Sickened by the mannerisms of the lady (Rosie) who answered my telephone phone call this morning; who had completely made a shambles out of my referral. Rosie answered the phone, with an extremely angry tone; explaining that I need to give her a few minutes as she had only just walked in and still had her coat on (baring in mind that I had called at around 9.15am and the phone line opens at 9.00am.) She persisted to be unprofessional, rude and aggressive; not to mention repeatedly coughing down the phone with no apology. Please remember that you're dealing with individuals who are seeking guidance and help; if you can not converse with individuals with politeness, not to mention care (given the line of work that you are involved in) perhaps training or a change in career would be more beneficial. I had finished the call feeling extremely disheartened and upset; that this could jeopardise the help that I was due to receive. I had read the reviews before even contacting this clinic and despite the negativity that I was reading, I was hopeful that I may receive a positive response. I have never left negative feedback on behalf of any body or any place but I am truly unhappy with the way that I have been treated this morning; without even receiving my appointment yet. I hope that this feedback doesn't dishearten others from seeking help; always be persistent, seeking help is strength and not a weakness! Don't let anybody allow you to believe any differently.

After moving to Birmingham I was put under the care of this hospital..I had already seen the shocking reviews. And so far not impressed at all. I was seen by a Phychiatrist and despite being on zopiclone for 20 years was told to just stop. He then issued me natio psychotic meds after ten minutes even though I advised the last time I was on them I had a reaction and set fire to my flat and overdosed. I have been trying to contact them now for 2 months to get a form filled out and all emails being ignored..terrible service. No wonder people give up. I've had enough

My experiences have been with the community mental health team and reception. Patients get treated with no compassion. The receptionists are poorly trained and seem uneducated towards anything regarding mental health. You will be spoken to like you are a non-human. You have to fight to talk to whoever is on duty even if you are blunt about the mental state you are in. The doctors have little to no respect for their patients. You will never be seen on time, they will not remember who you are or attempt to read previous notes. That's if/when you get an appointment. You will get spoken to as if you know nothing about yourself or your struggles or mental health. The CPN's have barely any resources or time, so makes having one redundant. You will never be able to phone and talk to them. My appointments with psychiatrists here have also been an experience from hell. I have since had help from other professionals which has reinforced and validated my feelings and experiences. I had to fight for three years to get referred there by this place, whereas in comparison to the other users there it had been a SIGNIFICANTLY simplier journey. For your own mental well being avoid this place if you can. Your GP will be covered by one of the mental health teams in Birmingham. You can change your GP and get referred to a different place. On a lighter note, the gentleman that takes blood samples here is absolutely amazing.

I would rate this health centre 0 if I could. I call on behalf of an unwell family member, but it is usually me who has a breakdown trying to get help from anyone at Small Heath. The only time I call is in a time of crisis but even then, getting an answer from any of their departments is akin to winning the lottery. I called last Thursday during crisis and it took just over an hour to get through after initially trying the duty line who I needed to speak to, then cycling to reception and the CPN line, spending over 10 minutes on hold for each. I eventually got through to the lady at reception who sent an e-mail to duty and asked me to ring back if I the duty nurse hadn't called back within 30 minutes. After waiting 45 minutes and no call back, I tried reception again and spend over 30 minutes listening to the phone ring out. There is zero duty of care. No one wants to take ownership. You get fobbed off with -I'll e-mail xyz who will call you- but xyz never comes back to you, be it a doctor, doctors secretary, CPN, the duty nurse or the practise manager himself. In his case, it has been over 5 months since I left a message with Gerald's secretary, after chased her many times after to highlight these issues to him but he is so busy, I still haven't heard from him. I've had the misfortune of dealing with incompetence, but the staff including everyone up to the top give incompetence a bad name

Everyone, please find the governing body for mental health professionals and makr a complaint to them it is ok to state your exprience here there will be no disciplinary action on them. If they were a restaurant or a hotel then yes this would be effective. But it is not very effective if you want these people to be dealt with the correct authorities. Thank you all for you honesty and I am sorry to hear your awful exprience here better serviced is deserved.

I give this place 0 out 5 .They never answer the phone (very overworked) when they do the Dr's take weeks to return a call if at all .. Duty crisis Dr Bryan is very rude and confrontational. This place is adding to people's mental Health struggles and should be investigated as to why they are letting people with Mental Health down..cruel beyond words.

I received 2 letters, both identical mentioning a telephone consultation for the 24th June at 14:30. The date I received the letters on was the 25th a day after the appointment date, also why send out the same letter twice. I would like to point out I was left a voicemail on Monday this week(22 June) in which the individual states I have been booked in for a telephone consultation on the 24th June for 2:30pm, she also stated in the same voicemail the appointment was for the 24th and she stated the 24th was next week Thursday which clearly is not the 24th. I did wait on my phone at 2:30 and waited for around half an hour and did not receive a call.

How is this place even open )and eating tax payers money?) They don’t even answer their phones. I’ve tried calling on behalf of a mental health patient who I’ve recently got power of attourney for and these guys don’t even answer the phone. This place needs to be shut down and this sector needs serious overhaul

I would not rate rate this health centre 1. This place has no compassion it’s all about numbers to them, the more mental health patients they get the better for them. This place has no loyalty to the community or duty of care to the patients who are sick and under their care. It’s absolutely disturbing and appalling. I called for a family member, but it is usually me who has a breakdown trying to get help from anyone at Small Heath. I call only in a time of crisis but even then, getting an answer from any of their departments is a amazing but of course it does not happen. Not organised No empathy No work ethic Selfish No care in the world Absolutely a disgrace Making family chase and give them anxiety attacks because of lack of duty for crisis patients

Went to my psychiatrist who was disinterested as he was passing me on to a new team. Prescribed meds which I am still waitin for over a month later! If it wasn’t for my partner I don’t think I would have been heard or treated!! He was very dismissive
