The room on the 5th floor had great linens, toiletries, no carpet, granite desk and counters. The bed was comfortable with bright white linens & towels. I found the room, lobby, hallways, breakfast area to be clean Even with this great location. The outside is a bit rundown and it follows through the rest of the place. It is worn and needs a fresh update. The chair in the room needed replaced. (They were putting in new carpets). The hotel has a restaurant/lounge no longer open as well as a seasonal pool. Breakfast can be included with your room for $7. Stayed again this time the air conditioning was out tho they did keep the pool open later than usual, supplied guests with fans and cold water at check in, you can buy wine at the front desk 18 to 24 dollars a bottle. The front desk help id fabulous!

Beautiful room and the most amazing staff. My service dog and I were exhausted and had to stay in Boise unexpectedly. They made it easy on us and were very efficient and courteous. They managed to turn an unhappy turn of events into a really nice night. I couldn't recommend this place enough. Affordable, clean, and the most amazing staff from housekeeping to front desk. Plus their breakfast for only an additional $7 is amazing. Eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage, bacon, and more! Well worth the money.

The staff is friendly and accommodating. My flight got in at 10 a.m., and they let me check in with no additional charge. The hotel itself would be so much nicer if they put some money into it, but it's not awful. Yes, the carpets in the hallways could be cleaned, but I have seen worse. The rooms have wood flooring and in my room was clean. The room was cozy, the bed was comfortable, and it was nice and quiet. Had a balcony with a mountain view, which was lovely. It's close to downtown Boise. There are restaurants and gas stations close by and a gentlemans club across the street. Good parking and a covered smoking area in the front with benches. I will definitely stay here again

I will preface this review by saying that the front desk staff was nice and that the free parking is a definite plus. It is possible that the issues I experienced were due to lack of staffing, who knows. Unfortunately, I found this to be a very poor quality hotel overall. The place is dark, musty, and smells like cigarettes. Pretty much everything was wrong with the room: the bathroom faucet dripped non-stop, the bathtub drain was almost completely clogged and filled water up past my ankles within 2 minutes of showering, 3/5 bathroom light bulbs were out, everything was covered in dust, there were stains on the furniture and curtains, and the thermostat for the room didn’t work at all (I was freezing, so I turned it up high and it literally didn’t change at all after several hours). The other guests were very noisy… lots of shouting in the hallways, door slamming, etc. I was very glad I brought ear plugs! The parking lot lacked adequate lighting and I definitely did not feel super safe here as a solo female traveler. A local man I chatted with at dinner told me this hotel had a reputation for being sketchy, so make of that what you will.

Check-in was a breeze. The gal working the counter was very sweet. But that's about the end of that. We got up to the room and our bed had black residue (could of been lint) sprinkled all over it, nothing a quick flip of the blanket couldn't fix to get them off but it was still a little concerning. On our 2nd day, we found out you could have breakfast from the hotel for an extra $7 a person, honestly its not worth the money. We got back from our outing after going out for breakfast, and our keys had stopped working. I guess they had only registered for 1 night when we were staying 2? I don't know, but they fixed them. On our 3rd day, at about 6 a.m., i wake up to hear water coming from somewhere in the bathroom. I run in thinking something is flooding and there is a steady stream of water coming out of the light fixture that's above the shower. I called the front desk, and he said he would send maintenance. He didn't mention it wouldn't be for the next couple of hours (aka after check out). My husband ended up going to the front desk and that's how he found that information out. He asked them, "How are we supposed to shower then?" (I'm pregnant and just got done throwing up this morning as well) So they finally gave us a key to a room we could shower in, but that's it. We didn't even get an apology. I get this is our last day, but this is the most I've had a hotel mess with our stay, and dealing with this on top of coming here for a funeral has just been overwhelming. I've stayed in nicer, cheaper, and dinker hotels than this, and the one time I decided to splurge a little and get a nice hotel, it's not even worth it.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in in my life!!! The pictures on website definitely doesn’t match the actual hotel. The hotel is run down and smells disgusting! So dirty! We arrived July 13 and hotel clerk said AC had been out since July 2. “Waiting on parts” Hotel was blistering hot, we were put on third floor and we were told “hotel is out of fans”. No cars were in the parking lot, but the first floor was “full”. I’ve never been in something this bad before!!! Price was way overpriced for the very poor quality!! Luckily we only stayed one of our four nights and found another 100 times better!!

