Ein wunderschönes historischer Windschutz der Mal etwas neue Farbe vertragen könnte. man kann aber Klasse die Sonne genießen und das Treiben im Hafen beobachten

The Paravang is a very beautiful remainder from the late 19th century, Belle-Époque era. It's a piece of art, really ❤️ Very beautiful details. You can sit at both sides of the glass depending where on the wind's direction. I've been knowing it all my life and am very glad that it survived time.

This paravang is a windbreak with benches from 1908, with a view of the marina and the Leopold Park. The name comes from the French 'paravent' (windbreak). This graceful neo-Gothic building from the Belle Époque period looks a bit oriental and is reminiscent of the time when the seaside resort was still visited by the 'affluent' class - you can see the atmosphere of that period. The roof shines in the sun, and when I get close I see that it is all glazed roof tiles. But... unfortunately this beautiful Art Nouveau element has been scandalously neglected. A few more years without maintenance, and there will be nothing left. The metal parts are already so affected by rust that a simple paint job is no longer sufficient. According to Wikipedia, the paravang was completely restored in 2002. I also painted my house that year, but that really had to be done again every few years! No, Zeebrugge, I would just leave out placing a photo on the brochures to attract tourists to the paravang..... Photos: G.J. Koppenaal - 4/10/2023.
