Absolute gem of a small museum in Bloemfontein. If you enjoy historical architecture and SA history in general, the house, the items in it, and the fantastically presented tour are an absolute must-see.

Wonderful to see the architecture of John Edwin Harrison. The house consists of mainly Edwardian style artifacts, tastefully decorated and beautiful wooden floors! a Must visit when in Bloemfontein

Excellent. The knowledge of this curator is unbelievable. The place is spotless clean, showing you her care. The same with the garden. The lifestyle of the Edwardian period , 1897, can be strongly noticed. The bricks was hand made and can be clearly noticed. Harrison was a very good architect and builder. The most amazing to me was the original items as use by the owners , still in place as used. Well kept history

Shani is a star. She is knowledgeable and very friendly. She enjoys her work and she values the momentos of the Harrison family. It is a place that every Bloemfontein citizen and others, must visit. The garden is peaceful and lovely.

I was here 9 years ago (without the tour) and again today. We were welcomed by Shani, she showed us around and explained everything in the house with much gumption and passion. Thank you Shani! We enjoyed the tour and our Bloemfontein’s heritage. We really hope curators like you and Pulane keep up the wonderful work you are doing!

I such such a lovely afternoon here. The tour guides were entertaining and well informed. They really brought the history alive. Entrance was only R5.00. The website is accurate and the museum is in beautiful condition. I really would love to see the museum expand to include a tea garden in their beautiful garden. Such a gem of a place. Congratulations on the fantastic work done to restore and maintain this place.

A visit by an incredibly passionate guide with whom we exchanged, discussed, shared….. for a simple visit I discovered an art of living, a kindness which takes us from a simple visit to an immersion in another century !! 1000 thanks to Shoni. Visit not to be missed!!!!!

The Freshford house was very interesting to visit. The gentleman who took us on the tour through the house explained and gave interesting historical facts in all the rooms. It would be amazing if the municipality could look after all the historical buildings to enjoy.

I loved visiting and going back in time. So very beautiful and to think of everything they had in the kitchen. Every imaginable gadget that we have today but designed for a coal or wood burning stove in that time. Love it. Absolutely worth a visit!!!

Enjoyed the tour yesterday through Freshford House Museum. Not my first time. Thats how much I love the old places. Our tour guide Shani is so informative. She is really passionate about her work there. After taking us through the house and explaining everything in such detail you really get the feeling of how the people lived in those days in places like that. Obviously it was for the more privileged people of that period. But wow, so interesting. We also walked through the English country garden which is cared for with so much love. She told us to smell the roses and boy I have never smelt roses like that before. Thank you Shani and Aphavia for taking such good care of Freshford and its visitors.
