The place was lively. Bartenders were very attentive. The menu had some great offerings. I decided to stay with a burger and fries. Would definetly go back.

~New review for new times~ TLDR: Drinks and food are great, people are fantastic, wait times when they're absolutely slammed at times can be bad. This place is worth your time and every penny spent! Manager Dave is one of the best things to happen to this place. Constant delicious weekly food specials, creative craft cocktails with emphasis on the craft and creativity, new food menu pricing and changes that just make things so much better. (The side of mac and cheese is low key the best value) Bartenders are all masters at their job and will provide you with the best drinks in NNJ. There's never any trouble or fights, constantly comfy fun vibes.

Beers were good. Food was average. It’s pretty hard to mess up fries but they managed to. Mine were soggy, room temp and lacked salt. The ones on my wife’s plate were extra greasy and salty. The burger rolls are awful- like bread that’s 3 days old and wasn’t even good to start with. Go to Arthur’s, order a burger and see what a pub food burger should be. Also if the server doesn’t want to write the order down, full respect, but perhaps it would help with the little details like when I asked for no onions and got a bunch of them. $60 for 2 burgers and 2 drinks I expect to leave 100% happy. Not returning.

Always a good idea to visit River of Beer. The food is great, they have an excellent selection of beers, and the staff is friendly. The real star of the show is their outdoor river side dining setup. It is truly lovely. Their restaurant is also beautiful and very clean, but I'm counting down to the outside dining days. We are never disappointed with this place.

Love the bartenders here. Suggested cocktails and wings were delicious (light sweetness) w/maple. Atmosphere is upbeat and perfect on a pre summer day

A hidden gem In the middle of Bloomingdale, NJ. Fantastic tasting food and friendly service. The Gobblers appetizer should be illegal it was so good. Fred’s Dip and the Jersey burger were just as good. All well prepared food with great flavor. The garlic Parmesan fries were absolutely crazy good! This restaurant/bar is right across from the post office and can be easily missed. A very nice outdoor dining area. Highly recommend for there great tasting food and service.

I haven't been here in years and was excited to bring friends to try this place. Located on the Main Street in what was an older house. Small but intimate space. Our server was slow with service and pretty sure he forgot my drink at one point. Took awhile for him to bring us our check and then we waited for him to come get it, but that took awhile that I finally brought it up to him as he was just standing at the bar. The main dishes were underwhelming which was disappointing because in the past I remember being so good! I raved about the spaghetti squash to my husband on the way there and when I got it there was way too much feta on it and it just wasn't the same. My friend was disappointed with the bourbon street sandwich and said it lacked the Cajun seasoning as stated in the description. My other friend got the pulled pork and said it was just okay and didn't finish it. My husband was the only one to finish his meal and seemed satisfied. Fries don't come with any of the burgers or sandwiches and are an additional cost. Also, soda is $5 per soda. My friend had two sodas and paid $10 which we all agreed was wild. If we were to return to this establishment it would be for appetizers as we all loved the gobblers, the wings could have used a little more sauce but were cooked well. Burgers also seem to be the better options as entrees.

Excellent music, good beer, hummus made in house, huge outdoor seating with live music, trivia, and bingo throughout the week! Right by the water, dog friendly, and they were very sweet to the pup. Absolutely will recommend and come back!

We had a great little table next to the river. Entire staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Great drink selection, beer and cocktails. Food was delicious.

This is a hidden gem for outdoor dining. Great setting although service was lacking. Maybe it was because of the holiday weekend but we had to remind the staff that we were there in order to get service...same for the table next to us. But the ambiance and food helped make up for it. I would recommend this place for the outdoor experience.

This place is pretty good. Quite refreshing to have a local Pub that has an equal number of men and women guests. Not naming any place in particular lol, but the Bar in Butler is closed now, So having the option to visit River of Beer is a breath of fresh air.

This is a great spot with a great selection of beers 🍻. Two really nice bars as well, one on the first floor and the other upstairs. In addition to a great beer selection, they have some really good food. The food is pretty basic bar food but done really well. Shared wings and empanadas with my friends and we all thought the food was really good. Will definitely be trying to go back more often. This is also a neat location generally speaking in the little "downtown" area of Bloomingdale, NJ.

