A pure unaltered nature awaits you here where serenity meets calmness. Depending on the hike you choose, It is a trek of around 5 to 7 Kms from the station. There are even longer trek routs depending on time and stamina you have. You can get a trekking rout map at the station. While going up we found it quite stiff, trekking sticks can be useful here for down and up.The water is so still and crystal clear that you see the reflection of the surrounding valley. You can rent a boat here too. We hiked down through the mountain roads all the way up from Äscher which I would not recommend if you don’t have a walking stick with you. Please choose the route depending on your fitness level as we found one route quite slippery while returning to the car park. There is nice restaurant nearby and also a small farm shop selling milk and cheese. During summer months famines can also do their own bbq around the lake.

This is one of my favourite places for hiking. The view is amazing, you have forest, waterfalls, mountains, flowers, and the lake. You can hike up to Ebenalp and come down with the cable car, or the other way around. This is a must.

Stunning in automn when you have a bright blue sky. From the parking, used the cable car to Ebenalp, on the way down you can stop at Wildkirchly and the restaurant under the cliff. The walk continues down to Seealpsee

Amazing place! Accessible by couple of hiking trails. I would recommend you start next to the Ebenalp train station and go up the trail in the mountain and back the other trail. The mountain trail starts a bit steep and then goes blissful and easy, and is far more worth it with its views and scenery than the paved trail which is just a long very steep upward walk. You can also surely go back the same way you went. The place promises amazing sights and awe pictures are guaranteed! The walk take between 1h to 1h30min depending on your pace and stops for pics :)

Sehr schönes Fleckchen Natur! Der See wahnsinnig schön - wie im Bilderbuch! Man kann auch im See baden. Sehr angenehm und erfrischend nach dem anstrengenden Aufstieg. Lohnt sich definitiv, aber der Aufstieg ist steil und hat es in sich (Laufzeit kurzer Weg ca. 1h, dreiviertel des Weges steil). Trotz Asphalt braucht man gutes Schuhwerk (nein, Badeschlappen gehören nicht dazu) und auch gute Kondition. Wasser nicht vergessen und genug einpacken! Wir haben leider vorher kaum Bilder oder eine realistische Beschreibung der Steigung gefunden. Überall hieß es meist leichter Wanderweg - würde ich so nicht unterschreiben (deswegen stelle ich ein paar ein, die aber auch nur bedingt die Steigung zeigen). Wie gesagt, der See lohnt sich, einfach MEGA, aber bitte Aufstieg nicht unterschätzen bzw drauf einstellen. ;) Ach und noch was: am Wochenende ist seeehr viel los. Entweder zwischen der Woche kommen oder früh am Wochenende vor 10.00 Uhr. Parkplätze sind genug vorhanden. Parkgebühr pro Tag 5.- Sfr. Automat nimmt nur Münzen oder Zahlung per App.

Wunderschöner Bergsee, auch wenn wir Pech mit dem Wetter hatten. Der Aufstieg am Anfang ist nicht ganz einfach, aber man wird mit einer tollen Aussicht belohnt.

Easily one of the most beautiful hikes I've ever made. If you make it all the way, there's a restaurant that you can make a stop in to grab some food.

Stunning. The view is worth walking couple of miles. I've done the circle route. The path from the restaurant placed above is not easy, especially when it's wet. But the lake view is amazing. You can feel the majestic Alps around.

Seealpsee is a beutiful lake in Alpstein region surrounded by beutiful mountains. The lake can be reached with a relatively easy stroll from Wasserauen. If you arrive by car you can park there but keep in mind the place gets very busy from early hours. It is a very popular hiking destination in summer months. If you are at the lake, you can walk it around or continue to your journey towards peaks like Schäfler, Säntis, Ebenalp, Mesmer. I love this place and I highly reccommend it to visit if you are staying in Appenzell region.

Simply beautiful. The hike to get there was a bit demanding but because of that it felt even better when you get to the lake.

Very picturesque and peaceful! A balm for the soul. The walk to the top is quite strenuous and you should take breaks in between, but once you get there you will be rewarded with a beautiful view! There is a restaurant right by the lake where you can order food and drinks.

The route was not suitable with our 16 months old son. It was extremely steep and tough for all, no appropriate stops. The lake is nice but there are many other lakes nucer than this. I can't decribe it as a WOW.

This is a beautiful lake that's heavily trafficked by people, especially in summer. There are two ways to reach the lake - a paved road to the right as you start or a mountain trail to the left as you start (through the cow field). DO NOT use the mountain trail to climb up. It's very well shaded which is great, but it's INCREDIBLY steep and goes way higher than the lake only to descend back down. The paved road is still steep and sunnier, but MUCH more direct and you don't go higher than necessary. Return down the mountain road if you'd like but not going up. At the lake you'll find a couple of restaurants and restrooms. You can swim in the lake of you can deal with its chill!

This view is worth for the one hour hike. Mountains lake and fog. The weather was perfect for hiking. Cow bells fresh cheese nature, switzerland in one frame.

So so so beautiful, if you love natural, don’t miss this place . I have been here with my 4 and half and 3 years old kids . Of course it took longer time but they couldn’t do it . Not so difficult for kids . It was a beautiful family time here ❤️❤️❤️ I even was thinking to come back again and again 🥰 We also can swim here , don’t forget to bring your swimsuit 😉
