Unbelievable dining experience. My husband and I came in for our anniversary and enjoyed every bite. The cocktails were delicious, our server, Austin, was so helpful and delightful, and the food was the best we’ve eaten. (Highly recommend the cauliflower app. Also, props to them for being able to make their curry brisket into a vegan dish!) If the chef here ever opens a restaurant of his own, Boise would be so lucky. In the meantime, the Modern is our new go-to place for exceptional food and drink.

Don’t overlook Modern Bar as a great spot to go for any night out. Small enough inside to be intimate but the patio area opens up if fresh air is what you’re looking for. The drinks are top-notch, with a full bar stocked with quality spirits. New drinks frequent the menu and new faces frequent the space ready to talk all things Boise and afar. Share drinks and stories at this downtown staple.

Hands down favorite fine dining in Boise. The food is always consistently good. The menu is creative and highlights seasonal ingredients. Cauliflower is always a favorite.

Third time here, and we have been surprised and delighted with our meal every time. Everything from the appetizers to the main and the dessert show how inventive and passionate the chef is about food. Cocktails are delicious, but my husband and I actually enjoyed the Garden Ball mocktail as much, if not more. The vibe is great, it can be as casual or fancy as you want it to be. It’s the first restaurant on our list when we think of celebrating a birthday or a night out with friends.

Absolutely an incredible dining experience! If this place were in a high volume market (like LA or Orange County), there would be discussions of Michelin stars.... The Halibut dish I had was the best seafood meal I have ever had - and I have eaten more than most, living and traveling extensively on the California coast. I was stunned to have a meal like this so far from the ocean, but Boise is a source of surprise! Wife loved her roasted duck and the summer squash appetizer was excellent too. I can't get over how unexpected it was to have this in the little, unassuming hotel where we were staying.

Wow, how have I lived in Boise for 3 years & not experienced the Modern until just this week? I have been missing out!!! We stopped in for the last round of Campfire Stories that was being held in the Modern Courtyard. Sweet Zoey was super helpful in getting us a little corner table even tho we didn't have reservations. She was attentive all night; and just the right amount! Not overbearing at all. The food. Oh my Goodness! We started with the Bread & Butter. (see photo) This is no ordinary butter. Something about this salted butter sent my tastebuds into high gear! Def. give it a shot. I ordered the Beet Salad as my main. The presentation was stunning. I enjoyed every single bite that I swirled around the sauces & purees. I SUPER enjoyed my cocktail as well! So fun to see something that included Pisco on a menu! I feel like I never see that in Boise. It was super delish! Honestly, we can't wait to come back! Thank you for such a lovely experience!!!!!!

Food is absolutely delicious, with a rich mix of textures and flavors, drinks were equally great although I do wish there had been some pairings offered with the specific dishes! The staff we interacted with was very nice, I do wish the room was bigger for more quiet dining, but didn't take away from how incredibly good the food is!

A seriously hidden gem. By far the best meal we had in boise, and honestly the one of the best meals we’ve had in the last year. Sitting on the patio at around sundown was an immaculate vibe. Fresh and clean ingredients and masterful balancing of flavors. Amazing craft cocktails and a great beer selection too. The staff were amazing special thanks to Ari! Patio is dog friendly.

My compliments to the chef. This food was so fresh and delicious. The taste was perfectly balanced and pleasing to all the senses. It was light, rich and flavorful. I’m very particular about the quality of my food and I don’t have a single complaint. My server Taryn was very courteous and attentive. I highly recommend supporting this very special small business. I will remember this meal for a long time.

A wonderfully eclectic place to stay. Somehow they converted a motel into a a total experience with great hospitality, terrific food and drink, and more than a touch of ambience. Personable and welcoming staff.

The food is incredible here. We were visiting Boise and picked the place based on a web site recommendation. Never regretted the choice. If we were local to Boise, we would be regular at this place.

I go to this restaurant quarterly, I wont lie it is a little more than what my typical budget allows. Be that as it may, it is worth it every time. Our typical server is Austin, constantly attentive with a great sense of humor this restaurant serves only the freshest and top quality of foods. I don't think a lot of folks think of it as Chandlers seems to be the go to place but given the choice I come here every time. Smaller portions bursting with flavor be sure to order a few dishes to sample the best of Boise. Dishes here are full flavor, meaning if you order something with Lemon it wont be the only thing you taste. Can not recommend this establishment more.

The one and only Treefort venue I made it to and glad I did! It's not just the hotel's retro design but the pseudo low-key vibe, comfortably on the fringes of the madding crowd, with an subtle, unassuming ambiance that attracts but doesn't overwhelm ... compatible with music from the Bellingham, Washington girls band, Valley Cats featuring a genre so confounding that it was undefinable yet captivatingly energetic , almost 70s-era groovy. I'm about as far away from a music critic that one could be so trust me when I say they were good, my entirely arbitrary and uninformed assessment. But try and argue with me, given that we were all standing there braving the elements in 15-20 degree Temps where I could feel goosebumps forming on my earlobes, a condition Hungarians call ill babure (phonetic spelling). And, informal E-scooter parking!

Small dishes farm to table style great for sharing. The food here is amazing. Great, quality ingredients done in unique ways. Small intimate setting with some outside seating as well. Our favorite place in Boise.

Would have been perfect if they were more open to us doing a photoshoot. Would ha e made good promotions for the business. My pages have thousands of organic followers but we were not made to feel welcome. 😔 Not going to tag or promote this location

Highly recommended for outstanding food and great service. Wine list is outstanding with a very deft sommelier who goes outside the mainstream and find the somm picks you should try. This is not the place for the steakhouse crowd, this is the kind of place that fits in a hip San Francisco or LA neighborhood. Chef prepared the food well but occasionally ventured too deeply into the acid side of flavors. A journey a really like but when done across too many dishes can quickly become one noted. I thought it was fine, my dinner company thought it was too deep into that flavor. Appropriate sized portions and amazing cocktails. I was surprised at finding this gem if a restaurant in Boise, I may have to fly up from SF to have dinner more often... Highly recommended!

A hidden gem in my opinion. Nice to get off the beaten path of 8th St. From time to time and explore what the Modern has to offer. I honestly haven’t had much food here but it’s always been good. The cocktails are great as well. Nice outdoor space during the warmer months and all around great atmosphere.

Killer cocktail bar. They know their booze and probably make the best drinks in Boise on just about any given day. Staff are pros. The patio is great, even when it's cold out. The indoor area is small, but nice too.
