Couldn't find the beginning to the yellow trail but eventually crossed over to it using a path that connects trails. Beautiful hike! Up and down hills. Really got a workout! Brought my two kids - 7&9 they had no problems.

Always a good time at this park. Is there an easier way to access the picnic area, other than hiking in from points south? The eastern entrance by the park headquarters is accessible from Gun Mill Road. Gun Mill is listed as a private road. You have this lovely picnic area, which canno tbe enjoyed by all.

Decent hike, and great place to take your dog(s). It was nice that they had a picnic table at the summit! We took the yellow and blue blaze trails which had a nice vista and a lake. Not too challenging, so would be fine for the kids and beginners. Plenty of parking, and there's a porta-potty and trash can.

Fabulous park. I can't believe we've never come here. The parking lot was super packed and the trails were not. Plenty of room for everyone and loads of options and difficulties. Good for family fun also. Many great hikes of various difficulty levels

Worst state park in CT. The road through the park is blocked in the middle. Good side entrance and section is reserved for park management use while the terrible huge pot holes side is for public use.

Beautiful scenery and great for hiking. My friends and I have a tradition of coming here every year during the summer for a picnic and we come to this same place every time. Definitely the best park in the state.

Beautiful place to hike, picnic or even pick a spot and read a book. Away from the city yet very easily accessible.

I hadn't really hiked before so this was my first time and it was an awesome experience. The trail was a great distance for anyone looking to start out and was long enough to be a challenge and get a great workout. I definitely recommend for anyone looking to enjoy nature while getting some cardio.

Lovely spot for some decent hikes. But was very buggy when we were there. It had rained recently but I recommend bringing bug spray for sure. Bunch of trails that are on All Trails Map too.

Quiet and secluded. Restrooms are impeccable. Plenty of trees and grass. Great for dogs and children. Adults can have a good time too.

Watch out for Wild animals. Perfect for a nice peaceful walk. Not heavily trafficked.

Potentially nice park but there are no trail maps or signs and the main path that is adjacent to a lake has some trip hazards due to drains that stick odly out of the ground. Hard to recommend this place for a run or bike, but fine for a walk.

Having recently taking up hiking, we visited Penwood State Park. The trail is nice. There are a few off trails, but since this was our first time we stayed on the Inner trail. We did see quite a few people and we started around 8am. The trail around is about 11 miles, but we only walked about 3.

Pinewood has been my backyard for my entire life and the trails have great views. If you are looking for a nice walk through the woods with some hills for cardio, this is the place to go! There is a cool pond at the top of the trail. Check it out! I love it! Great place to ride a mountain bike too!

😐 The park is alright. The baseball field is great and you can ball soccer on it. I played soccer there for the past 2 years under the floor lights. The lights combes on about an half hour before sunset which is good for those who wants to play at night but they do turn off about 10bish. The tennis co...

👍👍 11.6.21 Early morning and the 1st lot was full so drove to the MDC employee parking lot and started the walk from there. Porta potties at both parking lots. The trail is easy to follow. Several folks walk just the paved trail. But the approximate 3 mile loop is a mix of in the woods and around the R...
