4.5 km² of forest 10% of which is virgin forest. The communities believe the monkeys in these forest have spiritual connection and hold them in reverence thus protect them and their environment from intrusion

It's an amazing place with great guides who explain everything to you. A must go when in Ghana. Take plenty of water though, temperatures get really hot and you sweat like you're in a sauna. You get to feed the monkeys and the monkeys are gentle.

This monkey sanctuary had Mona monkeys and the black and white colobuses. With several monkey clans living in the forest you will definitely meet cute babies and adult monkeys playing around you for treats. So remember to carry some treats. You can easily buy bananas and groundnuts which are very nice treats to start with from the village. The roads are good from the major cities to the monkey sanctuary but for the last stretch. You will be on dirt road to the village. If you stay late to about 5pm you will see several monkey clans take over the village in search of food. The black and white colobus monkeys are not attracted by treats so they maintain minimal human contact. But it is likely to have the Mona monkeys pick treats from your palms and occasionally jump on your shoulders to pick treats.

Short tour foro the expensive price. Be aware that if you got a scratch you will need the anti rabies vaccination un the nearest hospital

Was hoping to see more monkeys and hoped to see a gift shop for souvenirs. Has a restaurant opening soon across from the monkey sanctuary.

Boabeng Fiema monkey sanctuary is a place for all people irrespective of your age. The place has been permanently reserve for the monkeys. The nearby communities and the forestry devision has done so well to protect the forest from bush fires and any other activities that can endanger the monkeys. It is a must visit place because the monkeys are so friendly and comes out from the forest when you visit them with food, such as groundnut, bread, banana etc.
