This place is awesome, we had a private tour , and man if I could give this place 10 stars i would do it, this for us was the best excursion of our vacation. This is a place you NEED TO GO. I could spend a whole story of this place but you need to experience this yourself.

This is a wonderful natural attraction consisting of a cascade of waterfalls and a pristine mountain stream all surrounded by a spectacular tropical landscape. It took me about 1.5 hours to drive to the falls area from Negril often on difficult roads but it was well worth the time and effort. The entrance fee is reasonable and the tour guides are knowledgeable and helpful. My guide Byron was particularly courteous and professional. These falls are a must see for tourists that enjoy nature and picturesque scenery. There are well maintained change rooms and washrooms available. The water is clean and refreshing for bathing.

Mayfield Falls About 30 km /1hour 15 from Negril at Little London through the Cockpit Country and the SugarCane fields up one of the countless Cockpit Country Mountain bump uphill. Be sure to bring good navigation with you. Sometimes it’s like…. Is this really the route. Adventurous. There are at least 3 different tour guides: The Original, Chukka and Reggae Mayfield Falls tour Chukka and Reggae are a tiny stand next to the road, these offer another part of the waterfall. It is a wonderful adventure experience. Climbing on waterfalls through the jungle. The freshwater is cool and very refreshing. It’s a wet experience, watershoes, swimminggear, underwaterhouse for the camera or phone. You can jump into deep water holes. Hide in secret places underneath the waterfall or get romantic. Our tour guide was Dave. We drove our own car, 20$ petrol and 70$ for 2 adults, 1 child. Resorts charge 120$ pp.

Jerome was our guide for this tour, and honestly…as beautiful and amazing the falls and surrounding scenery is, Jerome made it better by 100%. He was funny, knowledgeable and great with video and pics when we handed him our phone. I am so glad we experienced these falls, and IMHO it was Jerome that made the whole adventure worth while!!

This mineral falls is tucked away in the mountains of Petersfield. It was not crowded and is a guided tour. There is no need for suncream as it's shaded by the bamboo canopy with patches of sunlight coming through. Note suncream is not encouraged it affects the ecosystem in the water. Our guide Andray was super knowledgeable about the area and gave us opportunities to get involved with nature. Thank you. We were stuck due to car trouble and the staff Deon, Jerome, Veral and Zukie, all made us feel at home and secure. We played dominoes and enjoyed the scenery. Well worth the visit. Thank you for a lovely day and bonus it rained in other areas but not at our beautiful Mayfield falls. Nuff love xxx

You have to go to the original. Same place, different entrance. But this, the Original, is community run. About $25pp, $5 locker rental. Required tour guide. They work strictly on tips.

I had a fantastic day, our guide Shane was awesome! Very knowledgeable of the space around him. Great photographer and personality. I ordered the coconut shrimp meal for after the hike. It was 20usd and honestly I had one Bite and thought it was the best coconut shrimp I ever had, until I saw a cockroach, which freaked me out. It was pretty large so I picked it out and then saw another small one. I must say I was pretty grossed out but I figured, hey, the cook outside and were in a jungle, no big deal. However I continued sifting through it just to make sure and I actually ended up pulling out 13 cockroaches. That was enough to ruin the entire meal. Was really disappointed because the one bite did taste good, I think 1 or 2 would be normal or OK, but 13, I mean, are we adding those in for protein at this point ?

The tour up the waterfall was great. $25 entry with guide. Can buy food and drink at the location. Toilet facilitties, parking, few wood work items for sale. Hardly any tourists, which created a better experience, just as good as Dunnes River. We drove their in a rental. Swim shows required can either rent or buy at the location. A local biker girl showed us the best way their and back without asking. Also provided a pavillion adventure through the jungle.

Mayfield Falls in Jamaica offers a refreshing and immersive experience for nature enthusiasts. The original Mayfield Falls, nestled in the lush Jamaican countryside, captivates visitors with its pristine beauty. The journey begins with a guided trek through tropical foliage, where the vibrant flora and fauna create a picturesque backdrop. The guides, well-versed in local ecology, enhance the excursion with insightful commentary. Upon reaching the falls, visitors encounter a series of terraced cascades and pools. The cool, crystal-clear water with a blue hue provides a rejuvenating escape from the tropical heat. One of the highlights is the natural massage offered by the cascading water, creating a unique and invigorating sensation. Adventurous souls can navigate through the various tiers, each unveiling a different facet of the falls' charm. Mayfield Falls also stands out for its commitment to sustainability, maintaining a harmonious relationship with the environment. The serene surroundings and the soothing sounds of rushing water contribute to a tranquil ambiance, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. While the original Mayfield Falls may lack the commercialization of more popular attractions, its unspoiled charm and ecological integrity make it a hidden gem worth exploring for those seeking an authentic and immersive nature experience in Jamaica.