I have stayed here a few times. Though the part of town it is in may give off the wrong impression I have loved every stay. My rooms have always been clean. The breakfast is great. The people who work here have all been very friendly. And it is pet friendly which is huge for me. I'll continue to stay here. When all the other places in Boise have jacked their prices up 100 and more this place has been consistent with their prices and I travel and stay monthly to Boise.

The taped up carpet has really got to go. The room was alright, but there were a bunch of beers in the fridge and the sink was filled with water. You can tell the hotel is very old and maybe not in a great part of town. The card readers on all the outside doors were broken so you can only come in through the front entrance. That said, the front desk service was great. There’s just a lot of work that needs to be done. I hope there’s plans to renovate soon.

Stayed here for four nights around Halloween and had a good experience. My room was immaculate when I arrived - shiny floors, clean towels, new toiletries - everything I expected and wanted from a hotel. I didn't need the microwave, mini fridge, or coffee maker during my stay but appreciated that I had that option in my room. My bed was super comfy, my floor was quiet, and I had a good night's sleep throughout my stay. The receptionists were quick, helpful, and pleasant. The breakfast was filling. Great room rates. Good location/home base - except for one day trip to the Boise National Forest, I walked, bused, or rode a scooter everywhere. I felt safe here as a solo female traveler despite all the poor reviews that, to be honest, had me questioning whether or not I should cancel my reservation before my visit. I'm glad I didn't cancel and chose to give Red Lion Downtowner Boise a try instead. Things that didn't bother me but I will confirm for those who do care - no complimentary airport shuttle despite the website listing that as an amenity, shower drains slowly, the hallways have outdated carpets that need replacing, my desk chair was broken, bar/restaurant still closed, and there appeared to be homeless FAMILIES that stayed here also. I stress that they were families because I think children shouldn't be on the streets and I would stay here again knowing this. I want to support/patron a business that helps keep those children off the streets.

I'm usually not one who writes lengthy reviews, but I feel like this visit warrants it. The only good thing about this hotel really is that you are close to downtown Boise, other than that the experience was pretty unpleasant. First off, the line to get checked in took us 45 minutes to get through. There was one poor employee at the desk trying to juggle the huge line, phone calls, and other customer issues at the same time. I don't know if the hotel can't hire enough people or if there was a scheduling mishap but it definitely needs to be addressed. As for the room.. the AC didn't work properly and it was hot and muggy the whole time. There were stains all over the floor, half the light bulbs were constantly flickering, and there was a healthy amount of mold in the shower and on the bathroom walls. Shower curtain wouldn't stay in place making it impossible to keep water from splashing everywhere. Also, the door was wide open when we first got to it.. I'm not sure if the cleaning crew forgot to close it but it doesn't really make one feel comfortable that the door was open upon arrival. Overall, a very unpleasant experience. Will not consider this hotel for future stays.

We had no problem checking in but as we were coming and going throughout the night there was always a line and just one worker. The system seems to be outdated so it probably made her job less efficient. The hallways and lobby were muggy and hot but luckily our room wasn't horrible. Beds were clean and comfortable for the most part. The room was ok but the cleaners could use some extra training. There were little black hairs all over the bathroom. The pool was also closed for maintenance and the pool was a big reason we even stayed here so my boys could swim. I think this hotel just needs some love and updating. I wouldn't even leave a review normally but it was pricey to stay here so I want other guests to know what they are in for. I think for the price you should shop around for better hotels.

