Our group of four and a baby went here for breakfast/lunch on a late Sunday morning, around 11 am. They were extremely busy with about a 25 minute wait. Since we weren’t allowed to wait inside, we ventured over to nearby Squires Student center to stay warm on this freezing March day. Once seated, we were still pretty chilly as our table was right by the door, allowing the cold wind to blow right in. Our server was friendly and attentive. We had the Chappy’s Choice and Gillies Special entrees with a side of a stack of pancakes. The food came out piping hot and very good. The biscuits were a bit cold, though. And, the coffee could have been a bit warmer. Overall, a good experience and we’ll be back.

Amazing vegan options! The staff are incredibly knowledgeable about what is vegan friendly and how to modify things. The food goes beyond typical uses of tofu and gets so creative! My “chicken” tofu tasted just like the real thing, and I was in love with the peanut tofu wrap.

Great place to eat breakfast with family and friends! We've eaten here a number of times when visiting Blacksburg and have enjoyed it every time. The mix of flavors and options both taste great and present well too. Note that the menu does not contain meat, but that's never bothered us even though we're regular breakfast meat eaters. The atmosphere is very relaxed, always busy - a little loud if that matters to you. Overall, a great spot to eat and enjoy time together.

Great restaurant with a fun atmosphere. Loads of very good vegetarian options and some tasty desserts too. Recommend getting there at happy hour to take advantage of some great specials and then having a nice dinner to follow. Currently 4-stars as wait staff was a bit hard to find the night we went which was surprising as it was not busy but the food pretty much made up for it and would definitely go back.

One of the best restaurants I have ever been! This is small family restaurant from 1974 and you can see the son of the owner cooking for you in the kitchen! The staff is very friendly and nice! The food..., crazy delicious. Need to try! P.S. And the best thing is that it is 100% vegetarian!

Really disappointed. Was looking forward to a good pancake however it was dry, salty and bland. DO NOT GET THE PANCAKES! The syrup didn’t help either considering it was bland as well. It tasted like water and water only. The potatoes were good though I’ve had better. What I recommend for good potatoes and pancakes is the garbage plate from thunderbirds cafe. If you have a chance go. The picture below is of all the stuff I had to add to the pancake (syrup, jam, blueberries) to make it edible and even then it was hard to eat.

It was the first home game day so they were busy, but the hostess was curt and when we did get seated she pointed to our table and we weren’t given any menus for about 5 minutes. I was sad to hear they were out of biscuits so I ordered pancakes. Hands down the driest and hardest pancakes I’ve had in my time on earth. Butter and syrup couldn’t help them. So bad. I would have sent them back and allowed them the chance to make them palatable but they didn’t come check after food delivery if everything was okay. My partner had a delicious omelet with potatoes and toast and was in seventh Heaven. Cute place, I’d try it again but avoid the pancakes.

A pescatarian place with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options as well with a great location right on the edge of the Tech campus and Main Street. One of my go to places when back in town whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Note: hours listed on Google are wrong, they're currently closed on Mondays and Tuesdays

I absolutely love this place! The food is hearty and healthy! It has a vintage and jazzy atmosphere that's welcoming and comforting! Delicious food, good portions, but the customer service can be lagging at times. Gillies should be shared across America! If the customer service improves with obvious top notch food, this place will surely be a 5 star restaurant!

Visiting my daughter at VT. This is a family owned restaurant. Food is great, services was friendly. Love the Spanish Frittata.

This is the only place in the area I have been able to find delicious vegan brunch/breakfast options! The food is always delicious, the staff are kind, and it's a cool atmosphere.

My only complaint was that the coffee was horrible. It looked like Tea in color and it was lukewarm at best. Coffee is an important component to a wonderful breakfast. Here… it killed it for me. Staff was a kind young woman, we all enjoyed.

We were seated immediately when arriving for dinner. The appetizer to start off was potato cakes served with dill ranch dressing. It was fantastic, the potato cakes melted in my mouth while the creamy ranch added smooth flavor. I wanted more of the dill ranch for my main course! I ordered the salmon burger and asked for chips and salsa over the other choice "coleslaw". The salmon was robust with juicy flavors by itself, but I added sriracha for a kick. I had to also add the dill ranch to the burger because it's amazing!! We finished with dessert by ordering espresso hazelnut cheesecake. It tasted great! Not to rich and you could taste the espresso though out each bite. The server was very attentive and informed us of all the specials before we ordered. I had a great experience at Gillie's. I would highly recommend this place to a friend.
