3 euros to visit the oldest anatomical theatre was worth every penny. Very cool experience. The wood carvings were beautiful and the marble operating table was a trip. They sure don’t make ‘em like they used to! Humbling experience to see the oldest university in the western world. Only takes about 30 minutes and well worth a stop.

We didn’t plan on visiting this library but we were passing by and the beauty of the frescos attracted us in! Beautiful paintings and coats of arms and pictures! Highly recommended

When you hate your life and you don't like working. You can still sell tickets here at this place. This lady that sells tickets here is a perfect match. 09/08/2023 14:20u

It was all very impressive and beautiful. The entrance fee is 3€ and you get to see the anatomy theatre and the stabat mater room. The whole building is incredible. It is filled with 6000 coats of arms , painted ceilings and statues. The anatomy theatre has the marble table in the middle and wooden carvings on the ceiling and the walls and statues of 20 important doctors of the time. The stabat matter room is magnificent! The decorations are impressive and the books also! A must visit overall when in Bologna.

Don't miss the opportunity to visit this incredibly historic and stunning university, which remains operational to this day. You'll be captivated by its beauty and rich heritage. The best part is, there's no need for a ticket, and it's not crowded at all. Make sure to check it out; it's definitely worth a visit!

The oldest university in the world, absolutely stunning details. I definitely recommend the anatomy room, that leaves you wondering how such intricate, detailed pieces of art can be carved out of Wood. It is the worlds first anatomy study rooms, where the first medical students would study and dicest corpses.

Fantastic place and definitely worth a visit. The entrance is very cheap (3eur) but keep in mind that you might have to reserve online on weekends, as the place gets crowded.

Just a quick spin on this visit, shame because what we saw was fantastic. Visit it again for longer is a must.

Must see when you visit Bologna. Unfortunately you cant visit all of the library for the reason that people read and study there. Its still a library for students and not Disneyland. But the areas open to the public are impressive already.

Definitely check the anatomical theater and library part too. Unfortunately I couldn’t as it was closed due to national holiday but the part that is open to public was also pretty impressive. Possible to see a lot of family crests of graduate students on the walls and ceilings.

Old building of Bologna University which is well worth the short visit. Entry is cheap (€3 per person). Don’t accidentally miss the Stabat Mater room!

The place is beautiful. However, we wanted to enter the library to sit and read and a very rude lady did not allow us to. We explained that we were not going to walk around as tourists but sit and read and asked for an explanation for why we couldn't do that and she refused to explain anything and told us to leave.

For 3 euros you get to see a beautiful anatomical theatre built in the 17th century and a lovely old reading area and a small door where you can peak into the old classrooms. Highly recommended to visit this old university

It was interesting if you read the facts and famous people who were there as Albert Einstein. If you like museums is recommended to you, otherwise better stay away.

Your visit to the palazzo housing the Biblioteca Comunale dell'Archiginnasio will be on your mind for a long time. As soon as you enter, you're greeted with a great looking - and very symmetrical courtyard. Walking up and down hallways and stairways, you see murals, coats of arms and frescoes. The details are stunning. This was a highlight of my visit to Bologna.

The former university building, Archiginnasio di Bologna, has been home to the Biblioteca comunale dell'Archiginnasio since the second half of the 19th century. Just as the building is worth seeing with its architecture, its library is also worth seeing with its inventory. The library is still operating today and cannot be visited entirely for touristic purposes. There is a smaller library area in one part of the building for tourists to visit. The building also continues to preserve the Teatro Anatomico, which was used for anatomy classes at the old university. It also hosts various exhibitions in its courtyard from time to time. You can buy separate tickets to visit the anatomical theater and the library, or you can also buy a combined ticket.

Very beautiful place, it's 3€ to enter the library and the anatomical theater. Both rooms are very interesting and even the halls connecting them have beautiful paintings on the walls. Also check out the garden first before heading up stairs. I recommend scanning the Qr code for the audio tour, it gives you just a little bit more knowledge about the place. If you don't have earphones or something with you, you can still scan it because they also have everything written down. I didn't buy my tickets in advance and the wait wasn't too bad but I'd still recommend buying them in advance to make it easier for yourself.

Very nice museum, you can visit the Anatomical theatre and the Stabat Mater Hall. They are just amazing, a jewel in the city, both are breathtaking. It’s a must to visit in Bologna. And it costs only 3€ both.

Cool place to visit. Unfortunately you have to buy tickets to see the most interesting room but its worth the €3.

The library was founded in 1801 at the convent of San Domenico to collect the book heritage of the religious orders suppressed by Napoleon. In 1838 it was moved to its current location, in the Archiginnasio building , where it was organized by Luigi Frati , director from 1858 to 1902 . His successor - after the ad interim regency of Gaspare Ungarelli - was Albano Sorbelli , who directed it from 1904 to 1943 .

Anatomical theatre is an interesting sight but I’d only go if I was passing by or didn’t have much else to do that day

It is an incredible space to see and feel part of the history, but they make it so complicated. Your entrance in this place is incredible. When we came to visit it, it told us that we had to have a reservation, and since we didn't have one, we should have booked play the tickets online (also the tickets online cost more than the entrance price that is written at the register) , and then they would give us the tickets. Even though in the register, there were 3 people sitting doing nothing, but no, they're not selling room tickets, it's too hard work for them, and that made the whole experience really disappointing plus in order to buy the tickets, you have to log in by sharing your personal data unacceptable. In the end, we entered an absolutely empty chamber, there was no other visitors.

Worth the 3e per person. The visit takes 15min max and you can feel so much of the history (with the books, the emblems etc)

The areas you can get in are stunning. Worthy exploring for free

A must while in Bologna. But clearly whoever is in charge of choosing modern chairs, lamps and light sources is immune to the beauty of his surroundings and chose the ugliest possible. See photos.

Wow! Almost missed this amazing library! While you cannot tour the library itself there is still lots to see. The Teatro Anatomico and the Stabat Mater Hall are both part of the library building but for 3 euros they are accessible to tourists and boy is it worth it!