Hotel has seen better days but was just fine for a few days while visiting family. Nice buffet breakfast and pleasant service. Room was clean, bed firm and plenty of hot water for showering. Quiet water-cooled AC kept the room cool even though the hallways were warm. Elevator good! Pool was welcome relief during hot weather. The hotel was close enough to the Boise River and Greenbelt walk/bike path that good walkers can easily enjoy that wonderful amenity. The elaborate skateboard park under the nearby elevated highway looked like a great idea. Fun to watch learners and the more skillful. Also, there is a truly beautiful and unusual carved wood mural extending from the breakfast area along the lobby and behind the main staircase. Worth a look! They are short-staffed enough so that no one was at the lobby counter when we wanted to check out so we just left our key cards. Staff meeting, another guest said.

The frontdesk staff was extremely friendly and very helpful any time we needed any help. The housekeeping in the room was okay but could be much better. There was hair in our tub and a few other items that were obviously missed in the room. Overall, we had a wonderful trip.

Doesn't match the expectations based on the description of what I paid for. Booked a room for five nights. Checked in and found out the hot tub is broken. That was a disappointment till I realized how filthy this place is. So I went and bought a UV light.... I strongly recommend looking for a room somewhere else. The house keepers have not checked or serviced the room even once during my stay and their work ethic stains the halls.

The staff is really kind, and the lady who checked us in was very personable, but the hotel itself was a little sketch. The lobby definitely needs a remodel and needs to be cleaned. The room was okay, having a balcony was nice but the room had a weird smell to it and we could clearly hear the people above us walking around super early in the morning.

I'm never one to write reviews, but I feel like I need to just to let others know, this is not your typical Red Lion. Upon check in, there was only 1 person at the desk, who was trying to handle a difficult person on the phone and developing a long line. She did great under all circumstances. But it is apparent that management doesn't care about their staff nor invest in this location. Upon entering our room it was 80 degrees and a/c was buzzing and not working. Then we used the restroom and discovered the toilet didn't flush. After discovering a/c wasn't working; we were going to open up door to outside since we were on bottom floor and discovered our door didn't lock. That's when we decided to go see if there was another room available; actually we first sought after a refund to go look elsewhere. But no refund was available; so the nice gal at the front offered to put us in a different room and bring a roll away bed. Mind you, we were told the roll away bed would be brought sooner than later, which did happen, but it was the same gal who was doing check in and answering phones. I'm not sure how management expects 1 person to do it all?! We just stayed at another Red Lion in Washington a few weeks ago and it's night and day difference. This place has stopped being invested in way back in the 90's. Furniture was dirty, torn, and our first room also smelled of cat litter. Please, save yourself time, money, headache, and sanity and do not stay here. We've been in our new room for at least an hour now and even with having a/c on 60 since entering it is still 78 degrees. If I could rate less; I would.

This hotel was highly disappointing for charging $200 for a one night stay. We were only there for 30 minutes before asking for a refund, which the front desk provided without issue. The top sheet on the bed had a fresh notable red/brown stain and there was hair strands both beds. The floor was so disgusting my children's feet were black from just being barefoot on the floor making me believe they did not/don't mop. The pool patio, pool, and hot tub looked very unappealing and dirty. We specifically booked the "poolside room" for my kids to enjoy. I took pictures but posting them is not an option. The website said they had a restaurant and lounge only to discover it was closed down. Not to mention the email confirmation gave us the wrong address saying they are 1800 w. Fairview when in actuality they are 1800 Fairview. The address difference would not have been such a big deal if it wasn't compounded with all the other issues we confronted. Would definitely not recommend staying here.

