Really cool atmosphere. Staff is excellent, really nice, attentive The ribs were dry, the sauteed mushroom side dry and boring and I love mushrooms and I couldn't eat much of it ... , my husband got a clam appetizer and he enjoyed it but MANY of the clams had lost their meat and they weren't on the bottom, he got paella for dinner, it was "pretty good, not amazing, not bad, not worth $36"... Desserts were large and yummy. It's good. The food is not great, just good, not worth the price.

We visited over 60 restaurants on our 4 week vacation trip across the States. From fast food to upscale. You can guess which was the uncrowned #1: Of course the Barbacoa. We had a nice table practically right on the lake with a (gas) fire pit in front of us. So, in addition to food and drinks, we were also able to enjoy the romantic sunset with the geese flying in. The service is consistently professional. Everyone has their job, no one is intrusive and you aren't hassled with the bill at the main course. On the contrary, you are left alone and are implicitly encouraged to enjoy the evening in this great environment for as long as possible. Nevertheless, if you just make a hint, someone will be there immediately. About the food: Contrary to our habits, we decided not to eat steaks because the other options were too tempting. After the excellent guacamole, which was freshly prepared according to our own wishes, we stuck to fish and paella. We have rarely eaten so well. Yes, it's not the cheapest restaurant in Boise. But the overall package is definitely worth it.

Food was good, with the exception of the Tuna tartare. This is supposed to be one of their dishes that they are known for and it was bland, no taste and served with lettuce, which kept the bland affect. Crab cakes, steak, artichoke bites all were very good. Fried cheesecake bites were scrumptious and drinks were decently good! Service was personable and prices were very high and a louder atmosphere, but overall a nice dinner.

This is one of the more expensive restaurants but it is seriously one of the best steak restaurants we have ever been to and definitely well worth the money. The atmosphere is a little dark but nice and relaxing. The alcoholic drinks are good and the food is phenomenal! We got their flatbread appetizer and it was delicious! For our entree we ended up getting the special of the night, which was prime rib with a truffle sauce and lobster tails and man we were in heaven! My husband did the hot rock for his where they "light it on fire" for a second. No, it doesn't burn the food and it is really fun to watch! For dessert we got their deep fried cheesecake and the chocolate mousse. Everything was just incredibly fantastic in taste and in appearance. Our waiter was awesome and overall we had an amazing time! I highly recommend going here!

Food was good. We loved the fish dish called "roughy" (???l). The paella was so-so. Calamari and crab cakes were ok. Our server was very nice and friendly.

Fabulous atmosphere for those looking for good food and drinks. Some balk at the pricey menu, but the servings are huge and very well crafted. Some nights are definitely on the trendy side, but the great staff and tasty drinks make all your cares melt away!

This was not just dining out but instead a dining experience. Our guest told us that they have traveled the world and never have experienced a place like Barbacoa. The atmosphere was top notch, and the food was terrific as was the staff. The drinks were well poured/presented and the deserts were nothing we had seen before - like the cotton candy cake. Everytime you turn around and see what other people are eating makes you want to come back and try more dishes here. We highly recommend Barbacoa.

Always a beautiful ambiance & great service! The filet was just as good as Chandlers but the sauce and presentation made the experience more tasty. Oysters are perfect even for those who typically don’t partake! Try them here w the jalapeño relish! The stinkin delish Crab & corn bisque made me keep eating when full. With families or romance in mind make reservations! The bar area seating is usually available for walk in but we were barraged with the obnoxious laughter and cussing of drunken sailor ladies next to us. Oh and water servers, please never put your fingertips on the rim of a glass when serving! Service 101

I cannot say enough about my experience at Barbacoa Grill. I got seafood skewers while my dad and Grandpa got a ribeye steak. I got to take a bite, and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Our view was amazing, our server was thoughtful and wonderful. I asked for salt, and she returned with these three bowls of different types of salt! Just a wonderful experience and a wonderful way to wrap up a visit to Boise.

Place is cool. Bathroom is a beautiful pink! Drinks were on point. I got the $60 ribeye and it was under seasoned, it just wasn’t up to par. I got it lit on fire (hot rock) because it was cool!! Garlic mash wasn’t great either. We also did table side guac and it was good. My husband and daughter both enjoyed their dishes. My husband said he would go back.

Everything about this place is amazing. The people, the food, the table side guac… all of it. Food is exceptional and the Rock steak is a show stopper for sure. Salmon was very well prepared and the drinks are very beautiful! Great place for anniversaries, birthdays or even date nights! Very cute birthday cotton candy lantern too! + the view…. breathtaking!

