales are always great! One of the best places to do shopping, is usually rare to find queues and the staff is always friend and very helpful. Recently they have this massive sale on the 4th floor, with lots of stuff for home for very good price. As an exemple you can buy branded towels for about 12£. Also pirex containers (the big ones) for 10£. I do recommend!

Young girl serving near Sandwich & Lauren concession was excellent. The store needs repainting & more staff. Mike Ashley not treating people who work for him well

  • 2/5 A R. 2 years ago on Google
The shop is always empty. All the heavily reduced stuff is on the 5th floor but there are no signs to say so. Very few assistants and lot of prices missing from goods. It's a sad place to shop in terms of experience but if you spend the time you can find good stuff at decent prices.

Fantastic stories and amazing staffs! I visited House of Fraser today but I didn't buy anything because I forgot my vouchers at home. There are beautiful bags and shoes, I mean quality stuff!! Immaculate place to shop.
