We made a reservation as we have a large family. We were there to celebrate our 2 year anniversary of arriving home with a few teenage siblings, adopted from Ukraine. We hoped the food would be a familiar comfort to them. It definitely was! They were so excited to taste each dish and savor those flavors!! And the rest of us enjoyed food and drinks that where new to us. Everything was beautifully plated and delicious. In addition to the amazing food was the beautiful artwork and decor! Lastly, was the hospitality. You enter as strangers but leave feeling more like family. We feel blessed to have celebrated our special occasion there. Don't hesitate, go visit them asap...you'll love it!

I had dinner here last night, & everything was absolutely perfect. There wasn’t a single thing I tried that I didn’t like. I think between the whole table, we had almost everything on the menu, and everything was just fabulous. I honestly don’t have enough good things to say about them. The honey cake was so light and just the perfect level of sweetness. The vegetarian borscht was a very light soup, & you can’t tell that it’s made of beets at all. The beef stroganoff was a warm divine heaven. And the people. You can’t find better people than this. They’re so personable, they spent time telling us how the food was made, how they came to own the restaurant. You can definitely tell this is a family owned restaurant. Everything is made with love. I’m so mad at myself for spending a year in Boise & not knowing about this restaurant until I am about to move. Do yourself a favor & go the next day they are open. The reason they’re closed on certain days is to prep food, and it shows. Moral of this review: go as soon as possible.

Had a great visit here, the food is absolutely amazing! Highly recommend the Pilmeni, and cheburek. The ladies here are very welcoming and make sure to cater to your requests. Russian food is generally pricey because ingredients are expensive. This is better than most places in the area, and less expensive.

A few days ago I had a privilege of dining at a very fine Russian restaurant, in Boise Idaho, “Alyonka”. My experience was extraordinary. First off, the building was very clean and very inviting. The service was exceptional, Liza was our hostess. The food was so good, I would not have enough words to describe it. Elena, brought a five star restaurant from the heart of Russia to Boise. I will take a five hour drive again, just do visit this restaurant.

Delicious food and friendly service!!! We have been wanting to come here and finally made it. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. We brought a friend for her birthday and although they were busy we never felt rushed. We ordered appetizers that were awesome, wonderful authentic entrées and dessert. This is a small restaurant where each item is made to order and you can taste it 😋. I would recommend Alyonka! We are actually taking friends from out of town on Saturday. Thank you for the wonderful meal and service.

From the east coast to the west coast, I have never had an experience as incredible as our experience here. I hardly even know where to begin, as the food, wait staff, atmosphere, and everything was just so awesome. Appetizers wise, we ordered the shuba, which was very good, and was a great start to our meal. The entrees and the desserts were the highlights for sure though. My wife and I ordered the pelmeni with the broth, as it's a dish that we have tried to make many times, and wanted to see how the pros would do it. It was exceptional, flavored excellently with a really smooth texture. Our friends got the stroganoff, the vareniki, and the shish kebabs. They were equally as impressive, and the portion sizes were just right. The desserts were out of this world. Similar to the pelmeni, our friend often makes pavlovas, and Alyonka blew us away again. We ended up eating and scraping the plates clean of all five desserts on the menu. The poppyseed ganache cake was my personal favorite, and my wife liked the honey cake the most. All five desserts were incredibly fluffy, creamy, crunchy with nuts, and fruity in all the places they needed to. The staff were the best part though. Oh my goodness, just...wow. So incredibly friendly. The waitresses were so fun to talk with, and they gave us excellent recommendations, talked to us, got to know us, and were so pleasant to speak with. The chef/master of desserts was also friendly and came out and talked with us for a while as well. I've never service so personal as this, and between that, the food, and the nice, small and cozy atmosphere, I honestly can't remember or think of a better restaurant I've had, whether it's west coast, east coast, anywhere. And right here, in little Boise, Idaho. Thanks for the experience!

Simply the best! We all know Boise is not very diverse and it’s so hard to come across a non-American food THIS GOOD! From the moment we walked into Alyonka’s cute restaurant we fall in love with how cozy it was and the ethnic atmosphere. The foods are amazing and totally taste like homemade foods and very high quality. Can’t wait to go back and try rest of their menus.

My god what great food. The whole family agreed everything was yummy and nothing was left behind. Was a little spendy but we felt it was worth it. Thanks for such good home style food and the time put in the serve these dishes to me and my family. Will definitely be back!