Rooms are nice and large and clean, the bed is comfy, the price can't be beat. They are dog friendly. The hotel is very dated. Old, dirty, duct taped carpet in the halls and lounge. I did hear that it is getting ready to undergo renovations. The restaurant and bar are closed but you can bring your own food and drinks (even alcohol) and use the bar games area which is kinda cool, I guess. Sort of a BYOB bar and restaurant. The front desk staff was nice and professional but a lot of the clientele is less than savory. Several times, I witnessed customers yelling at the staff about not wanting to leave their room on time after being given an extra hour and a half already, one couple threatening to call the police if they weren't given extra sheets etc. etc. The elevator is really loud. We could hear it all night from three doors down. Cleaning staff was very loud while cleaning rooms mifd day, yelling to each other down the hall from room to room. Hubby was napping while I was in a conference call so it was really disruptive.

Stayed one night on a road trip down to Texas and was pleasantly impressed. Got a room for $64 (including tax) and felt that was adequate for the conditions (a bit dated and dirty hotel all around). Rooms looked pretty clean, and beds were a bit worn but comfortable for an overnight stay. Friendly hotel staff. Would definitely come back but not pay more than $70 a night. Also want to check out the breakfast next time; it came highly recommended.

This place is so wonderful. I had a horrible experience at the Super8 in Boise and they have totally been taking care of us. I can't even with how wonderful they have been. And even if my family and I weren't in a bad way, this place: great beds, nice decor, yeah its old but it's still doing great. The food!!! So good. Such a good, hearty, delicious breakfast and for so cheap! 5-Stars is not enough. Becky, Heather, and Sarah - thank you thank you thank you!!

Each time I have stayed here, the staff have always been super friendly and helpful. From the front desk, housekeeping to the maintenance crew, there hasn't been one bad experience! The rooms are a little dated, but the beds and pillows are comfortable. The breakfast was pretty good as well, although it isn't free.

  • 3/5 Justin G. 9 months ago on Google
Service was great. Rooms were good. We had a room right beside the pool where we just walked out right to the pool. Now the bad we were charged before we even showed up at the hotel even though it said we would be charged at the hotel. We walked to our room at about 245 and they still had dirty plates and all the dirty laundry outside the rooms that had been cleaned that day. But I'm not saying we wouldn't try them again. Maybe it was just an off day for them.

Here on a 3 night work stay. My room was nice and clean, when I told the front desk my TV didn't work they came up and fixed it for me. Most all the staff was very kind and friendly. The morning buffet is $7 a person, and that is the only thing for $7 I was not impressed with... They have a pool and hot tub, also a gym! They have nice large .eating rooms, and coffee and water for your enjoyment. I'd recommend staying here to others. Your a couple blocks away from food/gas stations/and grocery store.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. This is hands down the most disgusting hotel I have ever experienced. The carpet is being held together by duct tape. The AC was running in my room but my room was still 80 degrees. The office chair, accent chair, and bathroom door had tears and rips in them. There was mold on the ceiling of the shower. The bed drooped so much in the middle that my body was literally a V. I was afraid to sleep on the mattress/bed because the uncleanliness and fear of bed bugs/disease. I will ABSOLUTELY never stay in a Red Lion property ever again and push people away from that brand. You should avoid this hotel at all costs!

Room was dirty. Walking in sock made bottom of sock black dirty. 1 coffee cup for 2 people. No drinking glass. Lights burnt out. Mirrored closet door broken. Access key would not work on some doors. No eggs for breakfast. Bar was closed as was the restaurant, which both advertised as being open. Would not recommend anyone to stay there

I wanted to share my experience staying at this Hotel. I decided to stay here due to the fact that my father would take us to this Hotel when we needed to stay in Redding California. We always enjoyed our time there. When I arrived I noticed that the Hotel was an older one but to me that means all of the new smells would be out of it. I received great service at the front desk and was given a room that stayed cool during a very hot time of the year. I worked out at the gym in the morning and the staff was very friendly. The nice thing is that the Hotel is close to the Police Station, which means stress of having my car broken into was not issue. The only problem I had was the I was over charged for my stay. They had charged me two extra times. So when I arrived home I had checked my bank account and noticed the extra charges. I worked w/ the people at the front desk plus the manager Phil. Phil was able to find the problem and resolved as quickly as possible. I was refunded the money and was impressed by the staff's attitude in resolving the issue. Every business is going to make a mistake... The good ones know how to make it right. Thank you for good service and resolution to the overcharge.