One of the best experiences we had on our vacation!! The falls were beautiful and peaceful, tucked away in an isolated slice of the forest. Our tour guide, Dave, did a phenomenal job of taking us through the falls, while capturing stunning photos of nature and our family using my personal camera. We felt safe the whole time there, and would recommend going here over Dunn’s River Falls (we did both) if you are looking for a more personalized experience. We drove a rental car there from the north, and we STRONGLY recommend to not use the roads north of the falls because they are rugged, unpaved, and in some parts dangerous. Hire a driver for this or drive up from the south.

Had a great experience here. My guide Dave was amazing and made the experience very enjoyable. Would highly recommend coming here! Food was delicious as well, and they have a very talented wood carver on site that does beautiful work.

My wife and I brought our ten and eight year old daughters here to show them some of the real Jamaica, off the resort. Mayfield Falls did not disappoint. First of all the mineral springs are stunning, and we’ve been to Dunns River Falls before, it wasn’t even close. This experience is amazing. These springs were refreshing and crystal clear. The hike was layers and layers of beautiful falls, swimming, and rock jumping, swimming through a cave, and all surrounded by lush green trees and plants. No need for suntan lotions here. The best part was Zukie our tour guide, he was absolutely outstanding. He showed us all the different plants and explained how they’re used, let us try them ourselves. He took pictures of our family the whole time while casually serenading us all along the hike. We even had a limestone rub treatment right in the springs. My kids learned so much and we all enjoyed it more than everything at the resort. If you’re in Negril and considering this trip, do it! You won’t regret it. Ask for Zukie!

This place was beautiful! Less crowded than duns river and the people were so nice. The food was great and they gave great information about the land and people. The trip inland and up into the mountains was so scenic.

Incredible and so much fun. You walk up through the beautiful falls swimming on the way. Our experience was spoiled a bit by our guide, Byron who made it very clear from the beginning that the price of $20 each was not enough and he would require a large tip at the end . After telling my son and son in law the $20 they gave him wasn’t enough I also unknowingly gave him another $20. The tour was maximum an hour and very easy to navigate and we would have been more comfortable doing it ourselves . That said don’t be put off going because it’s a wonderful experience !

Never go to this place! There are horrible sad people waiting for you in the front entrance. You need to pay 20 dollars, but thats not all, you also need to take one of the aggressive guides. If you dont want they say " you might get some trouble with us" I said oke... Its better not to go to this place and not support them. Time for the government of Jamaica to take action. ;) but remember they are poor and the can nothing do about their sad behaviour.

Excellent experience! I went with a large group and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly. There was not a dull moment as we dived into pools, swam through underwater tunnels, went behind waterfalls and covered ourselves in limestone for a spa experience. My elderly mother was with us and she got a personalized spa treatment as she could not manage the trek up river. The guides were patient and extremely helpful. They took many photos and videos that thoroughly captured the experience. The food was good as well. Highly recommended.

An amazing place. Super good vibe ! Worth the visit. Loved the falls and the scenery. One of those hidden places Jamaica has to offered... Come and enjoy the refreshing and energizing sweet water. Dozens of natural jacuzzis with the power of the falls to get an amazing massage:) in head, back and shoulders. Jamaica in its best expression !

Loved walking the river bed and seeing so many spots of rushing water. Crystal clear water and in some spots the water was a beautiful blue color and deep enough to jump right in. Our guides were very informative about all the vegetation around us and very gentle funny guys. They used our waterproof camera and took all our images for us and didn't act like it was a nuisance. I brought 4 couples with us to Negril and chose this excursion for us and everyone said it was the most amazing day of their lives. I highly recommend Mayfield Falls to anyone.

The waterfalls are really an experience. You get a real tour here (also required) and hike up the river for about an hour. The guides took a lot of time to take photos, ask questions and ensure that everyone got through the water safely. Tip: take water shoes with you! You won't get very far here without it. Admission pp. $25 Water shoes rental $7 It can be paid by card but there is a $4 fee And don't forget to tip the guide! The only negative point is that there was always rubbish to be found here. You should try to keep the river clean when you go on tours here.