I think that probably what makes this restaurant stand out is not necessarily the food but the bougie interior design and the outdoor views. The food is quite good but I wouldn’t say that it is always worth the price. I have eaten from humble food trucks or mom and pop restaurants that have food that is better. The service is excellent as you would expect for the price that you are paying but it is certainly not the kind of place that I would return to again and again. I feel like it comes off as style over substance. A great place for corporate dinner or if you want to impress out of town business people. Leave the kids at home or anyone under the age of 10. I would also skip it for a a date or special occasion. Pay a bit less for something more romantic.

We had an after wedding dinner here, and had such a great time! Our Server "Crystal " was the best! She took good care of our group! The food was amazing! I loved the decorations! My only complaint is the music was a little on the loud side. If you come here, plan on spending more than your usual steak dinner. I had a steak, a green side salad and artichoke fritattas.

What a wonderful experience!! From the very moment we walked in! Our table was ready with no wait, our server very witty , charming, the food outstanding !! We started off with the best lemon drop martini served beautifully with ice sculptured martini glass. Kept the cocktail chilled to perfection!! Started off with oysters on the half shell and crab cakes...outstanding !! Next fillet mignon and lobster served on a hot rock !! Truly a visual experience as it was practical. The rock keep the steak warm the entire meal !! Magical taste experience. We took home some triple chocolate mouse...which was the best i ever had . One of the best dining experience I had in a long time !! 5☆☆☆☆☆

Been here many times, having tried most of their menu, I have no complaints about the food. Everything I've ever tried here is delicious. However, the service the last few times leaves a bit to be desired. For the price point, you expect a certain amount of professionalism that just hasn't been there. I understand that sometimes things go wrong and people have bad nights. But offering to fix things can go a long way. It loses a star from me for service. That being said, we will continue to eat here. The vibe, decor, and food are all amazing. It's special enough to get fancied up for a special occasion, date night, clients, etc, and still casual enough that people show up dressed down for a yummy meal. Hopefully, in the future, we will receive better service.

Best steak place I've ever been to! The atmosphere is out of this world unique, and the food and service is impeccable. The steak is brought out on a piping hot stone with cognac sauce on fire. Very cool. It's worth it to come to Boise just to try this place. You won't regret it!

This restaurant has tons of good reviews, and they deserve it! The atmosphere reminds us of Cabo, like Edith's. So much to look at. On this visit we enjoyed the Wood Stone Oven Fire bread, Paella, and Hot Rock filet. Love the presentation and the portions were huge! We were so full we had no room for dessert. But they looked amazing cause the table next to us had some good looking ones! Would love to go back again!

Friends told me this place was amazing! I was not disappointed. The wait staff, amazing!!! The food, amazing!! My husband said I made him a steak snob by taking him there 🤣. He said he'll never be able to eat another steak without it being served on a hot lava stone. I'm not a steak person, but the bite he gave me could make me a steak person. The steak was so tender it melted in your mouth. The sauce was rich and flavorful. I ate the salmon with dill chutney 😍. I have eaten salmon along the Oregon coast, Washington and California. Hands down, this was the best salmon I have ever eaten. The portions do not disappoint. They are good size portions. You have to try the parmesan herb flatbread appetizer

One of the best restaurants, if not the best one in Boise! The ambience, food, service - everything was great! Our friends were here from Seattle and they loved everything about this restaurant as well! The (personal touch) special dessert to celebrate our friends’ anniversary was a welcome surprise! Special thanks to our hosts - Jaden, Gwyn and Francesco: you all were very welcoming and amazing! Would definitely come back here again.

This place is all about the atmosphere. It is a great place for a business dinner or special event. The waitress are very attentive and nice. Their guacamole is one of the best I have had. They make it right in front of you. They have great food. Their hot rock stake is fun and enjoyable to watch while it is on fire. The sauce they use for the firing the stake has a great taste. The stake is great. I like my stake medium rare I didn't pull my stake off the hot rock while I was eating it. At the end my stake was medium but that was my fault. I do struggle with the price tag of $50 for 10 oz stake.

Went here as part of a wedding party. It was fantastic. The steak on a stone or what ever they call it was so good and the ability for everyone to leave the steak on the stone and let it finish to thier own personal taste was great. The desserts were very good too and the mini tacos were an unusual appetizer that really started the meal of correctly. The atmosphere of the place was very happening. We were there on a Wednesday night and it was hopping. The room handled a pretty large party well. The view from the deck was very picturesque. I could not have been more pleased.

This will always be one of my favorite restaurants in Boise. We paid around $120 for 2 people. Both got the Coulotte Steak & Cajun Shrimp, Table side Guacamole, Strawberry lemonade, and 2 glasses of wine. Can be a little spendy but worth the money! Lots of food and great atmosphere.