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been too. Hands down some of the best beverages and food I’ve been served in a very long time. I recommend the hibiscus tea lemonade for a refreshing summer drink and you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. The goulash was so good that I devoured the entire thing before our entrees arrived, much to the dismay of my fellow diners at my table. The dumplings are fantastic as well, but I had to take them home because I filled up on the tea and goulash. A reservation is a must here as well. Next time I am in Boise I will be back.

Food was absolutely fantastic. Definitely a little fancier and pricier than my norm but it's a great spot for a special night. Service was lovely. I ordered the lemon mousse dessert and some version of a chicken kabob entree-- both excellent. Recommend a reservation as it is a small place. Please check them out!

This place is awesome! The lady who owns the place was kind, and very excited to have us try her food! Every thing we tried was amazing. The flavors were comparable to if my own grandmother were to make it, much much better than the other Russian restaurants I've been to. Will definitely be coming back on my travels. спасибо за отличную еду!

This place is bomb.com!! Super good and fresh food! I myself am slavic so when I tried this food, it tasted just like home! True authenticity. The owner herself came to chat with us at our table and told us about her story of the restaurant and it was amazing to see how much they were able to accomplish in just 2 years of being in business. I highly reccomend this place! Very very good true russian food!

Had the salad platter and Borscht-- amazing! The cauliflower chicken salad (far right in the pic) was so flavorful -- couldn't really taste the cauliflower because everything blended together so well! The smoked salmon gouda (far left in pic) was .... I have no words to explain ....mind blowing and delicious!

I’ve never tried Russian food before, but today I’m thanking myself. The Palmeni and Honey Cake were just amazing on a chilly winter day. Between the generous fresh dill, flavorful meat filling, perfectly cooked dough, and savory broth, the Palmeni was a comforting introduction to Russian cuisine. The honey cake… I don’t generally go for dessert when I’m eating out, but I couldn’t pass it up when I saw it. Supremely light and moist. A little bit on the pricey side, but the location is very quaint, clean, and tastefully decorated, not to mention the great service. I’ll be trying the beef stroganoff when I come back, but I’m really hoping the honey cake is still on the menu!

I'm impressed! I tried Alyonka for the first time last night and it's definitely added to my list of favorites. everyone was kind and professional. Service was quick. The restaurant is just darling inside and so unique. The food was PERFECT. Since Elena knew we hadn't been in, she made sure to ask how we felt about everything we tried. Their iced Hibiscus tea and pear lemonade were like nothing I've ever had before, definitely a must try. Give them a try and go support a local restaurant!

Definitely a jem. Was traveling back home to WA and decided to stop by Boise for the first time and I'm so happy we found this place. Food is delicious, it's like eating my grandma's homemade dinner meal. I'm glad I made a reservation, when we came at 5pm it was just us, and within 20min it was packed with people waiting outside.

We ordered take out this evening on this chilly Fall night...it was PERFECT! The Stroganoff is yummy and the Borscht (with the broth) is so comforting with good flavor. We also tried the Pork Shish Kebab for the first time - did't disappoint. I'm so glad this jewel of a restaurant has survived the Pandemic so far.....and I hope now that Winter is coming we can all support you with take-out, since outdoor dining will go away.

A wonderful food experience and small insights into Russian cuisine. We weee fortunate to be seated in a Friday evening without a reservation. We opted to share two appetizers, 1. “”Shuba” Layered salad - smoked salmon, potatoes, carrots, beets, with mayo touch”, 2. “Assorted Blini Platter Six plain crapes served with ground beef and vegetable filling, smoked salmon, and sour cream on a side”. Both were delicious. Our server was kind enough to share pronunciation and traditional and preferred ways of experiencing the dishes. The pricing for menu items are mid-high for Bouse, but portions are nice size and shareable. We will definitely return for another gastro adventure.

Very good food and service, only thing I wish was the portions were larger for the price. The prices are pretty steep. Be ready to spend about 50-100 for two people.

This is the best Russian food I’ve had. The restaurant is very intimate, clean and inviting. Portions are generous, food is presented nicely. Some top recommendations are the salad sampler, olivie, shuba, crapes, stroganoff, and golubtsi. All the deserts are phenomenal too!

  • 5/5 Elle W. 7 months ago on Google
Food was amazing. So flavorful and a great variety. Appetizer was shuba - a layered smoked salmon salad and a caviar blini platter Main courses were stroganoff, pelmeni in broth and lamb plof Dessert: honey cake, royal poppyseed chocolate ganache cake and pavlova Everything was amazing - favorites were the shuba, pelmeni and honey cake

  • 5/5 Craig F. 2 years ago on Google
Wow. So good. The beef stroganoff was amazing. Then when we left they sent us away with the royal poppy seed ganache cake. (See photo) Don’t be alarmed when you go in, it’s tiny but super warm and welcoming. You’ll love it.

