I
visited
The
Garden
Bungalow
in
May
end
2022
with
my
parents
(both
70+).
Going
by
the
look
of
the
building
and
premises
on
the
website
we
were
impressed
and
booked
it.
We
had
booked
the
Bahaar
Hall
room
upstairs.
Mind
you,
the
lady
at
the
desk
(Ananya)
had
clearly
mentioned
that
all
the
rooms
are
exactly
the
same
except
-
the
upstairs
rooms
have
a
balcony
and
has
one
running
room
unlike
the
downstairs
ones
which
have
two
rooms
in
one
block
-
which
is
why,
there
is
a
difference
of
around
Rs
500
between
upstairs
and
downstairs
rooms.
On
the
first
day
we
reached
there,
we
found
the
premises
beautiful,
amidst
a
sprawling
well-maintained
garden,
the
room
as
described
on
the
site
-
huge,
great
furniture,
nice
bathroom.
After
freshening
up,
we
enjoyed
the
lunch
as
per
our
taste.
The
winding
wooden
staircase
up
to
the
first
floor
is
a
little
scary
for
senior
citizens
and
my
father
had
a
hernia
issue
plus
my
mom
is
a
heart
patient.
My
father
was
feeing
unwell
the
next
morning
so
I
requested
for
a
room
downstairs,
if
available.
The
lady
initially
refused
but
considering
the
situation,
requested
the
other
guests
if
they
could
swap
the
rooms
-
mind
you,
I
agreed
to
shift
downstairs
at
the
same
rate
as
upstairs
room
(Rs
500
extra),
which
I
had
already
paid.
Ultimately
she
managed
to
swap
the
room
in
the
afternoon.
We
had
given
her
the
keys
to
clean
the
rooms
and
shift
our
luggage
to
teh
ground
floor
room
and
we
had
gone
out.
After
we
came
back
and
entered
the
newly
assigned
room
downstairs,
we
were
shocked
to
see
it
nowhere
near
to
the
upstairs
room.
The
walls
were
dampened,
blankets
torn,
dirty
pillow,
no
glasses,
noisy
fan,
furniture
not
like
the
ones
upstairs,
-
overall
quite
disappointing,
we
felt
claustrophobic.
Uneasily
though,
I
requested
for
the
room
upstairs
again
as
we
did
not
feel
right
downstairs.
Now,
for
obvious
reasons,
they
denied
requesting
back
to
the
same
guests
-
which
is
totally
acceptable.
However,
she
promised
to
get
us
back
the
original
room
the
next
day
after
the
guests
checked
out.
Finally
we
got
our
upstairs
room
back.
Now,
coming
to
the
services,
Appreciable
areas:
1.
Beautiful
premises
and
garden
and
balcony
2.
Beautiful
white
house
building
-
great
for
taking
pictures
-
they
earn
a
lot
through
letting
out
for
pre-wedding
photo
shoots.
3.
Security
dada
(Basu
da)
and
the
Maasi
(Dolon)
who
did
the
dishes
and
served
tea
deserve
special
mention.
The
former
had
a
striking
knowledge
of
Tagore's
cultural
activities
and
has
been
himself
involved
in
it
for
long
-
it
is
lovely
to
engage
in
meaningful
conversations
with
him.
The
latter
carries
a
wonderfully
charming
personality
-
soft
and
self-restrained,
she
made
some
awesome
tea.
4.
The
everyday
service
provider
is
not
the
most
perfect
one
in
the
world
but
has
a
heart
of
truth.
He
is
an
honest
kid
trying
to
do
his
best
as
much
as
he
can.
Improvement
Areas:
1.
Breakfast
is
supposed
to
start
at
8
AM
as
per
the
hotel
schedule
stuck
up
in
each
room.
But
nobody
is
anywhere
near
the
dining
hall
until
8:30
AM.
So
you
get
your
breakfast
not
before
8:45
-
9:00
AM.
2.
The
food
is
good
but
can
be
improved.
On
the
day
before
we
left,
we
had
planned
to
have
early
dinner
outside
and
hence
cancelled
hotel
dinner
request
in
the
afternoon
itself.
However,
we
could
not
get
anything
to
eat
outside
and
requested
for
a
simple
dal
and
rice
at
night
after
8
PM.
They
refused
to
serve
dinner
as
we
had
already
cancelled
it
earlier
&
they
did
not
have
any
ingredients
to
cook.
As
a
result,
we
ordered
food
from
Arhani
-
a
nearby
home
takeaway
who
usually
takes
orders
a
day
before.
3.
The
hotel
does
not
have
any
vehicle
(car)
to
rent
out
so
it
is
difficult
if
you
plan
to
go
for
a
long
trip
and
don't
have
a
car
of
your
own.
4.
Although
there
is
a
lot
of
super
expensive
furniture,
accessories,
and
stuff
around
-
not
a
single
iota
speaks
of
Rabindra
bhabona.
5.
The
helpdesk
does
not
have
much
knowledge
about
nearby
sightseeing
attractions
or
shopping
options
6.
The
helpdesk
lady
talks
a
lot
about
the
family
of
the
owner
but
again,
low
knowledge
of
what
Santiniketan
is
famous
for.