Highly recommend the hot rock filet Mignon. It was 10/10. The best thing we had. I also tried the tableside guacamole which was good, but I don’t think it’s really any better than any other tableside guacamole. I’d also skip the s’mores dessert and try something else. Great service and unique decor. Make a reservation! I have a full review on YouTube.

The food is fantastic. The hot rock steaks are the best. The picture is my wife who ordered the wagon giant steak. She ate the leftovers the rest of the week.

This was an awesome place to eat dinner. I was not disappointed in my friend's recommendation. The food was great, the service was prompt and pleasant and the atmosphere was awesome. Wait time was non-existent for dinner hour in the open bar. Tables near the water look great.

We've gone to Barbacoa for years and this has been our first time back in a couple. Our service was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere still fun but loud. The food seems to be declining though which was really sad. We used to pine over the table side guac and it just wasn't it this time. Maybe more training for your new guys? My hot rock steak and chile relleno was fabulous as ever. I decided to splurge an extra $20 to get the prawns. I remember a few years ago these huge Mexican prawns on this spicy mash that were to die for... These "prawns" were disgraceful. They were three shrimp, maybe standard large, overcooked in a dish swimming in a sauce... For $20?! Y'all. This doesn't make sense. The duck two ways was great but the crispy duck was incredible. The risotto was meh. Ribs and fries were great. Lots of desserts which were delicious other than the fried ice cream tree... Nothing fried about it. It lost a star for me but still a great spot.

Good service and happy hour drinks. Cool decor and ambiance. Great outdoor seating. Mini tacos were so so. My friend enjoyed her ahi seaweed salad

Amazing atmosphere, incredible food, wonderful service, and fantastic drinks. Reservations are a MUST as it gets packed. It's definitely pricey, but the portions are huge and they're beautifully plated. I had the pork chop and my friend had the tamale with chicken mole. Both were delicious. They have a great happy hour as well. It's probably one of, if not THE best restaurant in Boise.

This place was an amazing experience with amazing food and our waiter was fantastic and funny!! I really enjoyed my birthday at such a fun place! The decor was awesome as well.. it was nothing like I have ever seen. The view of the lake was beautiful. The table side guacamole made in front of us while holding a conversation was pretty cool and the guacamole was so delicious 😋

One of the coolest atmosphere I have ever been to. We were visiting friends who raved about it and to be honest I was skeptical. This restaurant would fit right into Vegas! Moroccan theme with Mediterranean food. We had the tableside guacamole, a must followed by hot rock steaks and finally cotton candy dessert and ice cream pops. If you are around Boise this is a must try.

Food and service are amazing. Had the sea bass special which melted in your mouth! Calamari appetizer was extremely tender. If you have not been here, just be aware it is very noisy!

Went here for our anniversary dinner and enjoyed every minute of it. The food was incredible. The hot rock that they use to serve the meat is a nice fancy touch. The guacamole was some of the best I've ever had. The wine selection was great, we had a real smooth Spanish wine. The cotton candy served at the end is nice unexpected addition to the meal. Everything was plated beautifully. Our waitress was lovely. Take time to look around while you eat as the decor is also something not to be missed.

Our bartender was simply perfect! Very nice, knowledgeable, and did such a great job! Food was good! Presentation of the food was really pretty/fun! Everyone raves about their steak on a hot rock. It was a VERY hard choice for us as the two pasta dishes we chose were equally amazing!!! Barbacoa does a wonderful job with everything on their menu!!

  • 5/5 Craig J. 1 year ago on Google
PROS: The atmosphere and the service was great. The food came out very quickly. The restaurant is very spacious and lively. The food was overall delicious. CONS: the food on their menus are very pricey, so make sure you have enough in your bank account before coming.

Would come here just for the cotton candy! It wasn’t my birthday but my friend and I kept seeing everyone get cotton candy delivered to their table so we asked and they just gave us one for free! :) They were also out delivering some kind of ice cream or donut balls on sticks or something?? Looked fun. The guacamole is worth it!! Decorations are super spooky.

This place was definitely a very cool experience!! Lots of Spanish decor everywhere, including some very unique pieces. Some of the steaks include a little fire display and the pepper shakers are intriguingly and funnily huge!! They put thought into everything. The portions were large and I’d say pretty fairly matched the price. We got the filet mignon and fettuccine, a steak, and the paella between all of us and would recommend all of these options! The cotton candy dessert was also fun. Waiters were very friendly and helpful too! We’d definitely come back next time we’re in Boise.

We just had dinner here for my mama’s birthday. First of all, Corrine was THE BEST. She is a reason alone to return. The atmosphere is so cool. Really fun decor and vibe. Now… the food. WOW. The table side guacamole is a must. We each had the steak on a rock which was unreal. What a great experience all around. And again, THANK YOU CORRINE for making what would have been a great night into one we will not forget!