Easily in the top 10 best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Everything we tried was incredibly fresh and unique. The staff was incredibly kind and passionate. They clearly love their job. The salad platter and chicken noodle soup are a must and please save room for the honey cake and lemon mousse! Everything has a lightness to it that leaves you feeling great after the meal like amazing home cooked food. We loved it so much on our visit to Idaho that we came here twice to try more things on the menu. This place is special.

Simple delicious, I’ve dined here twice now & both were fantastic! You know those special places where the food feels like it was literally made with love? This is one of those spots. I hadn’t had Russian food before & Alyonka showed me what I had been missing!

  • 5/5 Katherine K. 1 year ago on Google
Really great Russian food. We were greeted warmly when we walked in and the owner was amazing and friendly to everyone in the restaurant. We came for lunch and decided to try the hibiscus iced tea it has black and red currant, raspberries , apples, and is sweetened with honey. It is an amazing drink! We ordered the blini Russian crepes and the pelmeni. The blini is a good fresh light lunch that comes with salmon and caviar. I'm a fan of any kind of dumplings and have a soft spot for the pelmeni, which comes with enough to feed you if you are hungry. If you are unsure of what to order pelmeni is the safe but delicious way to go!

This best meal I’ve had in 2022!!! Every aspect from our experience was wonderful. For appetizers we had the meat chebureki, such a crispy outside with perfectly seasoned filling. We also got the borscht which was wonderful I could eat it daily on cold days. For our entrees we had the Stroganoff which was rich, creamy and delicious but the vareniki was my favorite part of the experience. The wrapper was the perfect thickness offering a wonderful bite and the potato within was perfectly seasoned and so fluffy. We finished the meal off with some poppy seed chocolate ganache cake and a honey cake which were so good and so pretty I regret not getting pictures🥲. Overall 10/10 will be back again!!!

We had a lovely evening tonight dining with friends. I’ve never experienced “Russian food” so really had no idea what to expect. We ordered heavy appetizers because it gave us lots of flavors to try and then we also ordered some main dishes. Of course we finished with a sampling of her desserts! I enjoyed every morsel 😋 Also, very thoughtful service.

Wonderful experience, superb service and tasty cuisine. Our kids enjoyed tasting Russian/Ukrainian food for the first time. We had the assorted Blini (crepes), the dumplings (vareniki), and some borscht. We topped it off with two pieces of Honey cake (Medovik)—super light and moist with just the right amount of sweetness

Elena is SO nice! I came today to try them out and got there at 11 AM and they didn't open until 12 PM. So I waited in the parking lot until they were open. Elena came out a bit early to check on me and invited me in early! I got the Shuba salad and it was delicious!! Not normally something I would try, but I was willing to try something new! I went for pirozhki, but it wasn't going to be ready for a couple of hours. I wasn't going to be in town by then. Next time :D I also got the walnut looking cookies with almond filling! So good! They had a lot of delicious looking things!❤ I need to go back!

Nothing is better than food recommendations from friends who are familiar with specific types of foods. They have tastes buds that have been well trained to recognize the OG when they taste it. It definitely gives my taste buds the confidence to travel to uncharted territories and try something new with confidence. And Alyonka Russian Cuisine did not fail me. There's a mixture of Cafe and upscale restaurant feel to this place. The service received was very professional, informative and pleasant. I'm not very familiar with Russian food, but I can say with my experience here the food is subtle but you can still taste the distinction of the herbs that peek through. The cherbureki has a flaky crust that encases the meat filling so delightfully while the gouda spread reminded me of the holiday cheese ball that would be made at my fancy aunt's house for the holiday, once every couple of years. The bilini Russian crepes has a hint of sweetness that balances the salty taste of the caviar and salmon, creating a nice soft fluffy balance with the thick coat of sour cream. The beef stroganoff was a safe bet for my husband with once again a hint of an herb I cannot put my finger on. And ofcourse, the pelmini with broth, my true love for dumplings. There's always an expectation of taste when food resembles your taste buds' childhood friend. The taste of pork can never become a stranger of the past, but once again the hint of an herb lingers there. There definitely is not a hint sweetness as one would find in asian dumplings, but it it still delicious in its own way. Overall we were very happy that we ventured to our Boise's Russia for this food adventure, for our tummies were full and our taste buds pleasantly surprised.