Had an amazing trek with Lester up the falls. He was knowledgeable safe and so engaged with everyone in the group- both adults and kids! It felt like most of the trek we had the entire river to ourselves! So much better than some other tourist traps around- just takes a bit of extra effort to get here! Ask for Lester if you make it!

An absolute must. The tour was wonderful and our guide was super friendly and helpful. Certainly one of the most beautiful excursions in Jamaica. We ordered food before the tour. This is also recommended. Delicious. A great experience ❤️

Jerome was you’re such a great guide. He made the our experience nicer than I expected. He took our pictures and videos on our phone. Spoke history about the falls. Answered questions about random things that we ask. The water falls has an obstacle course that makes the experience nice. A secret diving hole, clay scrubbing area, area to dive (when water is at the appropriate level), and so much more. Ask for Jerome.

Very impressive and enchanting, far away from the tourist path. The road there is a bit bumpy but it was the most beautiful tour I've ever done. Our guide Lester was great. We sang and he explained to us everything about the flora of Jamaica. We also received a healing treatment with healing clay, which leaves skin velvety soft. Be sure to order something to eat afterwards when you buy your ticket. You come back hungry and it's tasty and cheap.

Great experience, spent at least 45 mins going up the river, several places to take a swim and pictures. The guide was very helpful. Once of the party does not swim but was able to follow the route on a foot path (small section in the water but not higher than knees). The roads to the location were quite back (coming from the centre of Negril) but we had great fun when there. Well worth the money.

Water level was a bit low so not as dramatic but made walk up better. Use guides for sure as they know cool bits. 1.5hrs from negril and montego bay.

This was so amazing! Lester, Shane and jay were our guides. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. We had a group of 20, from teens to 65+ years old and the guides took great care to help everyone. I love that all the money made stays in the village. If you are in Jamaica, go to mayfield falls!

We had a tour today. It was lovely, tourguide Andray really helped us well while going through the river and waterfalls. He gave us all the time we needed and explained a lot about the nature and Made us experience the tour in a very interactive way (jacuzzi spots in the waterfall and making nice pictures of us). Afterwards we had coconut chicken which was really good. Highly recommend!!!

This is a truly hidden gem in Jamaica. Not as touristic as YS Falls but certainly worth the visit. We came here with 4 on a weekday in early June. Entrance is 20 Us$ including a guided tour, with our perfect hosts Andray and Jerome. They guided us with such patience and fun and laughter, through the heavily roaring river and chose the perfect spots for pictures and a dip. The nature is so beautiful and pieceful here, could spend all day here. We ordered our food before the tour started, and this was really the best food we've had in 14 days Jamaica! We had the pineapple chicken and the curry chicken. The curry chicken was voted most favorite by all of us and we even ordered an extra portion for the road. Together with some freshly cut coconuts... 😋 We also bought a beautiful carved piece to take home from "Dr. Carve". Thank you Andray and Jerome and all others at Mayfield Falls Original. If we ever come back to Jamaica again, we will certainly come back to you again.

DAVE is the best tour guide I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing an excursion with. Gave us tons of information about the local wildlife and fauna throughout the trip! He definitely knows the area like the back of his hand and ALWAYS helps everyone make it through the tougher areas in the falls. Great photo taker as well for our group ;) Highly recommend checking out the Mayfield falls, one of the best spots in Jamaica and less spring breakers and tourists than other hotspots around. 11/10 stars all the way through and I’m coming back next time I’m in Jamaica! YEAH MON!

Beautiful place to walk in the forest and enjoy the water. The walk down is very quick and easy, can be done with kids. They give you a guide which is very nice. It is free but they’d expect a tip. Entrance was $20/adult and $12 /kid

  • 2/5 George S. 1 year ago on Google
Deceptive pricing, yes it’s $20 to get ‘in’ but then you need to pay again for an aggressive panhandler posing as a guide. Why don’t they just have transparent pricing at $30 per person guide included and skip the panhandling.

Truly one of the most beautiful trips I have ever taken. Hiking up the river and enjoying the water in all its facets as well as the jungle of Jamaica was indescribably beautiful. A big thank you at this point to our guide Lester.
