In the accompanying photo below, the Northern Lights combine with the sunset to present an opportunity for a staggeringly beautiful landscape photograph. The beach at Mjelle, is nestled along the shoreline of one of Norway’s Lofoten Islands, all of which offer among the most picturesque vantage points in the world from which to observe “The Lights” between the months of September and April.

It's not surprising that this beach is featured in songs and literature from the area. It is highly visited but still pristine. A bit off the beaten track for visitors to Bodø, but this is a bit of tamed wilderness worth seeing. This is fantastic remote beach Mjelle about 15 km out north of Bodø towards Kjerringøy. It's not really red but in parts it has a lot of small red granade stones in the sand. The beach has no facilities at all, so I needed to bring my suppleres for the day. Anyone can find nudity occurs here. However, there is normally more than enough space so no-one won't be bothered by other people. We need to find a spot and enjoy our day and maybe the night to see the midnight sun over Lofoten Islands.

(Translated by Google) "Easily often over and over" Beautiful beach in fantastic surroundings a few miles north of Bodø. Known for the pink sand. When you come across the Futskaret you will see a completely unreal view.

It is worth a try to visit this beach, even though you don't have a rented car. We went there by bus and walked for about 15-20 mins from where the bus left us. We hitch-hiked back to the city. Allow about 2 hrs to walk along the beach - don't rush it.

Beautiful mjelle! Put on your hiking boots or tennis shoes and enjoy the views! A bit difficult bring a stroller back to the beaches but from the parking lot there's a nice path for a long enough distance that someone In a wheelchair could also take part in mjelle's beautiful views! Space for eating and also restrooms in parking lot.

Interesting place to visit. Good personnel. I was surprised by warm welcome of the personnel and enjoyed listening stories about the centre and salmon farming in Norway. A great place to hide on a windy and rainy day or after a long walk in the city or surrounding mountains.

What a fun spot! I learned so much about salmon farming in Norway. The guide was friendly and informative. You can see most of the exhibit in about 30 minutes. If you’re passing through Bodø, I would recommend you visit. I heard they’re getting a virtual reality exhibit too, that should be exciting.

Only 1% of all Norwegian salmon production receives antibiotics. 80% of the equipment and materials used for production are recycled. Edifying. Information boards, films, brochures, gallery, toys. This is a case of small is beautiful. Monika the tour guide was helpful in explaining all about salmon farming in the Norwegian Fjiords. Learn why Antibiotic feeding has fallen below 1% now. Why the breeding nets are placed in selected locations around the Coastal areas etc. View handcrafted purses, wallets, handbags and even baby bootees made from salmon leather. Amazing colours; Intriguing indeed. Most appreciated tour. Bodo is worth visiting again next year.

Exhibit center for exploring how fish are sustainably farmed in Norway. Stopped here during a short layover from the Hurtigruten. Very informative, plenty of great visuals including video. We had a lovely guide led tour, learned a lot, and dispelled many misconceptions I had about fish farming. If you are at all interested in the salmon industry in Norway, definitely a required stop.

(Translated by Google) A hot summer evening 5 years ago we drove by pure coincidence past the sign to Mjelde ... had heard Mjelde the song several times ... "you must have been there to be able to understand ..." Overnight in sleeping bag under the open sky on the mountain before driving all the way down to Mjelde..18gr.kl24. Had the whole sea with the Lofoten wall facing us.