Do not walk, run to Alyonka. Not only is this amazing authentic food but the owner and her husband are some of the nicest people. My friend and I got 3 appetizers and an entree each and we were so happy with everything, we had to be rolled out the doors at the end. 10/10 will be going to get food from there more regularly.

Extremely impressed by the quality of food and service at Alyonka. The atmosphere was quaint and elegant. Hands down the best beef stroganoff I’ve ever had! The Pelmeni and Plum Lemonade were absolutely delicious as well. Worth every penny!

My primary introduction into Russian cuisine. I attended with my Belorussian girlfriend who mentioned it felt and tasted like home. Will be returning soon. Some staff speak Russian, which was super cool. Highly recommend the Shuba, dumplings with mushrooms, and honey cake. Don’t forget the iced honey hibiscus tea.

  • 5/5 Mary B. 3 years ago on Google
The food was phenomenal! My husband lived in Russia for two years, and he said this is the most authentic Russian food he has found in the states! It was delicious. I particularly liked the pirozhki and pelmeni, and my husband liked the stuffed pepper. 20/10 would recommend! They are pretty busy, so I would call ahead and get a reservation.

I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could! We went last night for the first time and loved it! The food was amazing, and the service was great! We will definitely be back to try to rest of the menu.

  • 5/5 Sarah C. 3 years ago on Google
I'm ashamed I waited so long to get a take out order. I got about half the menu, and every last bite was so satisfying and wholesome on a cool fall day. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and everyone was wearing a mask. If you missed the Russian Food Festival this year, like everyone else, this is everything good, upgraded. No matter what, get the both the carrot and mushroom salads - they go with everything ❤️

I have noting but kind and complimentary words to say about this restaurant, the owner, and her staff. I have been twice now for lunch and have ordered the borsht, pirozhkis (meat and veggie), and hibiscus currant hot tea. The honey cake and/or poppy seed ganache are a must try! Made in house and so delicious. Sadly I did not take pictures. I highly recommend supporting this local restaurant.

Authentic Russian "comfort food" (as I would refer to it) prepared as it would be if your Russian babushka were serving dinner to her favorite grandchildren. Russian cuisine is not like French cuisine - complicated and meticulous. Russian food is mostly straightforward and sincere. The secret ingredient that makes Russian food so wonderful and delicious is, I am convinced, love! Head chef and restaurateur, Elena, wants your experience with Alyonka to be enjoyable, and she prepares her culinary delights with great care and commitment to excellence. The preponderance of highly favorable reviews for Alyonka speaks for itself. It's different. It's unique. It's very uncomplicated. It's delicious! Alyonka is a comfortable, sit-down (inside or out) restaurant that also offers pick-up window services. This reviewer recommends the chiburiki (fried, seasoned meats in a pastry-like "pocket") and pelmini (meat filled dumplings - the ultimate Russian comfort food!). And don't leave without having a piece of homemade Russian honey cake or lemon poppy seed cake (my personal favorite). Vkoosnyih!

I ordered Pelmeni for curbside pickup and was really disappointed on the portion size. It was on the menu for $15.95 and was 12.5 fluid oz of food (I was upset so I measured when I got home) I actually double checked to make sure I didn’t get an appetizer by mistake. It was tasty, but very small!

Try the borscht soup! It's really good! And the shuba salad is amazing! And the honey cake is delicious!!!

Alyonka was a charming restaurant with INCREDIBLE food. Appetizers, entrées, and desserts were all phenomenally tasty. I would honestly come back just to make sure I've tried everything on the menu!! The chef, Elena, personally came to our table to see how we were enjoying it, and we had nothing but positive feedback!! Our server was also very kind and attentive. I would absolutely return and am already elated for my next visit. Also noteworthy is that they are the sole carriers of the Russian beer, Baltika, in the area, with several varieties available. We went with a group so we all sampled each other's dishes, so we tried (and LOVED) the following dishes: Hot Appetizers - Chebureki - Blini Russian Crepes (all three varieties) Entrees - Pork Shish Kebab - Stuffed Sweet Pepper - Pelmeni (which is especially good if you scoop a little bit of sour cream into your spoon before going for the wonton in its broth) Desserts - Napoleon Cake - Royal Poppy Seed Ganache Cake - Honey Cake I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone, especially if you are looking to try something new.

This place has by far the best Russian food I have tried in the United States - I've lived in New York and California where Russian communities are very big but I haven't tried such delicious and homemade-like food. Please go there and give it a try - I guarantee you will be coming back! Elena, the kitchen chef is an extremely pleasant and welcoming person, as well as the rest of their staff. Great place!
