I really enjoyed my food tour with Gabriele! He was an amazing tour guide with lots of knowledge about food and Bologna! The food was so good, loved it. We had a fantastic group of people on the tour, and I ended up making friends with 3 ladies who were there for the same expo I was, and we went for dinner the next 3 nights! A must-do for any visit to Bologna! I'm very glad I picked Secret Food Tours and look forward to doing more tours with them when I'm back in Europe later this year.

Absolutely appalling behaviour. This morning’s tour cancelled 15 minutes after it was due to start, allegedly because the guide had FOOD POISONING - not a good advert for a FOOD TOUR, makes you wonder where they take you to eat. I have been offered a free tour IF I take this review down, which I’m not willing to do, I think it’s right people get the full story. But it does make you wonder about how genuine the ratings are here…

This was so great! I don’t normally do tours but this was gifted to me for my birthday. Mattia knew so much about food & the city and was an incredible ambassador. I feel like I understand Bologna in a more intimate way, I’m so glad we did this. Highly recommend!

I couldn’t recommend this food tour enough!! I have never done any sort of ‘group’ tour before during my travels, so I really didn’t know what to expect, but it totally took me by surprise. Our guide, Gabriele Comida, was absolutely amazing. He was so knowledgable and the tour was really fun. He took us on a gorgeous route around the local vendors and everything went so smoothly. What’s more is that we’ve genuinely come away with a lot of knowledge about traditional recipes, local food industries and the certifications to look out for to get the best quality products. THANK YOU :)

The food tour was very informative, delicious, and fun! Gabriele was a wonderful guide, showing us popular shops/osteria/trattoria and explaining about the local dishes. We asked him many Qs about the local food and also got recommendations on local restaurants. Was very interesting to know how the southern Bolognese recipe version is different to the original and why it got adopted more globally. Highly recommend the tour if you are a foodie! :)

A great walk around Bologna, an introduction to the town and its history and most of all a primer in food and drink from Bologna and Emilia Romagna. Mattia was a great guide, very knowledgeable, sharing masses of info.

Gabrielle was incredible and provided a fun and interesting tour sharing so much of his knowledge and experience even after the tour. My trip in Italy truly benefited from the tour with a greater understanding for local specific cuisines. He also looked after me so much being a solo traveller, such a gem!

Yesterday we enjoyed an amazing tour of Bologna with Mattia. So knowledgeable! Arrive hungry, there’s so much to try. As a group of 12 it’s a good number to have others to talk to & get to know each other a bit. Highly recommend - the best tour we have done

Great experience learning about Bologna, seeing authentic food producers and sellers, and tasting delicious foods and wines. Gabriele Comida was a wonderful guide during the tour and was available for questions and recommendations afterwards as well. You might even overlap with Stanley Tucci’s Finding Italy. Highly recommend!

Claire was an amazing guide. Her knowledge of the Bologna food scene is expansive. There's no better way to get a sense and taste of a place than from a true foodie. I highly recommend this tour and Claire!

I'm happy to give this 5 stars as Gabriele our guide was superb. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about the food. All the food we tried was of the highest quality. However, I do feel that the tour is rather expensive for what you get in terms of quantity. Do not skip breakfast as other reviews have suggested. We expected to have a coffee at the beginning of the tour. As nice as they were, the pasta sample dishes were very small and left us wanting more food. Ice cream at the end was delicious. Gabriele was very kind in providing us with further recommendations for our time in Bologna and elsewhere in Italy.

loved every stop on this tour, from the cold cuts and wine to vinegar tasting to pasta making and of course GELATO! it was all very delicious and exciting. Gabriele Comida made sure we experience the food capital of the world the right way ! the group was small and everyone was very friendly, highly recommended if you have a day to spend in Bologna.

I wish I could give this tour more stars - we were in Bologna for 4 days and it saved us! We took the tour the first day we were there and we had Caterina and not only did she show us amazing places on the tour, but she went above and beyond giving us an extended list of recommendations for the rest of our trip, recommendations for other cities, shared family recipes, and even made us reservations for dinner when we requested help a few days later. The tour is set up to show you history and amazing restaurants, and having a tour guide who grew up in Bologna was incredible! I couldn't recommend this tour more!

We had an amazing time yesterday with Mattia!! Mattia was so knowledgable and we were lucky to get a free drinks upgrade which was amazing! Mattia is so knowledgeable and welcoming we couldn’t have asked for any better. As a group we bonded and even got some great recommendations for the rest of our holiday! Going on this tour meant that we both tried food out of our normal comfort zone and got to really understand Bologna. Thank you again and we will definitely be on another secret food tour!!!!!!

I came with my wife during honeymoon trip in Jan 2023. It is our best food tour ever in Italy! Our tour lady Caterina Terzaghi was so nice and super experienced in good foods, shops and restaurants. She took us to many best-in-Bologna local shops to taste various kinds of cheese, pasta (especially we saw the hand making process of tortellini in a well known/ private shops factory), salami, hams and gelato! We tried everything during the tour and she also shared many of her grandma’s recipe. It was a very good experience and worth of the price! In fact, the stores she took us during the tour are not always popular on Google (sometimes more tourist recommendations) and if it’s not her tour, we don’t even have the chance to visit them by ourselves (especially for the very unique wine bar “Osteria del Sole”) Lastly, Caterina also recommended us many good local restaurants outside of Bologna when we visited other cities in Verona and Milan. She even recommended and helped us to book a good restaurant since we are not able to speak Italian very well. She’s really nice and responsive on our inquiries even after the tour. Thank you Caterina and we will definitely come back Italy for finding more good foods with experts like you!

What a fabulous experience we had yesterday with Gabriele on the Bologna Secret Food Tour. There were many stops and the experience lasted a very generous 4 hours. The food was plentiful and delicious. The wine was also the perfect accompaniment. Gabriele, who is also a chef, was very knowledgeable about the food and about the city. We had such a great time, thank you!

I have nothing but great things to say about this food tour! Our guide Mattia was so friendly and knowledgeable. He took us to so many places that I wouldn’t have known to go to in Bologna. Every food and drink we sampled was so delicious. A special moment for me was watching tortellini being rolled out, cut, and stuffed right before our eyes in a quaint kitchen. The meat and cheeses we sampled were so rich and flavourful, and our gelato was the best I’ve ever tasted. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bologna!

A first experience with Secret Food Tours and definitely not the last! Bologna is home to so many local delicacies, going on a food tour is easiest to taste your way through the city, make some friends, and get superb recommendations for the remainder of your time. Gabriele (our guide) is a true foodie and you can feel his passion for Bologna as a city, and Italy in general through the way he speaks of their food culture. He presented us with a little treat before starting the food tour 😋 We were brought to a local pasta laboratory to observe fresh pasta being made right infront of us! There was also balsamic vinegar tasting (amazing) at a local wine cellar, a meats-and-cheese platter, a sumptuous lunch (2 types of fresh pasta with butter/sage, and a ragu sauce), wines, a superb gelato, and a surprise treat to end the tour. Overall a wonderful experience (even in the heat of Italian summer).