Came here on Trivia game night and they had outdoor seating which was a plus right away. The beer list was pretty good as I had two different kinds of stouts. Wings were really good, I would recommend the dry rub for flavor. I had the butternut spaghetti which was good and my girl had a burger which she enjoyed. Overall everything was good and I would definitely recommend a night here if in the area.

One of the best outdoor dining restaurants in the area. They have a beautiful river side outdoor dining area, with an additional tent to sit under during the warmer months. They also have a fire pit with communal seating that is open year round. Owner and staff are very friendly, and they are dog friendly outside. Food is always good, and they have a decent sized tap list as well

Great service and staff, menu is limited but decent. The beer list is very good, mostly regional, and they also make good cocktails with an well curated list. The bar is small, but intimate and there is a second floor and outdoor space.

I've been there 3 times now. They have amazing burgers and food selections. Very high-quality bar food. The service is very fast and efficient. Would definitely recommend 👌.

My absolute favorite hometown bar! Good selection of rotating taps, and creative seasonal cocktails. The food here is all excellent - I will always come back for a Whiskey Maple Burger or and order of gobblers. But the real stars are the staff - awesome bartenders across the board!

River is a fantastic pub. The beer list always has something fantastic on it, the bartenders make great mixed drinks, and the food is wonderful. I'd love to know what's in River Sauce because it's out of this world. The fries are absolutely top notch, too. By the way - provolone sticks are life changing. You never notice how boring fired Mozzarella is until you fry some other kind of cheese.

Wow. This place did not disappoint! Beer was amazing. We had the black bean balls, French onion soup, and hummus platter. All was delicious and atmosphere and service were both excellent…would highly recommend!

I live around the corner from here and we come here a lot for dinner and drinks. The outside area is awesome. Recently, I hosted a 40 person party here which was amazing. I worked with Nancy for months to plan it and she is wonderful. Tyler was our server and he killed it. Attentive and quick and was stellar the whole evening. Food and drinks are always a hit. Can't wait to come back

Our first time here, was highly recommended by a friend who said it was their favorite. Excellent burger, had the Rodeo burger, it was delicious and perfectly done and great beer Brix City Set Break IPA & Toms River Boots on the Ground. Very friendly service from Dave who suggested I try the Brix City. We sat in the bar as it was too hot for us outside but maybe next time, it looked really pretty out by the river. So many beer choices I want to try them all.

First time there tonight! Loved everything about it! Great food, friendly staff and owners. We sat outside with our mini beagle puppy. Great atmosphere and beer list! We will definitely be back!!!

The food here is delicious and a really good selection of beer. Very happy with my dine in experience. Staff was super friendly and attentive. They have a patio but it was too hot to eat outside. They have a brunch menu on Sunday. We arrived at 1215pm. I had wings and the Spaghetti Squash that had feta, balsamic vinaigrette, tomatoes, pesto, and olive oil. Absolutely delicious. So glad I found this place.

Understaffed - serves all bar food but no ketchup, salt, or pepper on the table. Don’t advertise cocktail prices (a sign that they are overpriced) no toilet paper, I mean the list goes on. Needs to choose between a dive bar and a restaurant. can’t be both unless you have fast service lol

I'm really rooting for this place as it is my town and gastropubs are my go-to for dining out. It just falls short in all things food. Drinks and food are over priced, even pre-pandemic...and that would be fine if it was quite good. Absolutely no issue in paying for what I get. Everything seems to be either lacking in ingredients quality or in how it is prepared/cooked (overcooked, dried out, wrong temperature, lacking seasoning, lacks thoughtful combination of ingredients, presentation, etc.). Atmosphere is quite good and really dig how they've transformed the rear riverfront area. I will keep returning, though not as often as I'd TRULY like. For some top of mind examples check out the Narrows UBE, PA, Tabor Road Tavern, Proper Brewing Company Quakertown, Social Still in Bethlehem, Monk's Cafe, INC New Brunswick, Rails, etc. ... Not sure why North Jersey has such a hard time with gastropub food, all while charging more than all the places listed above for farm to table. New Head Chef?! Please shake things up and become our once a week or more place! 🙏

I have to say the experience we had with Jadrien was outstanding!! He was so attentive and on top of the menus and all beers on tap.. he had great recommendations for me and my girls and really showed us a great time! Definitely go to the upstairs bar and as for him he is great!!!
