A serene and beautiful place to visit. If you are in Gaya, you must travel to Bodh Gaya, which is about 20kms from Gaya. Because it is worth of it. The Buddhist temple is worth to visit. You will get to learn the history of Lord Goutam buddha, and also about the origin of Buddhism. The Bodhi Tree, also called the Bodhi Fig Tree or Bo Tree, was a large and ancient sacred fig tree located in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India. Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual teacher who became known as the Buddha, is said to have attained enlightenment or Bodhi circa 500 BCE under it. In religious iconography, the Bodhi Tree is recognizable by its heart-shaped leaves, which are usually prominently displayed. The proper term "Bodhi Tree" is also applied to existing sacred fig trees, also known as bodhi trees. The foremost example of an existing tree is the Mahabodhi Tree growing at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, which is often cited as a direct descendant of the original tree. This tree, planted around 250 BCE, is a frequent destination for pilgrims, being the most important of the four main Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Other holy bodhi trees with great significance in the history of Buddhism are the Anandabodhi Tree at Jetavana in Sravasti in North India and the Sri Maha Bodhi Tree in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. Both are also believed to have been propagated from the original Bodhi Tree.

Bodh Gaya is a religious site and place of pilgrimage associated with the Mahabodhi Temple Complex in Gaya district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is famous as it is the place where Gautama Buddha is said to have attained Enlightenment (Pali: bodhi) under what became known as the Bodhi Tree.[2] Since antiquity, Bodh Gaya has remained the object of pilgrimage and veneration both for Hindus and Buddhists..

I visited this place in first week of April'20. Because of Covid, it was not very crowdy. The place has a very good vibe. The tree is very old so it has been given some support.

It was lovely to see this tree derived from the ancient tree under which the Buddha gained enlightenment. There were Buddhist monks chanting in large groups under the tree. It felt quite a moving experience. The calm atmosphere here gives you inner peace and rejuvenates one's mind. The tree you need to see if you are in Bodhgaya. Siddhartha Gautama, aka Shakyamuni Buddha, attained realization under an earlier growth of this tree more than 2500 years ago. A worldwide pilgrimage site. Well maintained, well protected. A must-see.

You must talk to the people over there as monk, they will guide and tell you about its history and its rich legacy. There are various other temples too like lord Jagannath temple and all. One mosque is also there, which depicts about the ethics and values of India which rely on "unity in diversity".Once you get in there, you will never feel like going out. It's my personal experience over there. Hope, you visit and second me for sure. Have a great time. Thank you.

Recently, I visited the Bodhgaya temple in Gaya city. I traveled from Tatanagar to Gaya and finally reached Bodhgaya to visit the Mahabodhi temple, where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment. It was a remarkable experience. I had the opportunity to see the Buddhist tree under which he sat and meditated. The serenity of the place was captivating, offering a perfect setting for finding inner peace. During my visit, I dedicated an hour to meditation, immersing myself in the tranquil ambiance. I was not alone in my pursuit of mental serenity; I encountered numerous tourists from diverse backgrounds, including the Philippines, Thailand, China, and Japan, all drawn to this place to meditate and explore their respective cultures. One of the highlights was the 80-feet Buddha statue located nearby, which added to the spiritual aura of the surroundings. Overall, my experience was truly fulfilling, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It provided me with an opportunity to disconnect from the chaos of daily life and connect with my inner self. Bodhgaya temple is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking mental peace, cultural enrichment, and spiritual growth.

Lying on the left side of the famous Mahabodhi Temple, the Bodhi Tree is considered to be a Central Symbol In Buddhism. Also known as the Bo tree, the Bodhi tree is the sacred tree under which Lord Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment. Before attaining enlightenment, Buddha meditated under this tree for more than a month. The Bodhi Tree present here today is believed to be the fifth succession of the original tree. The tree is encircled by intricately carved votive stupas, a number of Buddha statues, and chaityas. On your visit to this place, you can find many Buddhist monks sitting under the Bodhi tree, meditating or reading.

Good place to meditate. You are lucky if you get this tree leaf. You can also hear history of this tree by monks. This temple upper part is made of pure gold which is gifted by Thailand king.

It is such a pure and serene place. It takes off all the clutters of the mind and this place offers you peace. One should visit this place often in one's lifetime. The area is maintained so well, and the child monks are so simple at heart and full of purity. Two-three of them came up to me and gave me the Bodhi tree leaves, told me stories about the place (unlike the guides who were trying to make money). This place is a must visit.