Horrible place to stay. I traveled 5 hours to Boise and had booked a room at the Red Lion. We checked in around 8:00 PM and when we got to the room it was so hot. Boise was 103 this day so it would of been nice to have a cool place to sleep. We left out to eat hoping the room was just cleaned and that the AC had been turned on. We came back at 1:00 AM. The room was an oven and the AC or what they call a swamp cooler system was not cooling the room. I went down to the front desk to see if we could get a refund. We were told to talk to the manager in the morning, which didn’t help things that night. With no help from the front desk we left the room and traveled 5 hours back home. We couldn’t find any other hotel room on a Saturday night, so this is why we drove. I called the hotel the next day and they gave me the managers (Phil) number. I left a message and still no word. Poor service quality!! Don’t stay here!!!!!

The one good thing about this hotel was the front desk employee. She was nice. Unfortunately, that’s the only nice thing I have to say about this hotel. If I could give zero stars I would. I paid for a premium king room online but there was nothing premium about my room at all. I was put in a room sharing a wall with the old, run down elevator that ran all night and it was so loud I could not sleep at all. I asked to move my room and was told there was nothing else available. To make things even worse, my telephone in my room didn’t work and didn’t even have a dial tone to call the front desk when I needed. I tried to turn on the heater since it was cold in the room and the heater did not work at all. This hotel is old and really run down. If you want a good night sleep, do not stay here!

My bf, brother and I ended up having to stay here back in 2019. We were riding the greyhound bus and missed our connection there in Boise so greyhound paid for us to stay here. It was an overall good experience. The room was clean, the beds were firm, and the front desk person was very friendly even though she thought my bf was also my brother. The front desk person helped us out and told us were the nearest restaurant was, and suggested a one she would go to. They even came and got us from the greyhound bus station, along with a couple others who missed they're connections. I would definitely stay here again if I had to and I would recommend it to a friend.

Room was good, service was great. Our company put one of our employees up here for the week, and he had presented his card when he arrived, long story short the company card was supposed to be the card charged but his was charged by accident. Heather was great and rectified the situation, crediting the employees card and charging the business card. Great customer service, will definitely continue doing business with them!

The staff is kind and genuine. Breakfast is great for $7. Coffee and tea are always available. A workout room if you can after bacon 💪🏻💜 A safe, clean and lovely place to stay! Becky especially 🌈 absolutely sweet staff. I am so thankful 😘

The hallway in the old section has ducttape all over the carpet patching tons of holes. Our toilet was clogged when we first arrived and the front desk just gave us a plunger which didn't fix it. They tried moving us to a different room but the two rooms they tried to move us to were both occupied and they had no idea. The room itself was nice and clean with a good TV and a mini fridge + microwave. Had the toilet not been clogged upon our arrival and if they knew what rooms were actually occupied we would have stayed but checked out of our original 1 week stay after the first night. I draw the line at hotels that can't be bothered to know what rooms are occupied and by who

The manager Phil went above and beyond with accommodating.... The housekeeping young man was so super sweet!! The front desk Becky was super kind and very helpful. The staff are the ones who made this place worth the stay. The new maintenance man was extremely helpful as well. Thank you staff!!! For that reason alone I will be back on my next job's in that location.

Staff was friendly and responsive, but there was very few of them, and none had two beds. The rollaway was comfortable, but not for more than a night or two. The facility is old and tired and in need of simple maintenance. Only part of the rooms are available due to the city using the other rooms for the homeless. There is no restaurant or bar on site anymore, although they still do breakfast. Used to enjoy staying here, but not so much anymore.

Huge shout out to Crystal at the front desk! Really nice clean room with a view and a balcony! Great rate overall even with a last minute booking. Great breakfast served! Friendly and staff! Will definitely be staying again and recommend you come stay too!
