Totally stunning hike. You must experience it to believe it. About a 6km loop with sets of steep stairs on either end, one descending into the bottom of the gorge and the other ascending of course. The scenery is fantastic with amazing rock formations, bird life, waterfalls and more. We hiked with 3 children aged 3, 5 and 7. They loved it and needed just a little help on the way out. Our 7 yr old did the entire walk...we took about 4 hours. Take water and snacks, good walking shoes and your camera....

My sister and I have ticked off six of the recommended walks in the Blue Mountains region and so far the Grand Canyon would have to be our favourite. Cleverly sculpted stone stair cases lead down to the bush kept lush and green by recent rainfall and there are several waterfalls, swimming holes and streams to cool off in on a hot day. Itโ€™s a 3-4 hour hike however we took a lot longer to take photos and enjoy drinks and snacks half way. Well worth the effort.

The loop is moderately difficult but needs a bit of endurance. Do hold your bladder because the toilet is only available at the starting points near the carpark. Still this is a track suitable for the whole family providing a certain amount of fitness is maintained. In my opinion it's best to pick a cooler day and start in the morning. The early start might offer less foot traffic and a better chance to see the spectacular foggy Blue Mountains view. A large part of the track might be quite wet after rain so light and comfortable hiking wear would help a lot. I made the mistake of wearing jeans but luckily had my hiking boots on. Pay attention along the track and you can spot many native plants. There are always birds singing somewhere but spotting them is another story. Note this review is based on my experience a few years back. Hopefully the track is not damaged by recent rains.

TIP: Start the walk counter clockwise! When youโ€™re at the parking spot, walk to the right instead of the left (itโ€™ll feel weird cause the majority will be going the other way around). Read about this tip and was so glad to do it because then you finish with the best views so you have always something to look forward to ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ Having said that, this loop walk is very nice and entertaining. You get to see a little bit of everything (forest, rainforest, waterfalls) and if youโ€™re feeling brave you can even jump into a natural pool (although the water is very cold). There are quite a bit of stairs, but besides that very recommendable for everyone (even kids, there are rails in the spots where it is is more slippery so still safe). Take with some snacks, water and sunscreen!

Totally the best one day, round course, hike in the blue mountains. Highly recommended for all ages! So much to see, really beautiful! Waterfalls, a rain forest, super interesting rock formations. We did the hike with our parents (late 60s) and our girls - 6 and 3 year old. The 3 year old needed help but everyone else were fine. Takes about 4-5 hours, we did two long stops for a picnic. If you just walk through it you can finish it in about 1.5 hours. There is a big decent in the beginning and a climb at the top, regardless of where you start, so the direction doesnโ€™t really matters, we finished at the lookout which was great, a reward for the hard work, but you can also start from there. Highly recommended!

This track is up there with the best I've experienced. Almost every corner reveals a jaw-droppingly gorgeous scene, increasing your appreciation and wonder all the more. Yes, the steps out are difficult for most, but a small price to pay for such a wonderful walk. We read that walking the track anti-clockwise is best as it gives you a slow reveal of the breath taking view from Evans Lookout as you tackle the last few steps.

Absolutely serene! The Grand Canyon track in the Blue Mountains offers a tranquil escape. The easy descent is dotted with a few steep segments, making the journey enjoyable. The breathtaking views are undeniably worth the effort.

Incredible track! Gorgeous scenery varying from heathland to rainforest, itโ€™s not flat but compared to other walks in the area itโ€™s relatively easy. I highly recommend this walk as it exceeded all expectations.

Donโ€™t go. Terrible walk. A million stairs, middle of nowhere, just donโ€™t do it. Ok, hopefully I turned some people offโ€ฆ.as this is an awesome walk! (It can be busy hence trying to turn some peeps off! ;) Lots of stairs, but be grateful- someone made those to make your life easier, despite how not easy it might feel on step 2167. Such a beautiful walk, and perfect for a moderate walk- not too hard, not too easy. Highly recommend!

One of the best trails I've ever been in NSW. It passes through creeks, waterfalls, caves, huge ferns, and lots of steps, making it a really interesting walk. It was like there was a surprise at each turn. We went anti clockwise and it was an easy walk until the seemingly-never-ending stairs back up at the end. Either way you go, there are a lot of stairs. If you go clockwise (starting at Evans Lookout), the steps to climb back up is gradual, but over a larger distance so takes time. And there's only a carpark greeting you up there. If you go anti-clockwise, there's lesser number of stairs to climb during the hike, and just one steep set of stairs at the end. The view at Evans Lookout as you finish the last set of stairs is worth it, and there are benches to admire the view while you catch your breathe back after climbing all those stairs.

Medium Grade - about 3 hrs loop. Amazing views. Sufficient parking u less you visit on public holidays. Lots of stairs , therefore not ideal for children. Pack your water and snacks along. Not recommended when its raining.

Beautiful track with lots of amazing spots. Took us 3hr 10 mins including multiple stops for photos. Whichever way you enter, going down the canyon and walking around to the other side is fairly moderate. By the end of the track you are already tired and then you have to walk back all the way up - this is the most tiring part. Good leg workout. Not for young kids. Teenage and above should be ok.

An incredibly beautiful and ever changing trail. Very hard work especially climbing from the bottom to Evans Lookout. But absolutely worth while. The National Parks have created a miracle walk. All thanks to them

The trail begins with a stunning view from Evan's Lookout, then you go down a lot of stairs into a forest. Walking in this forest (I think it's called a cold temperate rainforest) through many canyons and over many creeks is just amazing! Soo beautiful, especially during sunset! The sign said it takes 3-4hrs, but 1ยฝ-2ยฝhrs is more realistic. A must do when visiting the Blue Mountains Nationalpark.