The Bodhi Tree, located 100 kilometres to the south of Patna in the north Indian state of Bihar, is perhaps the most prominent and respected sacred places in Buddhism because of the rich historical significance attached to it. It is under this tree that Prince Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual teacher who later became to be known as the Buddha, attained enlightenment. It is believed that Prince Siddhartha had to sit and meditate under this tree for seven days. Later on, a shrine known as Animisalocana Cetiya was erected on the spot where he had sat down. A small temple was also built near the Bodhi tree in the 7th century. The Bodhi tree is a frequently visited destination spot by tourists and is one of the four main Buddhist pilgrimage sites. In fact, the Anandabodhi tree in Sravasti and the Bodhi tree in Anuradhapura, both of which are again significant places that find mention in the history of Buddhism, are believed to have been propagated from this tree here at Bodh Gaya. The aura of the Bodhi tree and the temple complex in which this tree is located have attracted sages, meditators and yogis to it ever since the time of the Buddha. Great and renowned spiritual figures like Buddhajnana, Padmasambhava, Vimalamitra, Nagarjuna and Atisha, have lived and meditated underneath the historically and religiously significant Bodhi Tree. Bodh Gaya is also popular for its UNESCO World Heritage Site- the Mahabodhi Temple Complex, which is just beside the tree. Religious people, as well as lovers of history, find this place especially fascinating.

Feeling divine and aesthetic. One must go there to feel the serenity and peace. After seeing the lord buddha statue and rajayatana tree, I was mesmerized. What a experience it was. Mobile photography was not allowed. The lemon tea is a must. Sit with monks and they provide historic information about the temple.

The Bodhgaya Bodhi Tree stands as a living testament to one of the most significant moments in human history—the enlightenment of Gautama Buddha. As I had the privilege of visiting this sacred site, I am compelled to share my experience and express the profound impact it had on my spiritual journey. The Bodhi Tree holds a special place in the hearts of millions of Buddhists worldwide, for it is believed to be the very spot where Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment over two millennia ago. Stepping into its presence, I was immediately struck by the palpable sense of reverence and tranquility that enveloped the surroundings. The majestic Bodhi Tree, with its sprawling branches and vibrant green leaves, exudes an aura of wisdom and serenity, inviting visitors to embark on their own inward exploration. The historical and spiritual significance of the Bodhi Tree is immense. It is a direct link to the life and teachings of Gautama Buddha, serving as a powerful symbol of enlightenment and the potential for liberation from suffering. The tree's age, estimated to be more than 2,500 years, adds to its mystique and reverence. Standing beneath its shade, I couldn't help but feel a deep connection to the countless seekers who had come before me, all drawn to this sacred sanctuary in pursuit of inner awakening. The atmosphere surrounding the Bodhi Tree is one of introspection and contemplation. Visitors are encouraged to sit in meditation or engage in silent reflection, allowing the tree's tranquil energy to permeate their being. The rustling of the leaves, the gentle breeze, and the distant sounds of chanting create a harmonious symphony that nurtures a sense of inner stillness and clarity. It is a place where one can delve into the depths of their consciousness, seeking answers and finding solace in the silence. The Bodhgaya Bodhi Tree is not only a site of spiritual significance but also a place of pilgrimage and cultural heritage. It attracts devotees from all corners of the globe, each bringing their unique traditions and practices. The diversity of the visitors adds to the richness of the experience, fostering an environment of inclusivity and shared reverence for the teachings of Buddha. Surrounding the Bodhi Tree is the sacred complex of Bodhgaya, which houses numerous temples, monasteries, and meditation centers. These spaces provide additional avenues for spiritual exploration and engagement. The vibrant colors, intricate architecture, and the aroma of incense create a captivating atmosphere that further deepens the overall experience. In conclusion, a visit to the Bodhgaya Bodhi Tree is a pilgrimage to the heart of Buddhism, a journey of self-discovery, and a communion with the enlightened mind of Gautama Buddha. It is a place where time seems to stand still, and the boundaries between the physical and spiritual realms blur. The Bodhi Tree and its surrounding complex offer a sanctuary of tranquility, a space where seekers can connect with their innermost selves and tap into the timeless wisdom that resides within. Regardless of one's spiritual background, a visit to the Bodhgaya Bodhi Tree is an opportunity to be profoundly moved and inspired by the legacy of enlightenment that continues to resonate through the ages

An amazingly serene place. Here under this tree Gautam Buddha was enlightened during his prolong meditation. This may give a sensation to the nerves a peculiar feeling. The place is surrounded by either very serene chants or hundreds of monks and common people, all sitting quiet and still for hours. A must visit place in Bodh Gaya.