One of the best walks in the Blue Mountains. This iconic track includes views, waterfalls, lush rainforest canopy, creeks, wildlife and deep canyons. Itโ€™s a snapshot of the best of the Blue Mountains. Donโ€™t let the stairs or distance put you offโ€ฆ you can take plenty of breaks and enjoy your surrounds. An experienced hiker can complete the walk in about 2 hours but take more time to see everything.

One of my favourite walking tracks in the Blue Mountains! You get to see so many different types of ferns, moss, and rock formations. The walk brings you into the bottom of the canyon where you get to be next to the river. Be aware that many of the creek crossings will be under water after heavy rain, and many parts of the track will be muddy too, so wear good shoes! Itโ€™s just such an iconic walk - just take it slowly and enjoy it!

Simply incredible, the best hike in the Blue Mountains. We did it with a 5 year old and aside from some hand holding it was very manageable. This is not about valley views, it is all about walking through an amazing creek valley oasis.

One of the prettiest rainforest walks in the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains (when you get down the steepish mountain and lotsss of stairs) Take a refreshing splash in the creek and pictures for your insta worthy cause and then climb up many more stairs and see lots of pretty ferns, mini waterfalls through the rocks, maybe some birds. It's just gorgeous. If you stop alot and admire the views this walk will take you around 3 hours. No bathrooms obviously so use the public ones at carpark before you start the walk.

Amazing hike! It is not too hard, but also be aware there are a lot of stairs, as you'll be basically walking down to the canyon and then up again. Concerning time, I would say around 2h hours if making no stops and walking at steady pace. Also, it is a bit colder down at the canyon compared to the top at the viewpoint. The views from the vieepoint are amazing.

This walk far exceeded our expectations, it was stunning at every turn. Steep stepped stairs at either end but well worth the calves. Start at Neatest Glen parking area to finish the loop at Evans lookout- the perfect finish to an incredible walk. If you have only time for one walk it is an absolute must do ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ

This was really a really amazing and different perspective on the Blue Mountains. You descend in to the Canyon via many steps and follow a small stream until you get to a river. It has its own ecosystem down there, very humid and lots of ferns. We saw large Sydney Crayfish in the water and amazing waterfalls. It's well worth the walk and is a real pleasure that makes the effort totally worthwhile.

One of the most interesting hikes I've done in Sydney. There's a great mix of large rainforest sections of the walk that has a cool ambience. Overall the hike is mostly quite easy/ beginner friendly but the final kilometer of steep uphill stairs you need to climb is quite challenging. Your thighs and butt will likely be pretty sore the next day from these stairs.

Great walk, spectacular scenery with dense vegetation. Lots of stairs and great stepping stones through streams. After rainfall was awesome to see so many flowing little waterfalls. Took us just over an hour and a half.

Absolutely beautiful hiking track where you can immerse in nature and waterfalls. Not suitable for those with walking difficulties and you may need to cross some small riverbeds. Would recommend starting from the viewpoint instead and walk your way back as there is a steep climb up.

Trekking the Grand Canyon in the Blue Mountains counterclockwise provides a unique experience, allowing you to appreciate the breathtaking scenery in a different way. Itโ€™s steep climb to the end but you will be granted with beautiful views from Evanโ€™s lookout. You can explore diverse flora and fauna while experiencing the thrill of challenging terrains. The trek is a perfect blend of adventure and natural wonder, making it a must do trek.

One of the most beautiful walks I've ever done. It felt like ever bend in the valley was a big reveal and photo moment. My girlfriend and I left about 3hrs before sunset which was perfect as the crowds had thinned out by then so it felt like we had the walk to ourselves. Took us 2hrs 15 in the end with a stop at the bottom for lunch. Would also recommend doing it counter-clockwise to avoid crowds on the way back up.

Very beautiful hiking loop. Better to walk morning and evening during summer. Avoid rainy season for hiking. It will be slippery. Amazing views and beautiful trails and nature. Enjoyed the walk.

We loved this track so much on our dusk walk with the family. It was like a magical fairyland with the river crossing stones and moss, flow worms in the rocks and stone stepped pathways winding through rock walls. Just gorgeous. I would do it again in a heartbeat. It's a bit of a steep walk so take your time. Never shine torches at the glow worms and never touch them. Be respectful of nature and enjoy the magic. Free park entry and parking. Close to town.

Happy to have finally done this walk, it was not too hard , my six year old was ok until the end even after climbing the steep hill to Evans lookout. I definitely recommend ending the walk with the lookout, it makes the walk back up really worth it. It took us 2.5 hours including a stop for lunch. I would still consider the Wentworth Falls walk my favourite though. we will keep exploring the area!

This has to be the best walking track in the Blue Mountains, which is saying a lot. Great workout too. Starts with a fantastic valley view, winds down through dry scrubby bush into deep and dark rainforest. A must do if you're in the Blue Mountains.

A must go and see track. Beautiful views and a cold fresh breath even in the hot summer days. Getting to the bottom of the canyon has steep steps which makes it a difficult track though. You better pack and snack and drink to take a break in one of those beautiful spots in the middle of the way. There is a car park and public restrooms, however, currently parking is under construction.

Looked almost surreal as if transported to a different world, with lush vegetation, shade, waterfalls, streams. Beautiful after rains. The track is well maintained. Easy to walk with kids. We stopped multiple times to enjoy the beauty of the nature, which still lingers in our memory.
